View Job
Compensation$130K - 165K a year

Analyzing and improving operational workflows and data reporting processes. | Experience in process improvement, data analysis, and stakeholder collaboration, but lacking recruiting-specific skills and experience. | About Us Propel is a 100-person tech company for people who receive government benefits. We build software that strengthens the safety net in America and envision a future where every American has the tools and resources they need to thrive. The Role This isn't a typical recruiting role. We're looking for someone to join our team who is both a great recruiter and someone who is incredibly interested in rethinking hiring systems as AI becomes a bigger part of the landscape. You love the human side of recruiting and are insatiably interested in how we can use technology to design smarter systems, build automation thoughtfully, help grow the collective skills of the team and ensure candidates feel warmth and care throughout their experience with us. You'll partner closely with the VP of People and our Talent Acquisition Manager to grow our team intentionally and inclusively. Our current hiring system is strong (30-day average time to hire, 95% candidate satisfaction, 90% offer acceptance). Now we want to elevate it into an adaptive, AI-enabled recruiting engine that learns and improves over time. You'll join a close-knit People Ops team that values curiosity, judgment, and high ownership. You'll guide hiring managers to clarity, design processes that balance efficiency with empathy, and help shape how technology supports recruiting, not replaces it. Here's How You'll Make an Impact • Strategic Partner to Hiring Managers: Go beyond the job description. You'll help hiring managers clarify what they truly need, shape the right role design, and define success profiles that connect to real business outcomes. • AI-Driven Systems Builder: You'll design recruiting systems that continuously learn and improve. You'll experiment with tools like ChatGPT, Juicebox, Glean, Cursor, and others to streamline sourcing, communication, and data analysis. • Champion of Candidate Experience: You'll use AI to personalize and scale candidate communication without losing the human touch. • First-Principles Process Designer: You'll question legacy recruiting practices and rebuild from the ground up. What truly drives efficiency, fairness, and quality? How can we make our systems easier and better for the hiring team? • Ethical & Inclusive Innovator: You'll help design systems that are transparent and inclusive by default. • Cultural Experimenter: You'll nurture a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement. What You'll Bring • 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience across technical and non-technical roles at Series A–D startups (ideally B2C, mobile, or marketplace products) • Proven ability to design and execute AI-assisted recruiting workflows. You're fluent or fast-learning in tools like ChatGPT, Juicebox, Glean, Cursor or others • A systems mindset: you think in terms of scalable workflows, data feedback loops, and process evolution • Innate curiosity and an optimistic mindset • Deep care for diversity, equity, and inclusion in every step of the process • Ability to balance speed and quality. You move fast, but never at the expense of candidate experience • Strong communication and storytelling skills, both written and verbal • Comfort with ambiguity, high ownership, and genuine curiosity about how things work • Bonus: Experience in People Ops or analytics, or a demonstrated interest in building the future of AI + HR systems Why Propel At our core, we believe AI should make recruiting more human by automating what's repetitive, clarifying what's complex, making it easier for people to develop their skills, and freeing us to spend more time connecting with people. You'll be part of a mission-driven company where technology serves humanity, not the other way around. At Propel, you'll enjoy: • Propel builds compensation bands referencing the 75th percentile of compensation for companies like us. Expected compensation for the role as scoped is $130,000–$165,000, depending on level and experience. • Meaningful work and a strong shared sense of mission • Remote-friendly work environment with a dog-friendly office in Downtown Brooklyn and satellite offices in San Francisco and Salt Lake City. The team meets in-person for optional retreats. • 20 Days of PTO • 4% 401K match • $10k lifetime spend towards Carrot Fertility • Excellent Medical, Dental and Vision options • Other health and mental health focused benefits and perks Additional Considerations • We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team, and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and abilities. • We're currently accepting applications from the states we have an established entity, which includes California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. • Background Check Requirement: For roles with access to confidential employee or customer information, a background check may be conducted following a conditional offer. All background checks are handled in accordance with applicable laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
