Design and build scalable, reliable backend systems and integrations for healthcare provider services. | Requires 5+ years experience, strong communication, expertise in scalable system design, API patterns, and full development lifecycle. | About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join Rula's Provider Services team, where we provide the tools necessary to bring health providers and patients together. In this role, you will design and build scalable, reliable backend systems critical to the day-to-day operations at Rula, third party integrations and telehealth functions. As a key contributor, you'll identify and solve complex technical challenges, collaborate across teams, and drive innovation that supports our mission to deliver impactful and cohesive solutions. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or comparable work experience. • 5+ years of professional engineering experience. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with peers, partners, and stakeholders. • Experience designing and building highly scalable, reliable, available, and performant systems. • Experience driving all phases of the development lifecycle: planning, execution, measuring success, and post-launch maintenance. • Expert understanding of application architecture, API design patterns, data modeling, security, performance, and scaling. Design and deliver scalable, maintainable software systems impacting patient-provider matching experiences. | 5+ years experience building scalable web applications with modern full-stack technologies and leadership in technical projects. | About the Role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Rula's Patient Matching team. This team is focused on driving meaningful impact across the patient funnel. Our goal isn't to help patients find any provider, but to help them find the right provider: someone they trust, feel comfortable with, and want to continue care with. In practice, that means building and evolving the systems behind provider search, ranking, availability, eligibility, and booking experiences. As a Senior Engineer, you'll play a central role in shaping this direction by bringing order to ambiguity, designing durable systems, and delivering software that directly impacts how patients experience care. We're looking for product-minded engineers who see problems, move quickly, and help the team build the right solution quickly. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of building and scaling web applications in a production environment. • Deep expertise in modern full-stack technologies-ideally TypeScript, React, and Node.js-along with a strong grasp of functional and object-oriented programming. • Proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery velocity, automate boilerplate, and enhance code quality. • Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex, distributed systems that are scalable, maintainable, and secure. • Proven experience leading high-priority technical projects from conception to delivery, including the ability to navigate trade-offs and align stakeholders. • A passion for fostering a high-performing engineering culture through code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers Preferred Qualifications While having the preferred qualifications enhances your candidacy, having all of them is not mandatory.
