Compensation$118K - 162K a year

Build prototypes and polished user experiences for iOS-native surfaces in a fast-paced, AI-native startup environment. | Requires deep Swift and SwiftUI experience, zero-to-one product development, strong design sense, and AI-native workflows. | About Life360 Life360’s mission is to keep people close to the ones they love. Our category-leading mobile app,Tile tracking devices, and Pet GPS tracker empower members to protect the people, pets, and things they care about most with a range of services, including location sharing, safe driver reports, and crash detection with emergency dispatch. Life360 serves approximately 97.8 million monthly active users (MAU), as of March 31, 2026, across more than 180 countries. Life360 delivers peace of mind and enhances everyday family life with seamless coordination for all the moments that matter, big and small. By continuing to innovate and deliver for our customers, we have become a household name and the must-have mobile-based membership for families (and those friends who are basically family). Life360 has more than 500 (and growing!) remote-first employees. For more information, please visit life360.com. Life360 is a Remote First company, which means a remote work environment will be the primary experience for all employees. All positions, unless otherwise specified, can be performed remotely (within the US and Canada) regardless of any specified location above. We are AI Native We are building an AI native company where AI is an integral part of how we build and operate. AI tool usage during interviews varies by role. You may be asked to demonstrate proficiency with AI tools, discuss how you leverage AI, or complete interview exercises without AI assistance. Your Recruiter will provide clear guidance as you move through the interview process. Undisclosed use of AI not previously discussed with or approved by your Recruiter may impact your candidacy. About The Team The AI Lab is a small, founder-led team operating like a zero-to-one startup inside Life360, building the company’s next chapter. Our mission is to transform Life360 from the app you open to find your family into an intelligent operating system families rely on daily. We design and build an AI-powered layer on top of our family graph, leveraging our core location technologies and global 100 million-user base to proactively surface what matters across location, schedules, and everyday life. About The Job This role is hard to title because the lines between engineering, design, and product blur fast when you are building the way we are building. The closest description is design-oriented builder. You have a strong aesthetic sense and real opinions about how a product should feel. You can take a loose idea and make it tangible before anyone has finished writing the spec. You understand the value of a polished user experience in the context of agentic software and how to deliver one. You work directly with design, product, and the founder. You are part of the creative process, not downstream of it. The work is not "here is a Figma, build it." The work is "here is a rough idea, what does the first working version look like by the end of day, and what do we learn when we put it in front of someone." You thrive without traditional specs and get real energy out of shipping something new every day. Energy and momentum matter as much as skill. The US-based salary range for this position is $118,000 to $161,500 USD. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity. What You’ll Do • Primarily remote with the flexibility to collaborate in-person as business needs and projects require • Take rough ideas (sketches, voice memos, half-finished docs) and turn them into something real and clickable, fast. The first version is usually the same day. • Build prototypes for the surfaces that make the product tangible: the map, widgets, Live Activities, Dynamic Island, voice, in-app moments where information surfaces automatically. (These are iOS-native surfaces — you've shipped at least a few of them.) • Make tasteful UI calls without waiting for design to spec every pixel. Design refines. You get it 80% there. • Sit in the room when product direction gets debated. Push back when something doesn't feel right. We need engineers who are part of the conversation, not waiting for the output. • Use AI tooling aggressively. Orchestrate agents to generate code, write tests, and review your work. The whole point of this team is that a small group with the right tools outperforms a much larger one. • Ship to test groups, watch how people actually use what you built, iterate. The feedback loop is short and you are inside it. What We’re Looking For If there's one trait we need above all others, it's self-starter energy. As we've gotten bigger, we've been more open to roles with clearly defined schedules and processes. That doesn't work in a startup. We need people on founder hours, not office hours — with a huge desire to win. You'll be a cofounder of this initiative. • You operate without a spec. You'd rather have a conversation, a sketch, and 24 hours than a 30-page PRD and a week. • You ship every day (or close to it). Not "make progress." Ship. Even rough. Even ugly. Momentum matters more than polish at this stage. You're comfortable showing it before it's ready and letting it get torn apart in service of getting to the right thing. • You push for more. You won't wait to be told what to do. You demand excellence of yourself and the people around you. • You hold strong opinions and change them when the evidence moves. You push back. You concede fast when wrong. • You're a customer of what we build. Try it if you haven't. • Swift is your primary language, but you're comfortable picking up new tools when the product demands it. The bar • Deep experience building consumer mobile or web products that real people use. You know what good feels like on a phone, and you know how it fails. • Zero-to-one stage experience and the desire to do it again. • Taste. You can articulate why one design works and