Perform histology duties including embedding, sectioning, staining, and case management of slides, following protocols and maintaining lab safety. | Requires knowledge of histology procedures, laboratory safety, and handling of hazardous materials, with experience in embedding, microtomy, and staining. | Job Summary The Histotechnician performs all duties of histology including: embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, microtomy and case management of the daily slides. This position is responsible for performing special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures as directed. Essential Functions • Embed all types of tissue • Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue • Follow set protocols and procedures for embedding and microtomy • Keep embedding area, microtome, and workstation clean and clutter free and maintain proper QC • Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or re-agents • Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures as directed • Assist with case assembly and distribution as needed • File blocks and slides as needed • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

Receive, accession, and document specimens and requisitions accurately while maintaining compliance with safety and privacy standards. | High school diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of related experience preferred. | JOB SUMMARY: The Logistics Receiver, under the direction of the Accessioning Lead and Manager, performs daily accessioning activities of receiving specimens, accessioning specimens, and scanning of requisitions into scan system. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Receive and clock in specimens from couriers timely; verify that specimens recorded on courier logs are received. • Prioritize and sort specimens appropriately for accessioning and processing. • Perform data entry login of patient demographics, clinical information, specimen source, and test(s) orders from specimen requisitions into computer systems and accessions specimen containers as needed or required. • Check test(s) ordered for medical necessity requirements and ABN if applicable. Document any orders, which are lacking appropriate documentation to supervisor. • Document all problem cases appropriately. • Scan requisitions and all related paperwork, into the scan system, and shred documents as needed. • Review specimen requisitions against data entry of requisition information, for accuracy, document errors noted and forward documentation to supervisor, and corrects errors found. • Answer departmental phone calls and assist clients as needed. • Contribute to a positive work climate and to the team effort of the department and company. • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies. EDUCATION & LICENSURE: • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. REQUIREMENTS: • One to two years of prior job-related experience is preferred.
