The Work The Quality Assurance (QA) team is responsible for ensuring that all software products meet defined standards for functionality, reliability, and user experience before release. QA team members are embedded in agile product teams and handle end-to-end quality activities including test planning, execution, defect reporting, and regression validation. They collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and release managers to define scope, identify risks, and validate features across web, mobile, and service platforms. The Lead QA Analyst safeguards quality within a single assigned project by working with the team to verify that QA procedures are followed and that planned testing is completed with appropriate coverage and traceability to requirements. The Lead facilitates communication among QA, product, engineering, DevOps, and release management, surfacing risks early, reporting status clearly, and escalating blockers as needed. They coordinate test planning activities, review and strengthen manual and automated test cases for complex scenarios, mentor QA team members, drive process and tooling improvements, and step in for hands-on validation on high-risk or time-sensitive work. This is done through working in these areas of focus: Key Performance Objective #1 (40%) – Manage Daily Project Test Efforts; Review & Escalation • Coordinate the project’s test effort: review test cases/results/defects, ensure regression readiness, and drive triage. • Escalate quality concerns and release risks early with mitigation plans and cadence reporting to stakeholders. • Represent QA in project sprint ceremonies, planning, and go/no-go; ensure consistent, criteria-based QA sign-off. • Ensure regression readiness and environment/data preparedness. • Some Responsibility - Test Execution • Perform exploratory and risk-based testing in critical areas. • Step in for hands-on validation of high-risk features. • Execute test cases and record results when needed. Key Performance Objective #2 (25%) – Project Test Planning, Strategy & Risk Management • Define initiative/feature-level test strategies (functional, integration, end-to-end, non-functional) aligned to business goals and technical complexity. • Own project test planning: scope, estimation, environments, data, dependencies, and full traceability to requirements. • Lead risk assessments; prioritize coverage by impact/likelihood; set clear entry/exit criteria and a visible risk register. • Align test plans with project engineering, product, and release timelines; proactively surface blockers with mitigations. Key Performance Objective #3 (20%) – Process Improvement, Tooling & Automation Strategy • Lead implementation of process improvements, testing standards, and documentation practices within the project. • Identify project inefficiencies (environments, data, flaky tests, bottlenecks) and introduce scalable fixes. • Champion tools/frameworks that improve efficiency and automation stability; guide what to automate for ROI and reliability. • Some Responsibility - Test Case Creation • Contribute advanced manual and automated test cases for complex scenarios. • Review and guide test design; ensure assets are organized and traceable. Key Performance Objective #4 (15%) – Mentorship, Coaching & Quality Advocacy • Coach and mentor QA Analysts and Senior QA Analysts; provide structured feedback, shadowing, and learning sessions. • Lead training moments, publish project playbooks, and contribute to the team’s capability roadmap. • Advocate for the customer by grounding prioritization and acceptance decisions in real user workflows and outcomes. • Promote quality throughout the software development lifecycle by integrating checks into design, development, testing, and release. Requirements (What You’ve Done & How You Operate) • 7+ years in software QA with demonstrated leadership in agile environments and ownership of project-level test planning. • Proven proactive ownership and initiative by anticipating risks, unblocking dependencies, and driving improvements without prompting. • Consistent delivery on commitments and results by keeping their word, meeting agreed dates, and escalating early when at risk. • Proven ability to design and drive complex test strategies (functional, integration, end-to-end, non-functional) and ensure complete traceability. • Excellent communication translating quality risks and status for technical and non-technical project stakeholders; represent QA in planning/reviews with clarity. • High level of professional confidence in interacting with various teams within Lexipol: solutions management, engineering, & DevOps. • Experience leading implementation of process improvements, and upleveling testing standards, documentation practices, & Quality Advocacy. • Strong background in automation strategy with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright (able to design, review, and stabilize suites). • Deep understanding of SDLC, risk-based testing, and test management (TestRail, TestLink, or equivalent); adept at raising risks early and communicating clear mitigation plans. • Experience coordinating cross-platform testing (web, mobile, services) and leading defect triage/RCAs that produce systemic improvements. • Proficiency with Jira, TestRail, Confluence (or similar) and evidence-driven reporting platforms. • Track record of mentoring peers and uplifting team practices (e.g., guidance on what to automate, reviews that improve test design). Preferred Experience • API/back-end testing using Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or code-based API tests. • Performance/load testing (e.g., JMeter, Artillery) • SQL or other query languages for data validation and test design. • Comfort with CI pipelines, test data strategy, and environment configuration. • Domain experience in regulated industries (e.g., government, healthcare, finance). • Experience with a cloud-based platform: AWS is preferred. Target Outcomes / Target Results (Project) • <3% critical defect escape rate per release (measured within 14 days post-release). • ≥95% coverage of business-critical scenarios (traceable in TestRail). • Sprint QA sign-off within 24 hours of dev completion for committed scope. • 3+ improvement initiatives per quarter within the project (e.g., flake rate, cycle time, coverage). • Mentorship impact: structured feedback/coaching for 3+ project peers per quarter. • Automation stability: flaky test rate <2%; improving failing-to-true-defect ratio quarter over quarter.
