Job Summary: The Project Manager I directs and supervises the work efforts of their assigned staff. This position executes the technical direction provided by Management regarding scope, deliverables, schedule, and budget for the project. The Project Manager is responsible for nurturing a positive client interface providing all project details to the client on a timely manner. The primary difference between this level and the Project Manager Ill is the magnitude and scope (including cost and complexity) of assigned staff and/or projects. As well as the ability, through experience, to manage diverse and complex projects is a key factor. Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for scheduling, forecasting, and tracking the project and team deliverables. * Manage and delegate workflow to maximize productivity. * Effectively be able to create work plans, manage resource planning, set & track goals, implement process improvement, and submit timely project reporting. * Develop project work plans and recovery plans to maintain project and objectives. * Develop and implement specific operating strategies to meet deliverables and differentiate Advantage Engineers in the marketplace. * Perform Quality Control reviews of documents and plans for accuracy and completeness. * Implement operational protocols to deliver and measure the quality of our services. * Accountable for the deployment of workload schedules, project execution, delivery within budget, and quality of all project elements. * Build, develop, improve, and expand relationships with key clients within the market. * Attend all necessary meetings and be the primary contact with your clients. * Listen to understand the needs of your client to implement process and/or schedule changes. * Maintain open and positive working relationships and enhance the image of the company for the development of additional business opportunities. * Provide constant and consistent feedback with your clients in order to continue building trust and project focus. * Submit Purchase Order (PO) requests to clients, work with clients to obtain PO, track work completed to invoice against PO, and regularly report to management. * Understand that client engagement and development is one of the most important aspects of the position. * Create an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration, while fostering employee engagement. * Promote a sense of urgency within the team. * Regularly meet with each team member to review goals, progress, and KPls. * Actively coach and mentor your team members to insure employee growth and success. * Identify and solicit resources for training and employee education to ensure employees have sound knowledge on technical and business practices. * Foster the use of new/innovative concepts in the development of project designs and proposals. * Encourage your team to seek advice from technical experts in the industry to be more successful, efficient, and timely. * Review and approve time sheets, expense reports, and invoices for assigned employees. * Evaluate employee performance in accordance with company policy and job requirements. * Always promote a strong Safety Culture with staff and contractors. * Provide oversight and leadership for team members, consultants, and contractors to complete project assignments on schedule. * Up to 75% Travel. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Experience within the Telecommunication/Wireless industry preferred. * Proven ability to analyze financial reports and budgets to plan the course of the work effectively. * Proven aptitude to demonstrate knowledge and experience in strategic planning and development. * Proven experience leading, motivating, and communicating consistently with employees and clients. * PMP or equivalent certification preferred. Education and Experience: * Must possess at least 5-7 years of experience in a project management role. * Possess a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Construction Management, or equivalent years of experience. Physical Requirements: * Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. * Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. The Director of Preconstruction Services will work within Network Connex’s Data Center Services group providing complete oversight for the successful direction, scalable planning and leadership of the group’s preconstruction operations. The successful candidate will be dynamic, innovative and possess thorough knowledge of estimating, engineering and design, and prefabrication best practices and strategies. Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Safety is the main fiber of our network. Follow Safe work practices that conform to the Company’s Safety program and customer site policies and procedures. • Establishes, implements, and communicates the direction of preconstruction operations. • Reviews all bid packages with the assigned Estimator prior to estimate kick-off ensuring a detailed understanding of the scope, technical requirements and pricing strategy for the project. • Prior to delivery of formal response delivery – conducts full reviews of all final cost estimate and response packages for accuracy, completeness ensuring clarity and that all requirements of the request for proposal have been captured and included. • Establish and monitor group and team member performance metrics such as it relates to estimating and prefabrication. • Partners with Executive leadership and Business Development in determining what projects to pursue and costing strategies that improves competitive position and positively impacts opportunity win rate. • Collaborate with and lead the team in driving innovative techniques related to value engineering, prefabrication strategies and technologies. • Identifies and provides opportunities for the team’s up-skilling and professional development. • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to streamline preconstruction workstreams and improve utilization of resources. • Builds relationships and collaborates with other division and department leaders in carrying out the organization’s goals and objectives. • Prepares and presents regular reporting on performance and metrics to the Vice President of Data Center Services and other Executive leadership. • Participates in presentations to internal and external leadership and stakeholders of all levels. • Provides technical assistance and support in negotiating contracts and change orders as may be required. • This position will play a key role in the customer / project interview process and aid in the securing and expansion of new and existing contracts. Skills, Abilities and Competencies: • The right candidate for this position will possess strong leadership qualities, be a highly effective communicator and is willing to roll up their sleeves to help the team when needed. • Extensive knowledge of industry best practices and principals related to cost estimating, BIM and design drafting and prefabrication strategies and methods. • Highly experienced at understanding complex and detailed, design drawings, specifications and other documents with ability to clearly identify specific scope of work and requirements. • Must be proficient in the use Microsoft Office business applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). • Must be familiar with modern estimating and on-screen takeoff software and applications. Experience with Accubid and other Trimble platforms is highly preferred. • Experience in use of AutoCAD, Revit or other 3D modeling software is a plus. • Ability to manage the time constraints and changing priorities while fostering a positive culture and work environment. • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a high level of motivation. Can work as part of a team or independently with minimal direct guidance. Experience and Education: • Bachelor’s degree in a construction management or engineering discipline. • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in estimating, engineering or project management for large scale highly complex Structured Cabling and/or Low Voltage Systems projects. • 5+ years’ extensive experience in data center cabling infrastructure preferred. • Demonstrated experience in developing estimates and response packages for projects utilizing various contracting methods such as Lump Sum / Fixed Price, Cost Plus, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Unit Rate, Design Build, etc. • Preferred professional certifications: • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) • BICSI Registered Telecommunications Project Manager (RTPM) • AASPE Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) • A combination of related and relevant education, training and experience will be considered. Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have direct reports.
