As a Research Director at PHM you’ll join a team of compassionate and dedicated professionals focusing solely on the best interest of the patient and establishing a new standard of excellence in precision medicine. In the role, you’ll lead the research efforts on complex cancer cases. You’ll review client medical records and clinical history, identify and evaluate diagnostic and treatment options including clinical trials and innovative, evidence-based therapies around the world, and develop and prioritize treatment strategies based on data in the medical literature and input from world leading experts. How You’ll Spend Your Days Client-Facing Engagement: Participate in client calls alongside clinicians to communicate the latest research findings, support shared decision-making, and ensure understanding of available options. Clinical History Analysis: Analyze patient medical records, including data extraction and tracking of lab values, symptoms, medication histories, or clinical outcomes. Medical Literature Review: Identify, review, and analyze literature across a wide range of clinical and research topics. Summarize articles and compare findings of clinical studies and present that information in a patient-friendly manner. Molecular Diagnostics Interpretation: Identify, analyze, and interpret molecular diagnostics and laboratory tests, ensuring accurate and insightful assessments. Provide insights to support patient care decisions. Treatment Options Research: Research, evaluate, and prioritize treatment options for individual cases. This includes review, analysis, and interpretation of the accepted standard of care, the most recent professional guidelines, and the most current investigational approaches, as well as identifying and connecting with key opinion leaders and other experts in the field of interest, to help guide decision making. Clinical Trials Identification: Identify and evaluate potential clinical trials. This includes spreadsheet creation, database searching, identification of supporting evidence, and calling trial sites to help find appropriate clinical trials for our clients. Content Creation: Create patient education documents (written reports, presentations, spreadsheets, graphs, charts, etc.) that provide pertinent information related to clinical history, diagnosis, and treatment options. What you bring to the table: Academic & Professional Experience: A PhD in a science or healthcare field is required + early-mid to mid career professional experience in cancer disorders. A preference is given to candidates with hematologic, gynecologic, pediatric and/or soft tissue cancer experience. Excellent Research Abilities: Knowledge of best practices and well-developed research capabilities exploring the medical literature (e.g., PubMed, Google Scholar) Client Readiness: Exceptional interpersonal skills, service orientation, written and verbal communication abilities to serve as a trusted advisor to clients Adaptable Doer Attitude: Efficient, resourceful, creative, and able to make rapid decisions in the face of ambiguity & deadlines. Compensation: The target base salary for this position is $125,000 - $140,000. This base salary is part of a total rewards package that includes: health/dental/vision benefits, annual cash incentive, 401k with match, stock options, flexible PTO, and access to PHM’s services for you and your dependents. Actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other factors. This is a fully remote position requiring that you live in the United States. About the Role As a Strategic Account Manager, you will serve as a senior, consultative partner to PHM’s employer clients — helping them better understand, measure, and address the impact of cancer and other serious health conditions on their workforce and business. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, client advisory, and growth. You will help clients assess the effectiveness of their current health and benefits programs, analyze utilization and outcomes, and understand how PHM’s services fit into — and elevate — their broader benefits ecosystem. Through insight-driven guidance and strong cross-functional collaboration, you will help clients adopt and expand PHM programs that improve clinical outcomes, enhance the employee experience, and manage cost. You will work closely with PHM’s Sales, Clinical, and Marketing teams to ensure clients realize the full value of PHM’s offerings, while also identifying opportunities to deepen relationships and expand engagement over time. What You’ll Accomplish Serve as the primary strategic partner and trusted advisor to assigned employer clients Deliver ongoing, insight-rich reporting that clearly demonstrates the clinical, financial, and experiential value of PHM services for each client’s population Partner closely with Sales and Clinical teams to drive strong client engagement, long-term retention, and account growth Build deep relationships with existing client stakeholders while expanding relationships across HR, benefits, finance, and executive leadership Drive member engagement by developing strategic activation approaches and identifying opportunities for integration within each client’s broader benefits ecosystem Materially grow Health Solutions revenue by: Serving as a PHM subject-matter expert in new client pursuits and expansions Identifying and executing opportunities to expand PHM services within existing accounts How You’ll Spend Your Days Advising employers on the strategic and operational implications of serious and complex health conditions within their workforce Translating data, utilization trends, and outcomes into clear, actionable insights for senior client stakeholders Leading client conversations that align PHM’s capabilities to evolving business and benefits priorities Coordinating across internal teams to deliver a seamless, high-impact client experience Proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and growth paths within assigned accounts What You Bring to the Table 5+ years of experience managing and growing complex client relationships, ideally within healthcare, employee benefits, or health plan environments Demonstrated success establishing yourself as a trusted advisor to clients at multiple levels of an organization, including senior and executive stakeholders Strong understanding of employer-sponsored health plans and benefits strategy Exceptional executive presence, collaboration skills, and written and verbal communication abilities High level of comfort working with data, analytics, and technology-enabled solutions Ability and willingness to travel regularly to support client relationships Read what current Team Members say about working at PHM! Compensation: The target OTE of this position is $150,000-$192,000 with a base salary range of $125,000 - $160,000 with additional commission and bonus incentives possible. Cash compensation is only a part of a total compensation package that also includes health/dental/vision benefits, 401k with match, flexible PTO, our own world class care navigation services, and other benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range as several factors including market forces, experience, location, disparities in market data and other relevant business considerations may all factor into final compensation. This is a remote role that may require significant travel.
