This Director will focus on utilizing data science and analytic models and methodologies to derive insights from customer service and digital data and lead the development of regulatory positions and evidence to advance CX and Digital initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Lead an organization of data scientists and data analysts in the development of robust models to evaluate and project trends and performance for key KPIs and metrics in customer service. Lead the evaluation and development of data models and analytical frameworks to derive insights from customer service data to drive improvement strategies. Primary lead in the development of regulatory testimony and evidence based on data science models and analytics for the advancement of CX and Digital initiatives and strategic positions. Develop executive material through analytical insights to drive overall CS, CX, and Digital strategy, as well as interface with CS and executive leadership to implement new and novel approaches to business processes based on data science models. Lead the creation and management of more advanced modeling, reporting, and data processes for the day-to-day operation of CS. Facilitation of data product and platform improvements through acquisition, ingestion, and transformation of big datasets in collaboration with the Data Engineering team. Collaborate closely with leaders in Customer Service, Elec/Gas Operations, Digital Platforms, Regulatory, and IT to deliver cross-functional infrastructure improvements. Develop SMEs for critical datasets and their usage. Evaluate and lead AI pilots and projects (LLM, NLP, Machine Learning) for the achievement of CX and Digital goals. Mentor and develop a high-performing team of data science and analytic professionals and management. Support regulatory filings, audits, and rate case strategies by delivering accurate, data-supported analysis and narratives. Travel approximately 20% to utility locations, partner meetings, and executive forums across Avangrid’s service territories. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, Operations Management, or a related field is required. Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science, data analytics, or mathematical modeling. Experience performing data science or mathematical modeling research as part of graduate work (MS and PhD) can count towards experience minimum. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a regulated utility preferred. Technical & Functional Skills: Demonstrated experience in data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAS, or similar tools). Technical experience with specific data intelligence tools including relational databases (SQL), automated pipelines and processes (Python), integrated dashboards and applications (Streamlit). Advanced technical expertise with data science modeling techniques and approaches. Understanding of customer journey mapping, operational KPIs, and performance frameworks (e.g., Balanced Scorecard). Strong capability to build and manage cross-functional teams, manage large-scale change, and influence at all levels of the organization. Knowledge of regulatory and operational environments in energy/utilities and experience supporting rate case submissions and leading hearing discussions. Other Requirements: Strong communication, executive presence, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, matrixed organization. Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time across Avangrid locations.