another doesn't. You have references. You notice details other people miss. • You can move from a blank screen to a working prototype without anyone holding your hand. Specs make you slower, not faster. • Deep in Swift and SwiftUI. You know the Apple ecosystem — Apple Foundation Model, App Intent are plus. • AI-native in your daily workflow. Hands-on with Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent. Deep experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context window management, MCP / function calling. Bonus • Map-based or location-driven product work. You understand the design problems unique to spatial UI. Our Benefits • Competitive pay and benefits. • Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for US employees). We offer supplemental plans for medical and dental for Canadian employees. • 401(k) plan with company matching program in the US and RRSP with DPSP plan for Canadian employees. • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental wellness. • Flexible PTO and 12 company wide days off throughout the year. • Learning & Development programs. • Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment. • Free Life360 Platinum Membership for your preferred circle. Life360 Values Our company’s mission driven culture is guided by our shared values to create a trusted work environment where you can bring your authentic self to work and make a positive difference • Be a Good Person - We have a team of high integrity people you can trust. • Be Direct With Respect - We communicate directly, even when it’s hard. • Members Before Metrics - We focus on building an exceptional experience for families. • High Intensity High Impact - We do whatever it takes to get the job done. Our Commitment to Diversity We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Life360. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any legally protected status. We encourage people of all backgrounds to apply. We believe that a diversity of perspectives and experiences create a foundation for the best ideas. Come join us in building something meaningful. About The Team The Experimentation & Machine Learning Intelligence team at Life360 sits within the Growth org and builds the platforms and services that let the company learn and personalize at scale. We own the experimentation platform (A/B testing, feature flagging, metrics and analysis) and the infrastructure behind our recommendation and personalization systems — the data pipelines, feature stores, and online serving paths that turn signals into better member experiences. Our work helps every product team ship with confidence and measure real impact for the families who rely on Life360. We are a product-minded, AI-Native engineering team. That means AI isn’t just a tool we use — it’s how we work. We’ve redesigned our team workflows around AI, treating it as a first-class collaborator at every stage: ideation, coding, testing, review, and iteration. We ship faster and go deeper because of it, and we’re looking for someone who wants to help define what that looks like at scale. About the Job Life360 is hiring a backend AI-Native Senior Software Engineer II — a senior engineer who doesn’t just use AI tools, but thinks natively in them. You'll be central to how the team builds its experimentation and ML infrastructure, develops its services, and how we use AI for development in the future. You'll design and build the systems that power experimentation and recommendation at Life360 — high-throughput data pipelines, low-latency serving services, feature infrastructure, and the alerting and monitoring that keep them reliable. Our serving infrastructure runs at consumer internet scale, where milliseconds matter and an experimental misconfiguration can affect the experience of millions of families within hours. You’ll build and evolve our modern AI-Native engineering workflows — from how we write code, to how we run standups, to how we think about team velocity. You'll publish AI-native backend engineering playbooks the broader eng org adopts. In year one, success looks like having shipped meaningful improvements to the experimentation platform, established agentic workflow playbooks the broader engineering org can adopt, and operating with demonstrably higher velocity than a non-AI-native engineer in a comparable role. For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $118,500 to $216,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $171,500 to $201,000 CAD. Note: Please be aware that the job title for positions in Canada will be "Developer" in lieu of "Engineer." We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity. What You’ll Do • Design and build high-quality APIs and services for our experimentation platform and recommendation/personalization systems — experiences that are reliable, performant, and genuinely useful to product teams and members. • Work with AI (Claude Code) as a first-class collaborator — your primary workflow involves orchestrating agents to create specs, generate code and tests, verify results, and perform reviews. • Help define and codify AI-Native engineering practices for the team, establishing playbooks the broader org can adopt. • Build across the backend stack as needed — shipping polished, performant, and reliable experiences to tens of millions of users. • Collaborate closely with product managers and data teams to turn complex user problems into elegant, scalable engineering solutions. • Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and a culture of craft and continuous improvement. • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response. • Use agentic workflows to dramatically increase the delivery of strong outcomes — moving faster without sacrificing quality. • Mentor team members and contribute to team processes, technical standards, and help evolve the team's AI-native engineering practices. • Support performance, reliability, and accessibility across the features you own. What We’re Looking For Technical foundation: • 6+ years of backend software engineering experience • Strong