Design, develop, and maintain DevOps pipelines, manage software configuration, and support deployment in a secure, distributed environment. | Requires 8-12 years of experience, security clearance, experience with Git, UNIX, and DevOps tools, and ability to work in a DoD environment. | The Senior DevOps Software Engineer will assist in the design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting and incident/problem management for the Software Defined Networking (SDN) components. Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, plus 8-12 years of prior relevant experience • Strong working knowledge of Git and experience with development workflows in Bitbucket or an equivalent tool. • Strong experience working on a UNIX command line platform. • Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership. • Knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of Software Engineering. • DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain interim Secret clearance prior to start date • Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 60 days of start date Responsibilities: • Develop automated CI/CD build/deployment pipelines using Cloudbees/Jenkins, Artifactory, OpenShift/Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible and Bitbucket. • Lead software configuration management (SCM) release planning and version control, providing SCM support throughout a software product's life cycle (initial software development through promotion to Test, QA and Production Environments). • Plan and manage parallel software development and release cycles as well as provide SCM for a large distributed development network with remote partners, ensuring the consistency and reliability of software builds. • Provide technical direction, leadership, guidance and training on CM processes to a team of software engineers, ensuring congruence of the various infrastructure, software, configurations and interfaces maintained under configuration control • Develop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, Junit and/or other applicable tools. • Design, develop, document, test and deploy software written in Python, JavaScript, Java and SQL. • Assist with the deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, updates/upgrades of Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments. • Work with an Agile team, attend daily scrums and demonstrate working software while collaborating with a geographically distributed (remote) team, communicating and collaborating frequently with teammates to ensure successful completion of project objectives. • Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure and system issues. • Proactively and independently identify, report, monitor, and mitigate technical risks. Technical Knowledge • Experience designing, building and deploying DevOps pipelines with Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory and Ansible (or equivalent tools). • Experience designing and implementing application deployment pipelines and developing software in a containerized environment with Kubernetes and Docker (OpenShift experience is a plus). • Full software lifecycle automation experience (design, development, test, deployment), including deployment to a production environment. • Experience designing and building automated software testing pipelines using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, Junit and/or other applicable tools. • Previous SCM experience, including release planning, managing software baselines, merging branches, and producing software builds • Experience designing, developing and deploying software in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus). • Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including experience building and deploying software applications that meet DoD security standards and updating applications and code to meet security scans and security implementation guidelines (e.g. STIGs). • Experience with Atlassian tools, including Bitbucket integrations with JIRA and Confluence. • Experience integrating code review systems into the SCM process. • Experience with static code analysis, particularly security scans. • Experience working remotely with a geographically dispersed team. • Experience working as part of an Agile software development team. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA’s Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA’s internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations. The Multi-Cloud Engineer/Architect SME will lead the design and deployment of secure, scalable, and compliant cloud environments spanning Microsoft Azure, AWS, and hybrid on-premises systems.. This role will be responsible for tech requirement definition, feasibility studies, pilot projects and implementations plans, as well as diagnosing and troubleshooting outages, monitoring networks, infrastructure and systems, and proving proactive mitigation strategies. This role is part of a highly skilled technical team responsible for designing and deploying secure, scalable, and compliant hybrid- and multi-cloud architectures that enable mission success across complex defense environments. Primary Responsibilities: • Architect, design, and implement multi-cloud (Azure, AWS, hybrid) solutions that meet DoD missionobjectivesand cybersecurity requirements. • Lead the configuration, integration, and optimization of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and AWS Identity Center (formerly AWS SSO) for federated identity and centralized access control. • Develop and enforce IAM governance, Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles, and role-based access controls (RBAC) across cloud and on-premises systems. • Design and implement cross-cloud identity federation and SSO solutions using SAML 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM protocols. • Integrate Azure Policy, AWS Service Control Policies (SCPs), and Terraform/Bicep automation for compliance enforcement and least-privilege security. • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to align architectures with DISA STIGs, DoD Cloud Computing SRG (IL4/IL5), NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP High baselines. • Provide architectural leadership for hybrid cloud connectivity, data protection, and cross-domain security. • Guide cloud adoption and migration strategies that enhance operational agility whilemaintainingsecurity posture. • Create andmaintainarchitectural documentation, diagrams, andcompliancetraceability artifacts. Required Qualifications: • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI Eligibility. • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification. • BS degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or aMastersdegree with 10+ years of prior relevant experience,additionalyears of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • 7+ years of experience designing and implementing secure Azure-based solutions in enterprise or government environments. • Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. • Provenexpertisewith IAM, federated identity, and multi-cloud access management. • Demonstrated experience integrating Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), AWS Identity Center, and on-premises Active Directory. • Strong understanding of federated identity, SAML/OIDC protocols, and cross-cloud authentication mechanisms. • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Bicep. • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks including DISA STIGs, CMMC, and Zero Trust Architecture guidance. • Strong communicationskills and ability to collaborate effectively with government stakeholders, security teams, and engineering personnel. • Familiarity with Azure Government (DoD), FedRAMP, and DISA STIG compliance frameworks. • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Bicep, Azure CLI, and CI/CD automation. • Must be able to work as part of a team to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.This includes drafting SOPs, architectural plans and drawings, and technical documentation as well as communication with senior program and customer leadership.
