A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Controller to join its executive finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this leader will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for a complex, multi-entity organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and hands-on finance leader who enjoys improving processes, developing teams, and partnering with executive leadership to support organizational growth. \n Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, monthly close, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. Oversee annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, long-range financial planning, and variance analysis. Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes. Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and oversee annual financial statement audits, Single Audit activities, and tax filings. Ensure compliance with federal, state, grant, and regulatory requirements. Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and financial systems optimization. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, active CPA. 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred. Prior Controller or Assistant Controller leadership experience within a complex organization. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and technical accounting. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with grant-funded organizations and Single Audits. Experience leading and developing accounting teams. Advanced Excel skills and experience working with enterprise ERP systems. Preferred Experience Experience within a large nonprofit, healthcare, education, research, government-funded, or similarly complex organization. Experience with Oracle, Workday, or comparable ERP platforms. \n $200,000 - $250,000 a year \n #SS #LI-MC1

We are seeking a mission-driven Controller to oversee the financial & accounting operations of a highly-respected nonprofit organization in Los Angeles. The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the nonprofit organization, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, internal controls, and audit coordination. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records while supporting the organization’s mission through sound financial management and strategic guidance. The Controller manages day-to-day accounting functions and helps ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, grant requirements, and applicable laws and regulations. \n Responsibilities Financial Management & Accounting Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management. Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain the integrity of the organization’s financial records and accounting systems. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards. Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and investment activity. Budgeting & Financial Planning Assist with the development and management of the annual operating budget. Provide budget-to-actual variance analysis and financial forecasting. Support leadership with financial analysis and recommendations. Collaborate with department leaders to monitor program and grant budgets. Grants & Compliance Track and report restricted and unrestricted funding. Ensure compliance with grant agreements, donor restrictions, and funding requirements. Prepare financial reports for funders, agencies, and board committees as needed. Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Audit & Internal Controls Coordinate annual financial audits and tax filings, including Form 990 preparation support. Develop and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Leadership & Administration Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff, as applicable. Serve as a financial resource to leadership and program managers. Participate in strategic planning and organizational initiatives. Support board and finance committee reporting requirements.
