BSMR, a segment within US Pharmaceutical Distribution, is responsible for all domestic drug purchase and distribution contracting with Specialty and Brand pharmaceutical manufacturers. McKesson's distribution networks supply pharmaceutical products and other healthcare-related services and technology products to a wide range of retail pharmacy, health system and physician clinic providers. Our nationwide network of full line and regional specialty distribution centers supplies medication to 1/3 of all healthcare providers in the United States. McKesson frequently invests in technology and other systems to enhance the quality, safety and reliability of our distribution services and technology offerings. Our relationship with pharmaceutical manufacturers is a key component of the success of our business. Position Description Primary responsibilities: • Provides independent legal support for contract drafting, negotiation and strategy for complex, material and sensitive Specialty and Brand distribution agreements with manufacturer partners • Accountable for coordination of legal risk tolerances and contracting standards, processes, and strategy in support of key distribution agreements across both the Specialty and Brand product manufacturer segments • Serves as a legal advisor to BSMR senior leadership and account directors, on a wide array of topics relating to the Brand and Specialty manufacturer segment needs, including legal risk mitigation, manufacturer relationship management and strategic initiatives • Engages in frequent interactions with other internal legal and business stakeholders across matrixed and functional groups Key Relationships Reports to: Managing Principal Counsel, BSMR Key Clients: BSMR VPs and Account Directors Minimum Requirements • 13+ years of corporate law experience • Large private law firm experience combined with in-house experience, strongly preferred Critical Skills • Excellent commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills • High comfort providing healthcare regulatory advice (including Anti-kickback law, False Claims Act, government price reporting, 340B, antitrust, DSCSA) • Experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturer space (FDA market access, supply chain channel strategy) • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to all levels within the company, including senior business executives • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in navigating evolving business priorities, regulatory landscapes and organizational change. • Highly responsive, proactive, solutions-oriented approach • Ability to work closely with, facilitate interactions with and influence large cross-functional teams (including representatives from other areas of the law department, regulatory and compliance professionals, sellside business colleagues and operations managers) • Proven track record of thought leadership in handling complex and sensitive healthcare transactions • Notable business acumen dealing with risk management and organizational savvy • Must be a team player who can develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively with internal clients and other members of the legal senior team • Ability to lead by example including a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and undertake day-to-day legal work Education • Juris Doctor Degree with excellent academic credentials.
