Compensation$85K - 130K a year

Build full-stack features focusing on Google Drive and OAuth, and design agentic workflows for security risk automation. | Strong backend and systems skills with experience integrating third-party APIs, comfortable with TypeScript/React, and interest in LLM-based agents. | As a Senior Software Engineer on our Cloud Office Security team at Material Security, you'll join an early, remote-first team of experienced engineers building the next generation of protection for customers' Google Workspace environments. You'll work end-to-end — frontend and backend — on the Google Drive and OAuth surfaces of our product, and you'll play a leading role in integrating agentic workflows that help security teams investigate and remediate risk faster than ever before. This is a high-ownership role for someone who loves shipping polished product experiences, enjoys the messy realities of integrating with third-party APIs at scale, and is excited about putting LLM-based agents into real production workflows where correctness and trust matter. Responsibilities Build full-stack features across the Google Drive and OAuth areas of our Cloud Office Security product, owning them from design through production. Design and ship agentic workflows that automate detection, investigation, and remediation of security risks in customer environments. Integrate deeply with Google Workspace APIs, building reliable pipelines that handle real-world data at scale. Partner closely with product and design to ship the highest-impact features for our customers. Collaborate with adjacent product and platform teams to expose Cloud Office Security capabilities throughout the product. Contribute to a great engineering culture through active participation, code review, and mentorship. What We’re Looking For Strong Backend & Systems Skills: Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to ship high-quality backend code. You're comfortable designing and operating systems that integrate with third-party APIs at scale — rate limits, retries, idempotency, and messy data are familiar territory. Full-Stack Comfort: You can work across the stack and are comfortable contributing to the frontend (TypeScript/React) when features require it. Deep frontend specialization isn't required, but you should be effective shipping end-to-end. Product Sense: You care about the user experience and can make reasonable UX trade-offs with design partners. Curiosity About Agentic Systems: Experience or strong interest in building LLM-powered agents in production, including prompt design, tool use, and evaluation. Technical Maturity & Ownership: You write high-quality code without much oversight, understand which risks to take and which to avoid, and stay engaged through production rollout and beyond. Attitude & Ambition: Smart, hard-working, humble, and not afraid to fail. Team-first but willing to take the lead with minimal guidance. -- Material Security is a remote-first workplace with an office in San Francisco, California. Build polished, fast, and reliable user interfaces with React. Collaborate with product, design, and backend engineering to deliver meaningful features. | Candidates should have solid software engineering fundamentals and be proficient in frontend coding. They should also demonstrate strong ownership and the ability to communicate effectively. | As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Material Security, you’ll be part of a small, high‑impact team building the next generation of security for Google Workspace and O365 using modern React and Typescript. You’ll own key parts of our platform, creating fast, elegant, and reliable interfaces that simply solve complex security needs and protect our users’ most sensitive data. Responsibilities Build polished, fast, and reliable user interfaces with React that customers love to use. Work hand‑in‑hand with product, design, and backend engineering to deliver complete, meaningful features. Keep our frontend codebase healthy, maintainable, and a joy to work in. Set a high bar for code quality, maintainability, and user experience. Embody our values, especially “Start with Yes”. What We’re Looking For Technical Ability: Solid software engineering fundamentals, raw coding ability, and problem-solving ability are key. Ideal candidates are prolific but careful frontend coders in at least one mainstream language and have the ability to easily pick up new ones (i.e. Typescript). They can quickly identify the best ways to tackle challenging problems while explaining their decisions to teammates. Technical Maturity: Our engineering team punches above its weight because everyone can write very high-quality code without too much oversight. The foresight to understand what risks we should/should-not take is crucial to reliably ship production code. Ownership: We love engineers who deeply care about the impact of their work and find satisfaction in a job well done. Strong ownership starts before the first line of code (is this the right approach?) and continues after the last commit is merged (now that we've shipped, how is this behaving in prod?). Attitude & Ambition: The best candidates are smart, hard-working, competitive, and not afraid to fail. They are team first but willing to take the lead with minimal guidance and supervision. Communication & Collaboration: We love teammates who can articulate challenges and solutions while actively supporting their peers.