proficiency with Java and Spring Boot (this is our primary stack) • Experience with Apache Kafka or similar distributed streaming platforms • Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts: consistency, fault tolerance, replication, and data durability • Comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and containerized deployments • Heavy user of agentic workflows, understands research-plan-implement cycle but doesn’t outsource thinking to agents • At least 1 year of hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs What matters most to us: • Growth mindset - You structure problems precisely, you learn quickly, you can show interest outside “your lane”, and you are always happy to try something new • Collaborative approach - You communicate clearly, work well across teams, and value diverse perspectives • Ownership mentality - You take responsibility for your work from design through production and beyond • AI-native working style - You use AI tooling (Claude Code or equivalent) as a genuine development partner: delegating discrete tasks, reviewing outputs critically, and running parallel workstreams rather than hand-holding one agent at a time • Thoughtful communication - You can explain technical tradeoffs and articulate ideas effectively • We believe culture fit and problem-solving ability matter more than checking every technical box. We're happy to help you grow into areas where you have less experience. Nice-to-Have • Experience building or operating experimentation, A/B testing platforms or feature-flagging systems • Experience supporting recommendation, personalization, or ML-serving systems (feature stores, online/offline pipelines, low-latency model serving) • Background in stream processing frameworks (Kafka Streams, Flink) • Experience with schema registries and schema evolution strategies • Knowledge of Confluent Platform or Confluent Cloud • Understanding of CI/CD patterns, GitHub Actions, and artifact management (Maven, Nexus) • Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog) • Previous work on ecosystems or integration tooling AI-Native Expectations We use AI coding tools as a professional standard on this team. Here's what that means in practice: • Daily use: You use AI coding assistants (we support Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot) for real, substantive tasks: analysis, coding, refactoring, testing, navigating codebases, and documentation. Not just research or autocomplete. • Judgment and ownership: AI-generated code gets the same review you'd give any PR. You are accountable for everything you ship. • Velocity: We expect senior engineers who use AI well to operate with meaningful leverage — doing more with the same time, taking on problems that would otherwise require a larger team. • Team leadership: You share what works. You automate prompting strategies that others can build on and help teammates earlier in their AI workflow adoption get up to speed. • Continuous learning: The tooling is changing fast. You stay current and bring recommendations to the team when something would meaningfully improve how we work. • Winter and Summer Weeklong Synchronized Company Shutdowns • Learning & Development programs. • Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment. • Free Life360 Platinum Membership for your preferred circle. • Free Tile Products Life360 Values Our company’s mission driven culture is guided by our shared values to create a trusted work environment where you can bring your authentic self to work and make a positive difference • Be a Good Person - We have a team of high integrity people you can trust. • Be Direct With Respect - We communicate directly, even when it’s hard. • Members Before Metrics - We focus on building an exceptional experience for families. • High Intensity, High Impact - We do whatever it takes to get the job done. Our Commitment to Diversity We believe that different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better results. Together, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees. It fuels our innovation and connects us closer to our customers and the communities we serve. We strive to create a workplace that reflects the communities we serve and where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic best selves to work. About The Team The Devices Cloud team owns the backend services that power Life360's fleet of connected hardware — Tile trackers, Jiobit wearables, Pet GPS trackers, and emerging device categories. We manage real-time device state, high-frequency telemetry ingest, and the cloud infrastructure that translates physical-world signals into reliable, family-facing experiences. Our work sits at the intersection of hardware, firmware, mobile, and platform — and runs at a scale where correctness and reliability aren't optional. We are an AI-Native team. AI isn't an add-on to how we work — it's how we work. We've redesigned our development workflows around AI, using it as a first-class collaborator at every stage: spec writing, code generation, test authoring, incident triage, and system design. We ship faster and go deeper because of it. We're looking for engineers who want to help define what AI-native backend development looks like for complex, hardware-connected systems. About the Job As a Backend Engineer II on the Devices Cloud team, you will build and improve the cloud services that power Life360's connected hardware — Tile trackers, Jiobit wearables, and emerging device categories. You own well-defined components and features across device state management, telemetry ingest, and the integration layer that connects physical hardware to family-facing experiences. You work with growing independence. You contribute to technical designs, own smaller designs yourself, break down tasks, and deliver reliable, well-tested code with occasional guidance from senior engineers. You collaborate with firmware, mobile, platform, and data teams, and you continue to deepen your technical skills. Your work helps power experiences for tens of millions of families daily. You are also growing