Who you are We are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join our Customer Experience application development team and contribute to the next step function growth phase. As a member of the engineering team, you will have the opportunity to design and build systems and features from the ground-up, have a big role to play in defining the direction of our product and mentor other engineers. For internal users we need to streamline workflows and surface timely and context-relevant insights. For external users, we want an easy, fluid experience that supports both remote and on-premise workflows – be that at the parking lot, gas station, carwash, or fast food drive-thru. What you'll do Design, implement, and maintain the frontend systems that make up the Metropolis parking and mobility platform. Collaborate with product managers and designers to model and understand real world problems in our UX. Be a key part of the entire development lifecycle, including ideation and identifying requirements. Moderate technical discussions, evaluate new techniques, and ensure our platform is constantly evolving and improving. Leverage best practices in automation testing and deployment to enable rapid iteration and launch of new features. Help build a culture where bugs and mistakes in production are treated as opportunities to improve the platform. Mentor junior engineers ensuring appropriate use of UI frameworks and component libraries. What we're looking for MS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Strong fundamental computer science skills. 6+ years of software engineering experience. advanced-level knowledge in a modern component-based frontend framework and proficiency with strongly-typed languages. Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale software products in high volume consumer facing applications. Experience with consuming and interacting with RESTful APIs and gRPC frameworks. Deep understanding of Agile engineering processes that support the entire software development life cycle, including TDD/BDD, CI/CD and related build/test/deploy processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences. The anticipated base salary for this position is $130,000.00 USD to $200,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. The Role The Data team at Metropolis is seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to the vision and development of the next generation of analytic data tools for our internal and external customers. In this role, you will work closely with business partners to understand their data needs, gather requirements, identify data and reporting solutions, and collaborate with the data engineering teams to prioritize, develop and deliver on the data and reporting solutions. We are looking for someone who has strong Product instincts and understands how to create insights and not just reports. You will rely on your skills as an excellent communicator to collaborate with stakeholders in Product, Engineering, Sales, Operations and Growth to understand their data needs and build solutions that help drive business impact. In addition to interfacing with non-technical team members, you will rely on your strong technical skills to collaborate with Senior and Staff engineers in the Application Development and Platform Engineering teams to ensure that the products that they are building are compatible with Data Analytics best practices. You will use your strong problem-solving skills to dig into performance issues and ensure that all analytics we create meet our SLAs. We want you to evangelize best practices when it comes to Data Analytics and Data Engineering and help build a best-in-class Data Warehouse platform. Responsibilities • Serve as the primary data partner for key business teams, helping them define their analytics roadmaps and prioritize projects that drive business value. • Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using Tableau to provide teams with actionable insights. • Craft complex SQL queries and perform ad hoc analysis to answer critical business questions and evaluate the impact of new features. • Translate complex data findings into clear, compelling stories for both technical and non-technical audiences. • Contribute to the evolution of the data warehouse by collaborating with Data Engineering teams. • Build and maintain the Data Catalog or Data Dictionary to support data discovery and ensure data governance. • Establish best practices and guidelines for data quality, privacy, and access control. • Identify opportunities to improve the analytics platform's performance and report usage. • Collaborate with engineering teams to define service level agreements (SLAs) for data products. • Mentor and guide junior members of the data team. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent. • 7+ years of experience in an Analytics or Business Intelligence role. • 5+ years of experience performing complex data analysis and demonstrating mastery with SQL. • 5+ years of experience developing visualizations and dashboards in Tableau or a similar BI tool. • 3+ years of experience using dbt and Snowflake. • Expertise in relational and dimensional database structures, principles, and best practices. • Proven ability to collaborate with Data Engineering teams to architect a data platform. • Experience working in Agile SCRUM teams. • Strong project management and independent work skills. • The ideal candidate is excited to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
