About the Mobile Mechanic/Technician Role As a Mobile Mechanic/Technician, you’ll be the expert our customers rely on to keep their fleets on the road. This field-based role is perfect for skilled technicians who enjoy independence and variety in their work. You’ll be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light and medium duty vehicles, including emergency roadside service when needed. Where You’ll Make an Impact • Perform onsite preventative maintenance, DOT inspections and follow up repairs to light and medium duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. • Handle emergency road service calls with confidence and urgency. • Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled service or maintenance. • Diagnose and repair electrical, brake, cooling, and air systems - everything that keeps a fleet running strong. • Use advanced diagnostic tools, including handheld computers and precision instruments, to identify and fix issues fast. • Put your expertise to work using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to get the job done right. • Road test vehicles to ensure every repair meets top-quality standards. • Stay productive and efficient, meeting or beating industry-standard repair times. • Work with trusted vendors to source parts and keep operations moving. • Take ownership of a company-issued service truck, perform maintenance and pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensuring safety compliance. • Jump in wherever needed – we're a team that supports each other. What the Fleet Program Manager, Core role looks like: Oversee day-to-day performance of Core division mobile technicians, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, SOPs, and service quality standards. Act as the primary field manager for mobile maintenance activities, providing real-time support, coaching, and escalation resolution. Manage technician schedules, site assignments, and travel planning to ensure SLA compliance. Support hiring and workforce planning to meet technician capacity targets by region. Lead onboarding, training, and continuous development of field techs in collaboration with operations and HR teams. Track technician KPIs (ETA updates, parts status, completion reports) and maintain dashboards for SLA monitoring. Coordinate with site contacts and Kooner dispatch teams to align repair needs, parts procurement, and vehicle access. Communicate work order status updates, tech ETAs, and high-cost estimates to customers and internal teams. Support parts procurement processes and align with regional vendors to reduce downtime. Identify service expansion opportunities based on station feedback and recurring repair trends. Analyze service issues related to fleet maintenance and perform root cause analysis, recommend remediation methodologies and escalate as needed to address issues. Address client concerns promptly, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention. Work cross-functionally with internal teams (sales, marketing, operations) to ensure seamless service delivery. Track key account metrics, prepare reports, and provide insights to improve client engagement and satisfaction. Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing clients, acting as their main point of contact. Perform other duties as assigned. What our ideal candidate looks like: 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, field operations, or mobile service management. Prior experience leading technicians or field teams in a distributed or mobile environment. Demonstrated ability to build and continuously motivate highly effective teams. Experienced with creating standardized operating procedures and streamlining processes. Excels at managing and influencing the operational and administrative processes inherent in a high growth environment. Specialized understanding of maintenance procedures and general knowledge of industry regulations (e.g. EPA, DOT, OSHA) to ensure compliance. High degree of autonomy, yet team oriented with ability to work cross-functionally within the Kooner FMS organization. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and customer-facing partners. Strong analytical skills with expertise in researching, interpreting, data management, and report generation. Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage across multiple sites. Proficient in Excel and dispatch/work order platforms (Towbook, Fleetio, etc.). Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Ability to travel regionally as needed (up to 30% of the time).