as an AI-native engineer. You use AI as a first-class collaborator across coding, testing, and debugging, learn the practices that work on the team, and take full ownership of everything you ship. For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $148,000 - $216,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $171,500 to $201,000 CAD. Note: Please be aware that the job title for positions in Canada will be "Developer" in lieu of "Engineer." Note: We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity. What You’ll Do Build and maintain components and features of Devices Cloud services — telemetry ingest, state management, command/control, and data pipelines — with a focus on quality and reliability. Own well-defined features and smaller designs from implementation through production, breaking down tasks and delivering accurate estimates with occasional guidance. Use AI-native engineering practices in your daily work: AI assistants for coding, testing, refactoring, and debugging, while owning and reviewing everything you ship. Work with firmware, mobile, product, and platform teams to implement APIs and integrations across the hardware-software boundary. Experience building defined features, investigating and fixing bugs, and writing test code with growing independence. Working knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure (AWS: EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, etc.) and a desire to deepen your distributed-systems skills. Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants for real engineering tasks, with the judgment to review and own what you ship. Solid coding and problem-solving skills, and a habit of self-testing to deliver low-defect work. A clear communicator who shares progress, asks insightful questions, and explains their work to peers and their manager. Able to work semi-independently, unblock yourself, and ask for guidance when you need it. Experience with high-frequency ingest systems, time-series data, and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar). Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical field, or equivalent experience. Nice to Have Experience with IoT, telematics, embedded, or firmware-adjacent systems. Background in SRE practices, reliability engineering, and progressive delivery. Familiarity with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, DataDog). Experience contributing to industry conversations: open-source projects, conference talks, or technical publications. Knowledge of hardware/firmware communication protocols (MQTT, BLE, CoAP, etc.). AI-Native Expectations We use AI coding tools as a professional standard on this team. Here's what that means in practice: Daily use: You use AI coding assistants (we support Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot) for real, substantive tasks: analysis, coding, refactoring, testing, navigating codebases, and documentation. Not just research or autocomplete. Judgment and ownership: AI-generated code gets the same review you'd give any PR. You are accountable for everything you ship. Velocity: We expect engineers who use AI well to operate with meaningful leverage — doing more with the same time, taking on problems that would otherwise require a larger team. Team leadership: You share what works. You automate prompting strategies that others can build on and help teammates earlier in their AI workflow adoption get up to speed. iOS Engineer II (AI Native), Family AI Lab – San Francisco Bay Area

Life360AnywhereFull-time
View Job
Compensation$118K - 162K a year

Build prototypes and ship iOS-native features rapidly in a startup-like AI-focused environment. | Requires deep Swift and SwiftUI expertise, zero-to-one product experience, strong design sense, and AI-native workflow familiarity. Your Recruiter will provide clear guidance as you move through the interview process. Undisclosed use of AI not previously discussed with or approved by your Recruiter may impact your candidacy. About the Job As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Devices Cloud team, you will design and deliver the core cloud systems that power Life360's connected hardware — Tile trackers, Jiobit wearables, and emerging device categories. You own complete features and subsystems across real-time state management, high-frequency telemetry ingest, and the integration layer that connects physical hardware to family-facing experiences. You operate with a high degree of autonomy. You participate in technical design, break down complex work, deliver accurate estimates, and lead medium-sized projects end to end. You partner closely with firmware, mobile, platform, and data teams, mentor junior engineers, and help raise the team's engineering standards. Your work shapes systems serving tens of millions of families daily. You are also a strong practitioner of AI-native engineering. You use AI as a first-class collaborator across spec writing, coding, testing, and incident triage — and you share the practices that work so the whole team moves faster. For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $148,000 - $216,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $171,500 to $201,000 CAD. What You’ll Do Design, build, and operate Devices Cloud services — device connectivity, telemetry ingest, state management, command/control, and data pipelines — ensuring they are scalable, secure, and reliable at Life360's scale. Own complete features and subsystems from technical design through production, breaking down complex work, identifying dependencies, and delivering accurate estimates. Apply AI-native engineering practices day to day: use AI assistants for spec writing, code generation, test coverage, and incident response, and share the prompting strategies that work with the team. Partner with firmware, mobile, product, and platform teams to define APIs and integration patterns that translate cleanly across the hardware-software boundary. Lead medium-sized, cross-functional initiatives, coordinating the work of other engineers and keeping delivery on track. Identify