Job Summary NAES is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead a critical power system upgrade in Burlington, IA. The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for scoping, designing, and managing system replacements that ensure reliable plant operations during transmission line transitions. This role will provide technical leadership across multiple facilities, support transformer upgrade initiatives, and serve as a key liaison with utilities, vendors, and internal teams. The successful candidate will deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that maintain continuity of operations and set a standard for future electrical projects across the fleet. Essential Duties And Responsibilities • Plan, scope, and manage electrical system upgrades to maintain reliability during transmission line changes. • Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and equipment selection for electrical projects. • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and contractor/vendor deliverables. • Lead the transformer upgrade program, including evaluation of GSUs and auxiliary transformers, with a focus on standardization and code compliance. • Provide technical oversight and guidance for electrical projects at multiple facilities. • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, safety, and utility partners to ensure smooth project execution. • Prepare documentation, reports, and recommendations for executive decision-making. Job Requirements • Proven track record managing electrical projects from design through implementation. • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, step-up transformers, and auxiliary transformers. • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC). • Excellent communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Physical Requirements • Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift up to 75 pounds. • Work in confined spaces, heights, and extreme temperatures as required in a power plant. • Must wear and properly use PPE, including arc flash gear, gloves, and safety glasses. Education / Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field required) • 7+ years’ experience in power generation, utility, or industrial electrical engineering. • Specialized training in power plant instrumentation, controls, or electrical maintenance preferred. • PE license or progress toward licensure preferred.
