The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining successful operations of an assigned area, department, or shift of the warehouse/distribution center. They ensure that the department has adequate staffing, proper training, the needed tools and resources, standards of productivity, safety and sanitation, and proper procedures of stocking, selection, and quality that will meet customer demands for accurate, quality, on-time deliveries. What You’ll Do As a Distribution Supervisor • Direct and motivate teammates. • Communicate company and division information to teammates. • Listen, address and follow-up to teammate concerns, questions and problems. • Facilitate communication within the warehouse leadership team and between division/warehouse leadership and teammates. • Understand DC goals and standards, implement department procedures to meet those standards, and promote them to and gain buy-in and positive results from teammates; standards may include but will not be limited to: productivity, order quality, damages, shrinkage, safety, sanitation, turnover and overtime. • Ensure department and warehouse procedures will cut unnecessary costs, add value for customers, and improve morale and the work environment for teammates. • Ensure the work environment is maintained in a clean and safe manner following government, company and Silliker standards. • Supervise and manage daily work of department teammates. • Create and maintain schedules and job assignments of department teammates. • Maintain all departmental paperwork. • Provide training as needed to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable workforce. • Provide coaching/corrective action, training and development for teammates. • Enforce all Distribution Center policies and issue coaching/corrective action as needed. • Ensure adherence to proper operational and safety procedures. • Be a visible and a vocal advocate for safety. • Relieve other supervisor(s) during their vacations. • Comply with company work and safety rules. • Be trained and certified to operate any required equipment within 30 days after hire. • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the Distribution Center; work schedules may require working an early shift, staying long for a late shift, and weekend work depending on the customer and operational requirements of the division. • Work in warm and cold temperature conditions that may range from 38°F to 110°F; a supervisor assigned to the freezer must be able to periodically work in temperatures as cold as -10°F. • Periodically stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp and reach above the head as needed. • Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications You’ll Bring As a Distribution Supervisor • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. • A bachelor’s degree is preferred. • Have 2 years distribution warehouse experience, preferably in the grocery industry. • Have experience leading large numbers of warehouse staff with experience in hiring, training, motivating and resolving employee relation’s issues. • Have computer knowledge to include experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. • Demonstrate the ability to lead by example. • Possess good written and verbal communication skills. • Be willing to listen and respond to teammates. • Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and teammates. • Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. What You’ll Do As a Warehouse Selector • Select product and load trucks, moving product between the loading dock and the warehouse and moving product within the warehouse. • May work in various areas of the warehouse such as Dry, Refrigerated, Perishables, Freezer, and others. • McLane provides freezer suits, hats, and gloves to you. • Review documents and record information; verify quantity, identity, availability, and condition of product. • Drive and operate a reach truck and pallet jack to select, pull, sort, and stack product within the warehouse and dock. • Hand-stack product on occasion when items are off balance or in the wrong location. • Shrink-wrap and label outgoing orders and remove shrink wrap from incoming orders. • Clean work area. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications You’ll Bring As a Warehouse Teammate • At least 18 years of age. • Able to perform accurate visual inspections and repeatedly lift to 50 pounds or more. • At least 1 year of distribution warehouse experience, including operation of reach truck, pallet jack, and forklift is preferred, but not required. • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. What You’ll Do As a Logistics Analyst • Analyze performance by carrier partners (decline, on time, systems data updates, low margin), and identify strategies to improve poor performance. • Resource other logistics options or Transportation modes to improve current performance. • Work with other groups in monitoring prepaid/embedded lanes for conversion to profitable Collect or Vantix margin lanes. • Work on continuous process improvement strategies for lane conversion and analysis. • Work with internal partners in backhaul conversions. • Negotiate directly with carriers directly on matters related to spot shipments, claims, and accessorial charges. • Serve as direct contact for McLane divisions, Procurement, and Suppliers on all aspects of inbound freight related to specific purchase order questions on a daily basis. • Negotiate freight cost and provide specific cost feedback to customers. • Provide specific feedback to Vantix management related to service reporting and inbound freight margin loss. • Investigate and resolve all matters related to carrier accessorial charges on behalf of Kinexo • Coordinate meetings with multiple carriers during annual, monthly and quarterly reviews. • Foster relationships with carrier’s partners with long-term goals of controlling/improving transportation costs. • Attend conventions/seminars/meetings to market Vantix to internal, external and carrier partners. • Work with Logistics Systems Analyst with training new carriers with compliance to systems needs. • Audit reports - monthly and quarterly (carrier decline, on time, low margin, L14, L16). • Identifying low performing lanes and carriers from current/new reports and determine strategies to improve performance directly related to Kenexo Logistics financial performance. • Review reports and processes to make them more efficient, timely and relevant. • Spot market growth and cost reduction. Qualifications You’ll Bring As a Logistics Analyst • Have a BS or BA degree in Transportation, Logistics, or commensurate experience in logistics environment. • Have an understanding of business logistics and supply chain management, including transportation, distribution and customer service. • Have 2+ years in logistics or operations environment. • Have creativity, problem solving and strong analytical and communication skills. • Be knowledgeable of information systems, including experience working with and designing relational databases (strong database and spreadsheet knowledge is essential). • Have experience with MS Access, MS Excel and MS Outlook. • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely.
