Job Summary Delivers Nursing Care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to understand patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives. Essential Functions • Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; conferring with physicians. • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining patients; documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. • Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing patient care goals; instructing patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions; providing information and resources. • Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care standards; reviewing patient records; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives; modifying nursing care plan. • Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards, healthcare organization policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards; maintaining cooperative relationships among healthcare team members. • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. • Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches. • Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. • Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items. • Improves nursing job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. • Contributes to nursing and healthcare organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results. Qualifications • BSN Degree Preferred • less than 1 year Completion of a nursing program and active license. • 1-3 years Experience working in a clinical environment. • Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA • Ability is required to perform assessments and nursing functions as acquired in the basic nursing preparation program • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal • Ability to build comprehensive reports and effectively convey information to others. • New York State License and Registered Nurse Required • Basic Life Support Training • Infection Control Training • OHS Fit Test Required • OHS Annual Assessment Required Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer. Oversee and supervise medical staff, assist with clinical practice management, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives in school-based health centers. | Completion of US accredited Family Medicine or Pediatrics residency, strong leadership and communication skills, ability to manage clinical and administrative demands, and experience in medical staff supervision. | City/State: Bronx, New York Grant Funded: No Department: MMG - School Health Primary Care Work Shift: Day Work Days: MON-FRI Scheduled Hours: 8 AM-4:30 PM Scheduled Daily Hours: 7.5 HOURS Pay Range: $144,000.00-$180,000.00 Assistant Medical Director for School Health The Assistant Medical Director, in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Administrative Nurse Manager, is responsible for assuring the continuous delivery of high-quality medical care at the Montefiore School Health Program school-based health centers, in compliance with all standards and regulations of Montefiore Medical Center and outside regulatory agencies. The Assistance Medical Director position will be a half-time position, complementing the associate's half-time position for direct patient care. QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS: 1. Completion of US ACCREDITED Family Medicine or Pediatrics Residency 2.Strong leadership and communication skills 3. Ability to balance medical/professional needs and administrative demands 4. Ability to maintain professional and interpersonal relationships with physicians, managers, and staff. 5. Pattern of demonstrating those behaviors that will position themselves as a role model within their office 6. Creative, innovative and strategic thinker 7. Ability to problem solve and promote effective organizational change 8. Well organized PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversee physician and nurse practitioners, including supervision, one-on-one coaching, problem resolution, discipline, chart reviews and provider evaluations, including Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations, in collaboration with Medical Director 2. Actively contribute towards the creation of a positive work environment and culture. 3. Assist medical providers with clinical practice management, including patient flow and meeting standards of evidence-based care. 4. Ensure medical staff compliance with the MMC by-laws and rules and regulations. 5. Assist Medical Director in initiatives related to clinical quality, patient safety and office improvement. 6. Assist Medical Director with planning and facilitation of regularly scheduled periodic physician meetings. 7. Collaborate with Program Managers to identify strategic opportunities and resolve operational issues 8. Investigate and respond to patient complaints as needed with Site Administrator 9. Assist Medical Director with interviewing and selection of new providers 10. Assist Medical Director in providing orientation and mentoring for new providers MEASURES OF SUCCESS: 1.
