Develop and ship high-quality native applications collaborating with product, design, and ML teams. | 4+ years experience shipping native apps with architecture and performance expertise. | Perplexity AI is looking for experienced Generalist Software Engineers to join our Comet and Perplexity native application teams. Our team is reshaping knowledge work through our high-impact Comet and Computer native apps. The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills and multiple years of experience shipping high-quality, production software. Our stack spans several different skillsets, including Chromium, Rust, Kotlin, Swift, Typescript and Perplexity’s core AI stack. We have found that our strongest engineers are capable of working across multiple codebases and ramping up quickly, and we expect the same high bar for candidates. Demonstrated technical leadership: you scope ambiguous problems, set direction, and drive cross-team projects to durable outcomes. Strong product judgment and ownership instincts; you turn vague needs into simple, reliable systems and ship without waiting for perfect specs. Comfort with data-informed decisions; you define the metrics and evals that prove a system works, and iterate on them.
