The Opportunity • @rap is one of the fastest growing hip-hop brands on the internet with an authentic editorial voice that reflects how young rap fans engage with the culture today • As an Editorial Contributor, you’ll pitch and write timely stories that speak directly to that audience. Your byline will appear on RapTV.com, and your work will help shape how editorial stories come to life across social • If you’re passionate about hip-hop, fluent in how stories travel across the internet, and can deliver clean, on-brand writing quickly—read on Responsibilities • Proactively monitor artist news trending topics, and internet conversations to identify timely, culturally relevant story opportunities • Submit 10 thoughtful content pitches per week that align with RapTV’s voice, audience, and editorial priorities • Write 3 assigned articles per week with clean copy and on-brand tone • Use internal editorial guides (voice, sourcing, headlines) to complete assignments independently and efficiently • Communicate clearly with the editorial lead about progress, questions, and deliverables—meeting agreed-upon deadlines • Make data-informed decisions: double down on content that drives engagement, and evolve away from what doesn’t • Own your editorial output by consistently applying feedback to improve future assignments Must Have • 1–3 years of experience in freelance writing, editorial copywriting, or content creation, with relevant published work • 1-3 years of experience publishing for web and/or social-first brands—bonus if you’ve written for sites or accounts with large audiences • Strong understanding and love of hip-hop culture, from mainstream to up-and-coming • Familiarity and knowledge of audience-favorite artists like Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Tyler, the Creator, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong eye for tone, grammar, structure, and brand voice • Strong understanding of journalism standards, including fact-checking and ethical coverage of artists • Deep fluency in Gen Z internet behavior—you know what’s trending, how stories travel, and what makes content hit Nice to Have • Experience adapting editorial content for social—writing headlines, captions, and copy for posts like IG carousels, X threads, or TikTok overlays • Familiarity with SEO best practices, Google Trends, and writing headlines optimized for search • Proven ability to write across editorial formats—including rankings, breaking news, explainers, hot takes, and evergreen topics • Experience working with content management systems (WordPress, Notion, etc.) RapTV is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
