Come join our team and work inspired each day! What You'll Do NetDocuments is seeking a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our next-generation document management systems. As a senior technical leader, you'll drive the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable, event-driven platforms that power mission-critical frontend and backend solutions for our global customer base. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of backend architecture, cloud-native infrastructure, and full stack development—someone who builds production-ready applications at scale while guiding teams toward technical excellence. You'll collaborate with product, design, and engineering leadership to define the direction of our systems and integrate cutting-edge technologies, including AI-driven services and event-based data pipelines. If you're passionate about building resilient systems, mentoring engineers, and driving innovation in how organizations manage and interact with their documents, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact. You will: Technical Leadership & Architecture • Define technical direction for full-stack initiatives, establishing patterns for scalable, secure, and performant systems. • Lead architectural decisions balancing React frontend excellence with robust backend services. • Drive initiatives that improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer experience. • Guide the evolution of our technology stack as it matures and scales. • Make critical technical decisions that balance user experience, performance, security, and maintainability. Design and Build • Design and implement event-driven architectures using AWS services, Kafka, and modern data pipelines. • Build production-grade applications across the full stack (React/TypeScript, Node.js, C#/.NET, NoSQL databases, AWS). • Create seamless, intuitive frontend experiences that make complex document management feel effortless. • Design and implement scalable APIs (REST, GraphQL) that power our frontend and enable third-party integrations. • Integrate AI-driven services and emerging technologies to enhance document intelligence and user productivity. • Build content enrichment and search capabilities that surface insights from billions of documents. • Ensure security, performance, and compliance considerations are applied across all implementations. Build and Optimize Systems • Write high-quality, well-tested code across the full stack with emphasis on maintainability. • Design resilient systems that maintain uptime and performance as we scale globally. • Implement observability through logging, metrics, and telemetry to proactively triage issues. • Monitor and optimize performance at scale, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions. • Create comprehensive technical documentation including architectural diagrams and design decisions. Collaboration & Mentorship • Partner closely with product management and design to translate requirements into technical solutions. • Mentor engineers across experience levels, elevating technical skills and best practices. • Collaborate with Platform Services and other teams on integration points and shared infrastructure. • Build consensus on technical approaches while having authority to make final decisions when needed. • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives through code reviews, design discussions, and documentation. Continuous Learning & Innovation • Stay at the forefront of full-stack development, cloud-native architecture, and AI-powered tools. • Research and prove out new technologies through POCs that align with product strategy. • Contribute ideas that directly improve customer experience and engineering velocity. Within Your First 90 Days • Develop a deep understanding of architecture and build strong trust with the team. • Lead your first significant technical initiative, such as search optimization, event pipeline improvement, or frontend component evolution. • Establish yourself as a go-to technical resource. Ongoing • Become the recognized technical authority, trusted across teams for complex challenges. • Drive measurable improvements in performance, reliability, and developer productivity. • Elevate engineering quality through mentorship, code reviews, and technical leadership. • Deliver architectural decisions that scale effectively with the platform. This Role Might Not Be Right If... • You're looking for a purely advisory role—this position requires about 80% hands-on coding. • You prefer to work independently rather than collaboratively. • You're uncomfortable working in a regulated industry with strict security and compliance requirements. • You prefer stable, mature systems rather than helping build and evolve next-generation platforms. What You'll Need to Be Successful • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent experience. • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production-grade applications at scale. • 3+ years in technical leadership roles with demonstrated influence on team direction and engineering practices. • Proven track record of building scalable full-stack applications still in production. • Required Technical Knowledge • Frontend: Deep expertise in React, ES6+, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript ecosystems. • Backend: Strong proficiency in C#/.NET and Node.js. • Architecture: Event-driven and service-oriented architectures, microservices patterns, distributed systems. • Cloud & Data: AWS services (ECS, Lambda, S3), NoSQL databases (DynamoDB/DocumentDB), SQL databases. • APIs: REST and GraphQL design, versioning strategies, and security best practices. • Messaging: Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming platforms. • Observability: Logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and telemetry (we use Datadog). • Quality: Test-driven development, CI/CD practices, and production support.
