Lead platform and backend projects, build and maintain shared libraries, services, and internal APIs, improve developer workflows, and harden production systems for reliability and scalability. | Proven track record of shipping high-quality code, significant experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, strong problem-solving skills, and knowledge of security best practices. | About Luminai Healthcare operations have always depended on people to bridge the gaps that technology couldn't. It relies on complex manual work to carry out critical internal processes, yet most health systems don’t have enough resources to properly automate these tasks, leaving them stuck in outdated, labor-intensive SOPs. Luminai structures the chaos, automates the manual handoffs, and deploys end-to-end workflows across every system, providing the integrated intelligence layer to improve processes over time. By delegating to autonomous AI systems those mission-critical workflows that previously expended valuable human time, Luminai allows doctors and administrators to do what they do best: Focus on Patients. We've raised $60M in funding, including our recent Series B led by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia India), with participation from healthcare-focused Define Ventures and continued support from General Catalyst and Y Combinator. We're backed by some of the best investors in Silicon Valley, including Kevin Weil (Chief Product Officer at OpenAI), Arash Ferdowsi (co-founder of Dropbox), Katie Stanton (former VP Global Media, Twitter), and CEOs of companies such as Flexport, Notion, Front, Ramp, and Twitch. Our team is in-office 4 days a week (Monday - Friday, Wednesday optional WFH) in either San Fransisco, California or New York, New York. Our team is in-office 4 days a week (Monday - Friday, Wednesday optional WFH) in either San Fransisco, California or New York, New York. About the role As a Staff Software Engineer working on Platform, you will play a foundational role in designing, implementing and spearheading the core platform development. The platform is used by organizations worldwide to deploy and scale executable AI automations in mission critical production environments. As a senior member of the engineering team, you are expected to have a strong proficiency in fundamentals of software engineering and exceptional ability to drive technical projects in ambitious technical environments. You will help define, architect and improve key system foundations that allows the overall engineering team to execute effectively and deliver a stellar platform experience for users within a high growth team. What You'll Do Design and maintain the core frameworks, libraries, and shared packages that product engineers build on every day Own developer experience end to end, including local dev environments, build systems, CI/CD, test infrastructure, and time-to-first-commit for new hires Build and maintain the tooling that keeps quality high without slowing anyone down: linters, formatters, static analysis, codegen, and automated checks Find and remove the bottlenecks in how we ship, then re-architect foundational abstractions to hold up as the team and the product scale Lead core technical initiatives that set the quality bar in the codebase Define and scale experimentation, monitoring, reliability, and observability for production systems Drive improvements to the core Luminai IDE to deliver a great experience for end users Set sane defaults for how the platform handles access control, secrets management, and authentication, so the systems others build on are safe without extra effort What We're Looking For 8+ years as a software engineer, including zero to one projects you drove from scratch Track record of shipping high-quality code on hard problems Experience building internal frameworks, libraries, or developer tooling that other engineers depended on, and a real interest in making them better Direct experience designing high performance backend systems in production, with judgment about the architectural trade-offs involved Working familiarity with a modern infrastructure stack (Kafka, Kubernetes, or similar) Solid grasp of security fundamentals for backend and cloud systems (authN/authZ, secrets management, encryption) Bonus Familiarity with frontend foundations (JS toolchain, bundlers, build systems). Not required, but useful for platform work that reaches into the client

Our team is in-office 4 days a week (Monday - Friday, Wednesday optional WFH) in either San Fransisco, California or New York, New York. The Role We’re looking for a Strategy Lead to help Luminai decide where to focus and how to win as we expand our footprint across healthcare operations. You’ll work closely with company leadership and Product, Engineering, Deployment, & Commercial teams to identify promising domains, shape high-value use cases, and turn market insight into clear strategic direction. This is a high-ownership role at the intersection of strategy, product development, and execution. You’ll help define the orchestration layer healthcare should have had all along, turning raw model capability into institutional change at the messy, high-stakes edge where AI has to be reliable, governed, and genuinely useful. Your work will directly influence what we build, how we position it, and where we focus. What You’ll Do Research promising domains and workflow areas for Luminai, and assess their attractiveness based on customer needs, market opportunity, competitive dynamics, and fit with Luminai’s capabilities Develop clear points of view on how Luminai should proceed within a domain, including which use cases to prioritize, where we have the strongest wedge, and what will need to be true to win Build a practical understanding of the competitive landscape, articulate where Luminai is - and needs to be - differentiated, and help ensure our roadmap reinforces that distinctive platform vision. Help shape how offerings should be packaged, positioned, and taken to market across different buyers and stakeholders Partner closely with Product and Engineering to inform roadmap direction, serving as a strong voice of the customer grounded in a deep understanding of real workflows, constraints, and operating environments. Build relationships with domain experts and external operators who can sharpen our thinking and help us learn faster Support early product-side work with the commercial team, including customer conversations, opportunity shaping, and strategic deal support Identify and evaluate promising partnership opportunities, assess which are strategically worth pursuing, and selectively help forge relationships that accelerate our product, go-to-market, or market position Take ownership of ambiguous, high-priority problems from open question to clear recommendation, bringing structure and strong judgment with minimal need for direction What We’re Looking For 8+ years of relevant experience across strategy consulting, product, healthcare operations, business development, company-building, or related leadership roles Significant healthcare experience is a must, ideally with exposure to health systems and how they buy and operate Strong product instincts, with experience helping shape real products, solutions, or workflow-based offerings, and connecting market opportunity to practical execution Demonstrated track record of strong performance in demanding environments; no single background is required, but evidence of excellence is Ability to independently drive complex, cross-functional work from problem definition through recommendation and execution, owning ambiguous problems end-to-end rather than operating in a narrow lane Evidence of independent business development judgment, including spotting promising opportunities, shaping them thoughtfully, and turning them into real customer or partner momentum Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences Bonus: Experience in AI, workflow automation, enterprise software, or adjacent healthcare technology categories Bonus: Experience working closely with forward-deployed teams and health system operators to connect strategy with how work actually runs in production SF Bay Area or New York City strongly preferred; relocation support available for the right candidate.
