What to Expect? The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for selling POOLCORP’s value proposition to our customers across all segments including pool builders, service providers, and retailers. The Business Development Representative plays a key role in customer retention, generating revenue, and driving sales growth for POOLCORP. On a daily basis our Business Development Representative: Develops a strategy to increase sales and profits within the assigned territory for different customer segments including key, opportunity, new, and existing customers. Prospects and generates leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and online research; follows up on qualified sales leads. Effectively builds relationships with customers by understanding and supporting their business. Grows and maintains these relationships over time, becoming a “go to” advisor. Plans and executes a minimum number of daily scheduled sales calls with defined objectives for the assigned book of business. Travels within designated territory delivering best-in-class sales presentations and product demonstrations that meet the customers’ needs and proactively provides solutions. Negotiates terms, closes sales, and handles post-sale support, including addressing customer concerns and ensuring satisfaction. Coordinates sales efforts with corporate marketing initiatives and incentives. Attends industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand the customer base and stay informed on market trends. Provides quotes and product data promptly and accurately. Develops relationships with POOLCORP region and division leadership including the Sales Center, Region and Division Managers as well as vendor representatives to achieve individual and broader goals. Maintains all customer records in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, completing reports and call records in a timely fashion. Stays current on competitor activities, market conditions, and industry trends through ongoing research and analysis. What You Will Need: At least 2 years’ experience in professional-level business-to-business sales. A proven track record of successful sales in a wholesale distribution environment. Ability to cold call on prospective clients. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build trust and long-term relationships. Knowledge of industry products and distribution processes. Self-motivation and ability to work independently. Ample knowledge of one or more of these product lines: pool related equipment, plumbing supplies, tile, decking, exterior lighting, patio furniture, construction materials, building supplies, chemicals, landscaping / irrigation supplies, HVAC supplies or similar tangible goods. Proficiency with Microsoft CE or other CRM and the entire Microsoft Suite (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel). Familiarity with Prelude or similar inventory management software is preferred. A valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record – no more than 2 violations within 3 years – and willing to travel regularly within a designated area. What to Expect? The Warehouse Operations Manager directs and coordinates activities involved with procuring products for sales and distribution. On a daily basis our Warehouse Operations Manager: Hires, trains, directs and manages all warehouse staff, which may include warehouse associates, drivers or other positions based in the warehouse. Reviews open sales orders, open purchase orders, open vendor claims, and open transfers. Reviews warehouse procedures and ensures proper warehouse safety procedures are followed. Consults with regional buyers and/or vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Manages inventory, controls stock outs and reduces excessive inventory. Performs cycle counts to prevent inventory shrink. Manages freight expense and approves invoices/freight bills for payment. Manages Accounts Payable discrepancies in a timely manner. Supervises the proper routing, loading and preparing of orders for shipment and delivery in accordance with customer instructions. Trains new employees on warehouse and distribution procedures. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Supports sales staff in meeting sales objectives. Other non-essential job duties may be assigned. What You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3-5 years of operations experience in industrial distribution or warehouse environment. Operations responsibility for $5-10 Million wholesale warehouse type facility. Experience managing a team of 5+ employees. Computer skills including MS Office and Inventory Management software. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of industrial product lines such as pool and spa equipment, chemicals, construction materials, plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, HVAC supplies, auto parts, irrigation supplies, or similar industrial tangible goods helpful. Job Summary: The Management in Training - Operations (MIT) Program is an entry-level, hands-on training program based in our distribution warehouse. It is a great opportunity for individuals seeking an introductory role that will lead to a long-term career in operations management. You will receive 6-months of guidance, support and resources to learn about the swimming pool supply, irrigation and landscape distribution industry. If you have an eye for quality, sense of urgency and a passion for efficiency, then we want to speak with you! Upon completion of the program, program graduates are eligible to apply for Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager roles that are available nationwide. What We Are Looking For: Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain Management, Management, Operations or other related discipline with a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Work experience in a leadership and/or problem solving role. Desire and ability to work in a distribution warehouse environment. Results driven, self-starter with the ability to lead and develop a team with rapidly changing priorities. Strong leadership skills are a must! Possess and demonstrate a motivated, passionate, customer service driven attitude.