risks, bottlenecks, and security gaps in your areas of ownership, and build in the automation and tests that prevent regressions. Mentor junior engineers: coach them on structuring changes for review, conduct thorough code reviews, and help grow their skills. Communicate progress, trade-offs, and technical concepts clearly to peers, partner teams, and your manager. Write clear, concise technical specifications, and contribute to team documentation and knowledge sharing. Participate in on-call rotation and contribute to high-severity incident response and post-mortems. What We’re Looking For 5+ years of experience building and operating backend or cloud infrastructure systems, ideally including some IoT, telematics, or hardware-adjacent work. About the Job Life360 is hiring an AI-Native Backend Focused Engineer — a senior engineer who doesn’t just use AI tools, but thinks natively in them. You’ll be central to how the Growth team builds its products, develops its services, and how we use AI for development in the future. You’ll design and build features and systems to help grow Life360’s payments infrastructure, product integrations, alerting and monitoring, everything. You’ll build and evolve our modern AI-Native engineering workflows — from how we write code, to how we run standups, to how we think about team velocity. You’ll evolve the standard others follow. For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $148,000 to $216,000 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is 171,500 to 201,000 CAD. Note: Please be aware that the job title for positions in Canada will be "Developer" in lieu of "Engineer." We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity. Velocity: We expect senior engineers who use AI well to operate with meaningful leverage — doing more with the same time, taking on problems that would otherwise require a larger team. Team leadership: You share what works. You automate prompting strategies that others can build on and help teammates earlier in their AI workflow adoption get up to speed. Continuous learning: The tooling is changing fast. You stay current and bring recommendations to the team when something would meaningfully improve how we work. What You’ll Do Design and build high-quality API and services for our subscribers and payment infrastructure— experiences that are safe, intuitive, and genuinely useful. Work with AI (Claude Code) as a first-class collaborator — your primary workflow involves orchestrating agents to create specs, generate code and tests, verify results, and perform reviews. Help define and codify AI-Native engineering practices for the Growth team, establishing playbooks the broader org can adopt. Build across the full stack as needed — shipping polished, performant, and reliable experiences to tens of millions of users. Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to turn complex user problems into elegant, scalable engineering solutions. Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and a culture of craft and continuous improvement. Participate in on-call rotation and incident response. Use agentic workflows to dramatically increase the delivery of strong outcomes — moving faster without sacrificing quality. Mentor team members and contribute to team processes, technical standards, and help evolve the team's AI-native engineering practices. Support performance, reliability, and accessibility across the features you own. What We’re Looking For Technical foundation: 6+ years of backend software engineering experience Strong proficiency with Java and Spring Boot (this is our primary stack) Experience with Apache Kafka or similar distributed streaming platforms Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts: consistency, fault tolerance, replication, and data durability Comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and containerized deployments Heavy user of agentic workflows, understands research-plan-implement cycle but doesn’t outsource thinking to agents What matters most to us: Growth mindset - You structure problems precisely, you learn quickly, you can show interest outside “your lane”, and you are always happy to try something new Collaborative approach - You communicate clearly, work well across teams, and value diverse perspectives Ownership mentality - You take responsibility for your work from design through production and beyond AI-native working style - You use AI tooling (Claude Code or equivalent) as a genuine development partner: delegating discrete tasks, reviewing outputs critically, and running parallel workstreams rather than hand-holding one agent at a time Thoughtful communication - You can explain technical tradeoffs and articulate ideas effectively We believe culture fit and problem-solving ability matter more than checking every technical box. We're happy to help you grow into areas where you have less experience. Nice-to-Have Background in stream processing frameworks (Kafka Streams, Flink) Experience with schema registries and schema evolution strategies Knowledge of Confluent Platform or Confluent Cloud Understanding of CI/CD patterns, GitHub Actions, and artifact management (Maven, Nexus) Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog) Previous work on ecosystems or integration tooling Our Benefits Competitive pay and benefits. Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for US employees). We offer supplemental plans for medical and dental for Canadian employees. 401(k) plan with company matching program in the US and RRSP with DPSP plan for Canadian employees. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental wellness. Flexible PTO and 12 company wide days off throughout the year. Learning & Development programs. Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment. Free Life360 Platinum Membership for your preferred circle. Life360 Values Our company’s mission-driven culture is guided by our shared values to create a trusted work environment where you can bring your authentic self to work and make a positive difference. Be a Good Person — We have a team of high-integrity people you can trust. Be Direct With Respect — We communicate directly, even when it’s hard. Members Before Metrics — We focus on building an exceptional experience for families. High Intensity, High Impact — We do whatever it takes to get the job done. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Life360. Even if you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, you should still seriously consider applying! #LI-Remote

