Build and manage relationships with insurance brokers, onboard and activate new agency partners, and drive premium growth. | Experience in insurance distribution or agency management, active surplus lines license or relevant experience, and strong broker network contacts. | About SafeLease SafeLease builds and sells insurance products for commercial property owners. Our reinsurance and asset management businesses insure over 4,000 properties, 500,000 tenants, and have over $1B of AUM. Our team of technologists, agents, and underwriters simplifies complex risks to intelligently allocate capital and deliver policies quickly and affordably. We focus on insurance products for the self-storage industry but are rapidly expanding our suite of services to other industries. We believe traditional commercial insurance can be distributed faster and cheaper. To do that, we’ve brought the entire insurance value chain—distribution, underwriting, and reinsurance—under one roof to drive innovation in an industry that’s ripe for change. The Role As our first Agency Development Manager, you will be the face of SafeLease to the brokerage community. You will be responsible for identifying, appointing, and managing relationships with independent agents as well as regional and national brokerages. What You’ll Do Build the Network: Identify and recruit high-performing commercial lines agencies and brokers who specialize in our core and adjacent verticals (self-storage, light industrial, marinas, hangars, etc). Onboard & Activate: Lead the appointment process. After signing producer agreements; you’ll train producers on how to use the SafeLease portal to quote and bind business in minutes and ensure they are successfully utilizing our platform and understand our appetite. Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for our producer partners. Conduct regular account reviews, provide appetite updates, and gather feedback to improve our product. Be hyper responsive to their needs and obsessed with making them successful working with SafeLease. Product Advocacy: Educate producers on our insurance products and technology advantage — showing them how our data-driven underwriting and faster turnaround times leads to better pricing and faster commissions for them. Drive Premium Growth: Own the entire pipeline from initial submission through to bind. You will partner closely with our underwriters to ensure high-quality risks are being prioritized. Own Program Business: Build distribution/referral relationships with our existing property management customers and other relevant industry parties. Who You Are The Connector: You have strong commercial property insurance contacts and know how to navigate the hierarchy of a large brokerage. The Industry Guru: You understand commercial P&C fundamentals but are bored by legacy systems. You’re excited to show brokers a better way to work. The Strategist: You proactively identify the best opportunities & build a plan to capture them. Experience: 5+ years in insurance distribution, agency management, or wholesale brokerage. Active surplus lines producer license is required (or relevant surplus lines experience.) How will success be measured? To ensure this person is successful, you should measure them on: New Appointments: Number of high-quality agencies signed per month. Submission Flow: Volume of "Qualified Submissions" coming through the broker channel. Activation Rate: The percentage of appointed agencies that bind at least one policy within their first 60 days. Retention: Year-over-year renewal rate of the broker-produced book of business. Why SafeLease? The tech: Our prospects convert fast because we’re solving real problems and delivering serious value to commercial real estate owners. The team: We’re a team of seasoned pros and sharp operators who know how to move fast and build smart. High standards, low ego. The stability: We’re well-funded, growing fast, and we make sure our team shares in that success with competitive pay and equity. The employee experience: We also offer unlimited PTO, full health benefits, flexible work setups, and the kind of culture where people want to show up to do their best work. If you don't have all the qualifications listed, don't worry! We understand everyone's career path is unique and still encourage you to apply if you feel this role is aligned with your career trajectory.
