Provide engineering, estimating, and planning services for refrigeration systems, including customer specifications, technical recommendations, and training. | Minimum 4 years of direct experience in engineering, preferably in supermarket applications or design, with strong computer skills and knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems. | Overview Provide engineering, estimating and planning services for refrigeration systems, Port-A-Pak, Econo-Pak, coil products, cases and panel products to the branch or distributors, including sales, service, construction, manufacturing and engineering departments to service customers’ needs. To provide accurate refrigeration legends to the Sales/Order Entry Department. Provide additional training for new engineers in the areas of Application Engineering. Responsibilities Ability to sit with customer and develop specifications while understanding the impact to Revenue and GP. Has advanced level of understanding for refrigeration systems and components including parallel racks and protocol. Ability to interpret customer specifications and make recommendations for improvements. Make recommendations to the sales department on innovative engineering approaches and advantages of various types of products for our supermarket customers. Understands the CAD functions and capable of checking CAD work to find errors and make recommendations for improvement. Work with sales, customers, drafters, and consulting engineering groups to ensure proper system layouts and design of commercial refrigeration systems. First point of engineering contact to assist field and customer service personnel in answering equipment application questions and resolve external customer issues with no management intervention. Remain current with existing and emerging technologies in the industry. Provide process improvement ideas to enhance our level of customer service and better our department. Expert in quoting, can train others in the use of the standard AE quoting tools, and serves as a mentor to new application engineers as well as help other departments better understand our designs. IFE development involves many system level issues including real time, performance and reliability requiring understanding of distributed processors in an embedded system environment. Many problems are multi-dimensional requiring non-traditional solutions to fit within the constraints of an embedded system providing highest value to the customer and end user to bring entertainment in an aircraft. • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with user-centric, iterative design and development cycles. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make efficient use of given resources such as system lab time and downstream process owners and tasks. • Experience in leading and/or providing technical guidance to other engineers. • Uses skills as a seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures. • Resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. • Works on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors. • Ability to effectively interact with senior internal and external personnel. • Demonstrated engineering communication expertise including concise written and verbal skills is a must. • Familiarity with DevOps CI/CD pipelines, Gitlab • Familiar working with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and environments. • Familiarity with network security methodologies a plus. • In-Flight Entertainment domain knowledge and System Development experience is a plus. Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. • Advanced degree is desired. • 10-15 years' of related experience. • 8+ years' of embedded software development experience. • 8+ years' of current hands on development experience with one of the following: C/C++, and development of networking related solutions. • Very high technical competence with a track record of strong coding. OTHER REQUIREMENTS May require travel up to 5% of the time to domestic and/or international locations. The salary range of $116,000 to $194,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum.