Compensation$85K - 130K a year

Design and build AI-native platform-level test infrastructure and data pipelines for mobile platforms to automate quality signals. | Strong mobile engineering background and experience with AI agent orchestration frameworks required. | About Life360 Life360’s mission is to keep people close to the ones they love. Our category-leading mobile app, Tile tracking devices, and Pet GPS tracker empower members to protect the people, pets, and things they care about most with a range of services, including location sharing, safe driver reports, and crash detection with emergency dispatch. About The Team Platform Foundations is part of Life360's Developer Experience Group (DevX) — the AI platform layer powering how engineers build, test, and ship at Life360. We own the foundational infrastructure that makes the entire development lifecycle faster, safer, and more intelligent. We're a small team with outsized impact, building the systems other engineers depend on every day — and we're doing it with an AI-native mindset from the ground up. We're building the systems, platforms, and intelligence that power the entire software delivery lifecycle. Our work spans continuous testing infrastructure, self-healing test systems, AI-native developer tooling, agentic quality automation, and the observability pipelines that keep Life360's engineering engine running at scale. We partner closely with Mobile, Backend, and Release Engineering teams — and our output directly shapes the speed, confidence, and quality with which Life360 ships to millions of families around the world. We move fast, think in systems, and care deeply about craft. You'll have high autonomy, real ownership, and the opportunity to define what AI-native engineering infrastructure looks like — not just at Life360, but as a model for the industry. About the Job This role is not about writing software. It is about producing software — at a level of quality, speed, and scope that would previously have required a much larger team. Our group is the AI platform layer that powers how engineers build, test, and ship across Life360's mobile and cloud products. Platform Foundations — the team you'd be joining — owns the foundational infrastructure that makes the entire development lifecycle faster, safer, and more intelligent. We're looking for a Mobile Engineer who has strong iOS and/or Android engineering roots, but whose center of gravity has shifted: you think in systems, you direct AI to produce outcomes, and you're energized by the idea of rebuilding how mobile software gets made, tested, and validated — from the ground up. This role sits at the intersection of mobile engineering, platform infrastructure, and applied AI. You'll help us move Life360 toward a fully AI-native product development lifecycle (PDLC) — one where continuous testing, self-healing systems, and agentic workflows are the default, not the exception. Team leadership: You share what works. You automate prompting strategies that others can build on and help teammates earlier in their AI workflow adoption get up to speed. Continuous learning: The tooling is changing fast. You stay current and bring recommendations to the team when something would meaningfully improve how we work. What You’ll Do Design and build platform-level test infrastructure for iOS and Android that runs continuously, scales automatically, and surfaces signals without human intervention. Apply AI-driven failure classification to reduce noise, prioritize signal, and cut time-to-fix on test failures across mobile suites. Partner with the AI Native platform team to ship net-new skills that replace categories of manual engineering work. Build and maintain in-app instrumentation for mobile performance, quality signal, and test execution telemetry. Design data pipelines that feed quality signals into dashboards, alert systems, and AI analysis layers, providing the org with real-time visibility into test health and app quality. Own the infrastructure used to baseline, monitor, and debug mobile API behavior in CI. Partner with Mobile, Backend, and Release Engineering teams to embed AI-native quality practices throughout the development lifecycle — from intent to production. Contribute to the design and rollout of agentic quality automation: systems that act on quality signals rather than just report them. Raise the pod’s AI-native capability — documenting what works, improving shared workflows, and helping others develop the judgment to direct AI effectively What We’re Looking For A track record of delivering complex, production-grade software outcomes. Genuine fluency directing AI agents: you decompose, delegate, and validate at a level that produces better output than most engineers produce writing manually Comfort working across the stack — mobile instrumentation, backend pipelines, CI/CD systems, and developer tooling — without needing to stay in one lane or waiting for someone else to own a layer. AI closes the skill gaps; you provide the judgment The ability to make good decisions quickly under ambiguity, and to distinguish reversible decisions (ship it) from irreversible ones (slow down) Judgment on AI-generated artifacts — you know what good looks like, catch what is locally correct but globally brittle, and hold a consistent quality bar regardless of how code was produced The ability to frame problems with precision — your prompts, specs, and plans are clear enough that AI can act on them without constant correction Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol), LLM tool use, or agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, AWS