Grow existing business and develop new OEM accounts in electric vehicle charging and rail sectors across the U.S. and Canada. | 5+ years in OEM business development, knowledge of high voltage electrical products, proven success in sales growth, and experience with large contracts and RFPs. | (Remote) Business Development Manager – Eastern US OEM Rail & OEM Battery Driven Vehicle Charging The Company Schunk Carbon Technology, LLC is a manufacturer of systems solutions that are used in a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, and thermal applications. Although we operate from a facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, we are part of the Schunk Group, a worldwide company headquartered in Germany with over one billion euros in sales annually and diverse operations in 29 different countries. Our electric vehicle expertise and product lines range from current collection to ground return on rail vehicles, and to charging systems for buses. The Opportunity We have an opening for a motivated and energetic Business Development Manager with an understanding of high voltage electric vehicle charging or similar products. The Business development Manager will work directly with OEMs, providing charging pantographs and related products. Currently, Schunk is the European market leader in charging of battery electric vehicles and electrified rail vehicles. We desire to take advantage of our technology advances in these fields to aggressively grow the business and expand into personal vehicles, light and medium duty trucks, heavy trucks, mining and port applications, and others as they may arise. Established Territory: All U.S. states west of the Mississippi River. The main business concentration is along the eastern states. The Business Development Manager will work from a home office within the established territory. The primary manufacturing is performed in Wisconsin. Essential Job Functions (Job-Specific Knowledge/Skills) • 90% of the position consists of growing existing business with OEMs and developing new business in the U.S. and Canada with approximately 10% of the position being account maintenance • Overnight travel of at least 50% including some foreign travel • 60% Electric Rail and 40% Battery Driven Vehicle OEM business • Consult with customers to determine investment plans and guide specifications to Schunk product offerings • Actively pursue/manage the validation process, which can extend sales cycles to exceed one year • Assure proposals are complete, accurate, and timely • Call on Electric Rail and Battery Driven Vehicle OEMs (Railcar, LRV, Trolley, e-buses, electric school bus/shuttle vehicles, specialty industrial vehicles such as mining, waste collection and others that may be electrified) • Consistent and organized follow-up calls on prospects and leads • Locate and establish relationships with customer’s decision-making personnel and other points of contact • Work closely with colleagues in Germany and Austria (sales, engineering and manufacturing) • Support and represent Schunk in standards organizations such as SAE J3105 committee, Global Mining Group electric vehicle committee, and others as may apply Experience • 5+ years of work experience in OEM business development/large contract management • Knowledge of power generation and/or high voltage electrical products or systems • 3 to 5 years of proven success in sales growth and new account generation (transit sales is a plus) • Bid and RFP experience • Degree in Business or Engineering field preferred • Comfortable penetrating, prospecting, and initiating product testing and the validation process • Self-starter who can work independently and remotely • Professional-strength communication skills, oral and written • CRM experience highly desirable • Experience working with inter-company European colleagues/teams is helpful Benefits and Total Compensation The company offers a competitive employment package that includes: • Competitive base salary with formal sales incentive program • Car allowance (plus mileage reimbursement for personal use of auto) • 401(k) plan – Company-provided contribution of 3% of salary (paid bi-weekly) • Company-Paid benefits include Short and long-term disability, Life/AD&D insurance for you and every family member, Employee Assistance Program • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Equal Opportunity Employer: Minorities, Women, Veterans, Disabilities
