Oversee international treaty and retrocession operations, ensuring compliance, process efficiency, and stakeholder coordination. | Requires 6+ years in reinsurance/insurance operations, understanding of treaties, strong analytical skills, and experience with international regulatory frameworks. | Key Duties and Responsibilities International Treaty Operations Oversee operational execution for non‑U.S. reinsurance treaties, ensuring alignment with local regulatory, reporting, and compliance requirements. Manage treaty lifecycle requirements — cedant onboarding, account setup, transaction processing, data mapping, , and reporting timelines and settlement logistics — for international cedants per contractual requirements. Establish and maintain global treaty playbooks, operational documentation, and reporting templates across international product lines and collateral solutions. Retrocession Operations Management Support the execution and ongoing administration of Martello Re’s retrocession arrangements, including reporting, data exchange, settlements, true‑ups, and counterparty coordination. Collaborate with Risk, Actuarial, Finance and Investments to ensure retrocession activities align with corporate risk appetite and capital strategy. Track and deliver all reporting requirements associated with retrocession agreements across multiple jurisdictions against established KPIs. Process & Controls Design and implement scalable, efficient operational processes tailored to cross‑border regulatory frameworks. Develop and maintain controls that ensure accuracy, transparency, and audit readiness for treaty and retrocession operations. Identify opportunities to enhance global process standardization, automation, and integration. Cross‑Functional and External Coordination Act as a key liaison with international cedants, retrocession partners, custodians, service providers, and internal teams. Facilitate communication of policies, procedures, and expectations related to compliance, operational risk, and regulatory matters. Ensure proactive coordination and timely communication regarding settlement cycles, deadlines, account changes, and transaction requirements. Operational Reporting & Deliverables Co-ordinate and track reporting validations in line with treaty obligations, internal KPIs, and international filing requirements. Support the review, reconciliation, and settlement of international cash flows, reserves, premiums, and claims. Maintain robust data governance and accuracy in operational reporting across all non‑U.S. treaty activities. Strategic Initiatives Contribute to process redesign, system improvements, and transformation projects as the company grows. Serve as a subject matter expert on international reinsurance operational nuances. Participate in initiatives related to expanding Martello Re’s global footprint and enhancing international operational capabilities. Other duties as assigned Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field; professional designations (FLMI, ARA, CERA) preferred. 6+ years of experience in (re)insurance, retrocession, finance or operations within a life & annuity or asset intensive (re)insurance environment. Demonstrated understanding of Reinsurance Agreements, structures, operational and stakeholder requirements. Experience in fast‑paced, growth‑oriented or startup environments is highly valued. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones and cultures. Required Skills Strong quantitative and analytical skills with excellent problem‑solving capability. Supervisory Responsibilities May oversee junior operational staff as team capacity expands. The Investment Operations Director will lead the development of Martello Re’s Investment Operations function, establishing the target operating model, infrastructure, processes, and controls required to support a sophisticated and expanding investment portfolio of complex structures and asset classes across the U.S. and international markets with FX and derivative capability requirements. This role partners closely with Investments, Finance, Risk, Actuarial, Technology, working with external asset managers to ensure effective data feed management, enhanced investment data quality, seamless execution and operational rigor, to effectively support the investment and reporting lifecycle. Key Duties And Responsibilities Investment Operations Framework & Governance • Develop the Investment Operations framework aligned with Martello Re’s strategy and regulatory requirements. • Enhance and automate workflows on trade reviews, validations and reconciliation executed trades to support Investment strategy with adherence to governance and documented policies for Investment Operations. • Establish and maintain strong internal controls on Investment Operations that support accurate, timely investment data feed management and reconciliation. Operational Infrastructure & Process Design • Lead onboarding, implementation and integration of asset manager data feeds to support new reinsurance transactions and strategic asset classes. • Partner with service providers, Investments, Accounting and Technology to implement systems that support investment data, accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and data workflows. • Design scalable processes to support the investment lifecycle including diverse asset manager data feed onboarding for trade operations, asset transfers, reconciliations, close reviews and reporting oversight. Portfolio Data, Reporting & Analytics • Oversee investment data governance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and audit‑readiness. • Lead data feed mapping and reporting for investment data validation by Investments, Accounting and Finance teams. • Maintain controls related to valuations, performance reporting, and compliance monitoring. Cross‑Functional and External Coordination • Serve as the primary operational liaison to external asset managers, Clearwater, custodians, and administrators. • Collaborate across functional teams including Actuarial, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Strategic Initiatives to ensure transparency and accuracy of investment data and reports. • Optimizing operational processes across the investment portfolio for operational efficiency and scalability. Leadership & Execution • Act as a strategic partner to the Head of Operations and senior leadership. • Build and develop a high‑performing Investment Operations capability as the organization grows. • Demonstrate sound judgment and adaptability within a fast‑paced environment. Other duties as assigned Required Education And Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or related field; advanced credentials (CFA, CAIA, FRM, MBA) preferred. • 10+ years of experience in investment operations, investment accounting, or portfolio administration within insurance, reinsurance, or asset management. • Experience working with Asset Managers and/or investment and accounting systems or data platforms such as Clearwater, FactSet, Bloomberg, and Microsoft Suite. • Knowledge or experience with life & annuity or Asset-intensive (re)insurance structures, and U.S. and Bermuda regulatory environments strongly preferred. • Proven experience designing and implementing operational processes and controls in high‑growth or transformational settings.