Bedrock Agents, etc.). Clear, direct communication with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders across the org Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Our Benefits Competitive pay and benefits. Design and operate preventative security controls across endpoint, SaaS, identity, and zero trust layers to reduce attack surface. | 5+ years security engineering experience with expertise in endpoint security, AWS, zero trust, and AI-driven automation. | About Life360 Life360’s mission is to keep people close to the ones they love. Life360 is a Remote-First company, which means a remote work environment will be the primary experience for all employees. All positions, unless otherwise specified, can be performed remotely (within the US) regardless of any specified location above. About The Team The Information Security and Technology team is responsible for keeping Life360 safe — our systems, our employees, and the tens of millions of families who trust us with their location data. That obligation is the starting point. How we meet it is what makes this team different. We are builders. Security controls that don't get used aren't controls. Compliance programs that create friction without reducing risk aren't programs. We build things that work in production, earn adoption from engineering teams, and get better over time — and we use AI to do it at a scale a traditional team couldn't. We're also at an inflection point. Life360 is deploying agentic systems into how we build and operate, and the security and governance implications of that are still being worked out — by us, and by the industry. The threat surface is expanding. The compliance frameworks are catching up. The people on this team aren't waiting for either. About the Job As a Senior Enterprise Security Engineer, you'll be a technical owner of the controls that protect every employee, contractor, and device interacting with Life360 systems — endpoint, SaaS, identity, and zero trust. This is a builder role: you design, deploy, and operate the preventative controls that reduce the attack surface before anything reaches Detection & Response. You'll partner closely with IT Engineering, GRC, and the broader security team. With IT, you'll co-own fleet management, device hardening, and the day-to-day health of the endpoint estate. With GRC, you'll engineer controls and evidence pipelines that satisfy SOC 2, ISO 27001, and privacy requirements. With D&R, you'll own the telemetry side of the partnership — making sure corporate systems (Kandji, Intune, Slack, Box, Google Workspace, Okta) emit what they need for detection, without owning the detection logic or incident response yourself. You'll also own Life360's security awareness program end-to-end, and you'll use AI as a force multiplier across all of it — directing agent-assisted workflows for endpoint, SaaS, and awareness work, with appropriate guardrails on anything touching sensitive data or production. We're at an inflection point. Life360 is deploying agentic systems into how we build and operate, and the security and governance implications are still being worked out — by us, and by the industry. We're not waiting. We use AI tools as a professional standard on this team. Here's what that means in practice. Ai-Native Daily use: You use AI tools for real, substantive work — analysis, drafting, automation, code, investigations, evidence gathering. Judgment and ownership: AI-generated work gets the same scrutiny you'd give any human-produced artifact. You're accountable for everything you ship. Domain-specific judgment: You know where AI is the wrong tool. Sensitive data handling, attacker-controlled inputs, agents with production access, and privileged identity changes all need careful guardrails — and you can articulate where AI helps, where it hurts, and where it needs a human in the loop. Leverage: When AI is working well, you take on problems that would otherwise require a larger team. We hire people who use that leverage to ship better outcomes, not just faster ones. Continuous learning: The tooling moves fast. You stay current, share what works with the team, and speak up when something would meaningfully change how we operate. The US-based salary range for this position is $152,000 to $224,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity. What You’ll Do Develop systems and tools that improve the security posture of Life360's DLP, device hardening, SaaS, and zero trust layers Execute security strategy and policy for Life360-built services and SaaS applications Review and provide architectural guidance on infrastructure systems, fleet management, and automation Own EDR agent deployment health and coverage across the endpoint fleet, ensuring CrowdStrike Falcon agents are installed, current, and correctly configured on every managed device; identify and close coverage gaps in partnership with IT and D&R Partner with D&R on log source enablement, ensuring corporate systems (Kandji, Intune, Slack, Box, Google Workspace) emit the telemetry D&R needs for detection and investigation, without owning the detection logic itself Build and operate agent-assisted workflows that take action across endpoint, SaaS, and awareness domains — directing AI more than doing the work by hand, with appropriate guardrails on anything that touches sensitive data or production systems Automate the boring parts using Python, Tray.io, Lambda, and AI agents to eliminate manual toil across endpoint, SaaS, and corporate security workflows Engineer controls that satisfy SOC 2 and privacy requirements across device and SaaS layers, partnering with GRC on evidence collection and audit readiness Own the security awareness program end-to-end, including developing and delivering training, running phishing simulations, tracking and reporting metrics, and continuously improving the program to drive measurable behavior change What We’re Looking For 5+ years in security engineering with deep hands-on ownership of endpoint security (Kandji/Intune/Jamf/CrowdStrike), SaaS security, or DLP Hands-on AWS security