Perform skilled tree trimming, operate equipment, and ensure safety and proper maintenance. | High school diploma or equivalent, minimum 3 years of tree trimming experience involving climbing, and ability to operate related equipment. | Under supervision would perform skilled tree trimming that would be horticulturally-sound and at the same time enhance the aesthetic of the existing Landscape Maintenance Program. Maintain athletic fields including turf care, equipment operation, and safety compliance. | Minimum 2 years of athletic field maintenance experience, valid pesticide license or ability to obtain, and computer competency. | Maintain five athletic fields creating safe, high quality playing surfaces for baseball, softball, soccer, and two practice fields. POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintenance on both baseball and softball fields, including skin, homeplate, pitchers mound, bullbens, baselines, and warning track. • Aerate, Topdress, and Overseed all athletic fields. • Safely apply fertilizer and pesticides with various hand and power spray equipment. • Disease observation and identification (Identify insects, diseases, weeds and/or organisms or elements attacking plant material and take the appropriate steps to eradicate the problem.) • Prepare athletic fields (e.g. drag/layout/line fields, repairing rodent damage, divots, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate, attractive and safe areas for assemblies, recreational activities and/or athletic events. Manage and supervise student-led service trips and immersion programs, handle budgeting and risk management, develop community partnerships, and facilitate advocacy and leadership training. | Requires 3-4 years of experience in international development, non-profit sector, student immersion program management, or higher education programming, a relevant master's degree or equivalent experience, cultural competency, and strong collaboration and communication skills. | The purpose of this position is to promote community service and cultural exchange on the local, national, and international levels through direct service and immersion programs. The Alternative Breaks (AB) Assistant Director will facilitate and direct student efforts to heighten social awareness about concrete social challenges faced by poor and marginalized communities and empower students to approach service as a mutually-transforming partnership with the community being served. This position reports to the Associate Director of Student Engagement in the Pam Rector Center for Service and Action.
