Summary Research Financial Analyst II Position Highlights: • With moderate oversight, a Research Financial Analyst II, which is an experienced professional role, receives work assignments of increasing complexity. The position will manage all phases of research award administration including pre and post award. • The primary function of the role is research fund portfolio management, including: budget forecasting, monitoring utilization to ensure fiscal compliance, resolving accounting issues, and providing direct financial advisory services. • Act as a liaison between the Principal Investigator, our central Sponsored Award offices (Office of Sponsored Research and Research Finance), and various other Moffitt departments to appropriately manage an award through its various life cycles. • Manage sponsored awards, this position requires knowledge of sponsor specific reporting requirements, including but not limited to 0MB circulars A-110, A-122, and A-133 (administrative and audit requirements for educational and nonprofit institutions) as well as Moffitt's Institutional guidelines. • With growing expertise in grant management, will serve as a mentor to junior team members, providing guidance and support that reinforces training to catalyze development and advancement. Responsibilities: • Grant Submission Budget Preparation: • Collaborates with Grant Administrators, Principal Investigators, and other support staff to review/coordinate aspects of grant submission, provide guidance with budget and budget justification • Active Grant Management: • Performs financial analysis on complex PI portfolio of accounts and provides guidance on strategic planning to maximize budget utilization in a fiscally responsible manner. • Develops forward-thinking forecasts based on historical spending trends, future planned spending, and overall funding portfolio. • Reconcile actual spending against approved budget, rebudgeting as necessary and allowed throughout the grant cycle. • Advise regarding the allowability of costs to be charged to a grant. Work with peers and Research Finance to resolve complex accounting issues. • Identifies and prevents projected overruns, preparing appropriate cost transfers as needed throughout the grant cycle. • Coordinate with Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) and Research Finance (RF) to facilitate timely award activation. • Identifies, proposes and implements creative solutions to potential grant issues. • Maintain & monitor institutional match funds, as required by specific funding mechanisms. • Facilitates budgetary controls as it relates to varying expenditures including equipment, clinical trials, animal work, etc. • Grant Close-Out: • Partners with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and other departments to ensure incurred expenses are liquidated timely for appropriate closeout of all expired projects. • Collaborate with Research Finance to address grant close-out items. • Stays current with all new and existing regulatory requirements and institutional policies/procedures, and keeps PIs and department leadership informed of changes. • Verifies and assures fiscal compliance of expenditures per terms and conditions specified by funding mechanism • Manages faculty and staff effort appointments by factoring in PI recommendations, budget projections, and award specific effort requirements. Ensures alignment with OMB Circular A-122 and National Institutes of Health (NIH) salary cap guidelines. • Coordinates regularly scheduled time/effort reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines. • Manages regulatory compliance with items related to Comparative Medicine, Institutional Review Board (IRB), etc, as it pertains to the funding mechanism. • Ensures proposal compliance with Division and grantor policies and procedures, as well as those of subcontracting institutions. • Coordinate with Moffitt Foundation to request and manage donations received to support research driven initiatives. • Work with Financial Analysis Research Operations for set up and management of operational dollars. • Collaborate with Research Division Administration leadership on the initiation of new positions, replacement positions and termination of positions, dependent on funding availability. • Collaborate with Innovation Office and Alliance Relations on the management of Industry Sponsored agreements. • Responsible for working with Department Chairs, Program Leaders, & other Research leadership to prepare and manage department or program specific budgets. • Work daily with Office of Sponsored Research, Research Finance, Grant Administrators and Pis on daily basis in management of grants and ensuring compliance • Mentor junior staff (Research Financial Analyst I & Assistant) by providing guidance and support that reinforces training to catalyze development and advancement. • Represents Department as with grant subject resource. • Audits accounts as assigned for consistency. • Analyzes financial data and develops comprehensive reports to present key financial metrics. • Provide feedback on implementation of new systems & processes to facilitate all aspects of grant management. Credentials and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree - field of study: Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting • 3 years of financial (i.e. forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.) experience, including at least 1 year of extramural funding (i.e. NIH, State of Florida, Foundation, etc.) management experience. Lead and manage all HIM functions including coding, clinical documentation improvement, compliance, financial oversight, policy development, and quality assurance to ensure regulatory adherence and operational efficiency. | Bachelor’s degree in Health Care or related field, 10+ years managing HIM with 6+ years project management experience, and one required HIM certification such as RHIA, CPC, or CCS. | Summary Position Highlights: The Director of Health Information Management ("HIM") is responsible for overall leadership and management of the Health Information Management ("HIM") department. This position is responsible for assessing, directing and coordinating all aspects of the HIM functions through leadership, strategic goal setting, effective communication and an interdepartmental collaboration. This role governs and oversees efficient and effective operational policies, processes and leading practices for the following areas: clinical documentation integrity, Hospital inpatient and outpatient coding, provider based (professional practice) coding and all patient related medical records functions under the HIM Operations team. Above activities and functions need to meet fiscal requirements consistent with regulatory and compliance framework Responsibilities • Oversee all health information coding (HIM) functions, including technical and professional coding, clinical documentation improvement and HIM operations, to ensure timely and compliant coding processes and identify corrective action as appropriate. • Provide leadership, oversight and strategic direction for coding trends including audit and education efforts to facilitate enhancements in coding, documentation and charge capture • Provide expertise and counsel on emerging HER standards, regulatory requirement and best practices for managing electronic patient record • Serves as a liaison between health information management, clinical teams and information technology to ensure compliant coding optimization and maintenance of the medical record. • Develop, monitor, and distribute metrics, score cards, financial reporting and dashboards to establish decision making based on analytics. • Monitor the daily/monthly DNFB goal for the Hospital and Physician areas increasing its priority when trending upward. • Oversee the quarterly forecasting for all the HIM cost centers allocating resources based on need and leadership goals and objectives. • Review the monthly financials providing explanation on variances and trends. • Review the team productivity at the department level each pay period drilling down to the employee level when appropriate. • Identify, develop and review policies and procedures related to coding. • Develop policies, protocols, and functional standards for evaluating and implementing EHR and HIM applications by maintaining current knowledge of applicable federal and state EHR-related laws and accreditation standards; monitor and communicate changes to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance. • Review and implement coding automated and innovated solutions. • Evaluate and institute new procedures and new technology to increase effectiveness, reduce cost and promote customer satisfaction. • Lead quality and regulatory efforts related with coding • Monitor departmental-based quality and compliance monitoring and evaluation activities and recommends measures to ensure that hospital, JCAHO, and other quality and other regulatory standards are met. Credentials And Experience • Bachelor’s Degree - field of study: Health Care, Business Administration or related field • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in management overseeing a health information management area with expert knowledge of health information management practices and procedures, regulatory requirements including applicable state and federal law, JCAHO standards and HCFA rules and guidelines. Experience must include a minimum of six (6) years' experience with Project management, system implementation, audit processes, developing scopes, execution of audit plans and reporting results to management.