experience, including IAM policies, CloudTrail. You can investigate cloud activity end-to-end and design guardrails that actually hold Advanced knowledge of operating systems with core competency in two or more of: device hardening (macOS, Windows), SaaS security, DLP, or assurance and validation Experience securing corporate email infrastructure, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and anti-phishing controls in Google Workspace or equivalent Experience designing and operating zero trust access controls, including device trust signals, conditional access, and contextual access policies Proven track record driving the implementation of preventative controls Experience managing EDR fleet health at scale, including agent deployment, version currency, policy compliance, and coverage gap remediation (CrowdStrike Falcon preferred) Fluent AI user. You use Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent as a daily driver; you know when to trust an LLM output and when not to; you've shipped automations or agents that actually work in production Comfortable building with APIs and MCP, not just configuring GUIs Clear, direct communicator who pushes back on risk and drives alignment with IT, Engineering, and leadership Strong collaborator who prioritizes ruthlessly and operates independently under minimal supervision Bias for engineering over ticketing; zero-trust mindset grounded in pragmatism Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Nice to Have OSCP, GIAC or equivalent advanced certs Experience building agent-assisted security workflows with MCP servers Experience with DLP tooling Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF) Our Benefits Competitive pay and benefits Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for employees) 401(k) plan with company matching program Mental Wellness Program & Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental well-being Flexible PTO, 13 company-wide days off throughout the year Winter and Summer Weeklong Synchronized Company Shutdowns Learning & Development programs Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment Free Life360 Platinum Membership for your preferred circle Free Tile Products Life360 Values Our company’s mission-driven culture is guided by our shared values to create a trusted work environment where you can bring your authentic self to work and make a positive difference Be a Good Person - We have a team of high integrity people you can trust. Your Recruiter will provide clear guidance as you move through the interview process. Undisclosed use of AI not previously discussed with or approved by your Recruiter may impact your candidacy. About The Team The International team at Life360 is building the next frontier of meaningful connection — bringing Life360's peace-of-mind platform to families everywhere, regardless of where in the world they live. Our mission is to make the product feel native to every market we enter: localized experiences, regionally relevant features, and the kind of trust that only comes from truly understanding how families in different cultures stay safe, connected, and close. We're expanding Life360's reach beyond its home market so that every family — whether in São Paulo, Berlin, or beyond — has access to the tools that help them navigate the beautiful, chaotic reality of everyday life together. About the Role Life360 is hiring an AI-Native Engineer — a Staff engineer who doesn’t just use AI tools, but thinks natively in them. You’ll be central to how the International team builds products, where AI has reshaped how the entire team designs, builds, and ships. You’ll design and build services that serve some of our most important and fastest-growing member segments: our international members in markets like Brazil, UK, the Philippines and beyond. You’ll build and evolve our modern AI-Native engineering workflows — from how we write code, to how we run standups, to how we think about team velocity. You’ll evolve the standard others follow. Back-end experience is required. Our back-end stack includes Spring Boot microservices, Java, Kafka, Kafka Streams, and a modern cloud-native platform on AWS. For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $190,000 to $280,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is 237,500 to 280,500 CAD. What You’ll Do Design and build high-quality API and services for the international adaptation of Life360 — services that are life saving, and genuinely useful. Work with AI (Claude Code) as a first-class collaborator — your primary workflow involves orchestrating agents to create specs, generate code and tests, verify results, and perform reviews. Help define and codify AI-Native engineering practices for the International team, establishing playbooks the broader org can adopt. Hold a high bar for quality end-to-end: you define what "done" means, instrument your work for observability, and treat post-launch behavior as part of the job — not someone else's problem. Mentor team members and contribute to team processes, technical standards, and help evolve the team's AI-native engineering practices. Support performance, reliability, and accessibility across the features you own. What We’re Looking For 8+ years of experience building and operating high-quality, consumer-scale services. 1+ years of hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs. Strong proficiency in cloud development using modern Java, Kubernetes, AWS and streaming technologies. Deep experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context window management, and MCP/function calling. A track record of using AI tooling to multiply your own output — not just as autocomplete, but as a genuine development partner. Strong communication and collaboration skills — you work well with product, design, and platform engineers. A genuine excitement for defining what it means to be AI-Native — you’re not waiting for the playbook, you want to write it. Empathy for our international members - including those with lower end mobile devices and inconsistent network connectivity.
