(FTI) is seeking an AI/ML Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy secure, scalable software and data systems that support mission operations, analytics, and simulation environments. This role is for a hands-on engineer and someone who loves writing code, building systems end-to-end, and solving real-world technical challenges in secure, distributed environments. FTI delivers mission-focused solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD/DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) through advanced engineering, digital transformation, and program execution expertise. We help our customers solve complex challenges by integrating people, process, and technology. Responsibilities Software Design & Development • Design and implement APIs, data pipelines, and simulation runtime logic that connect and enable mission applications. • Develop software using modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or TypeScript/Angular. • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following secure coding and software engineering best practices. • Build and integrate modular microservices to improve scalability, maintainability, and interoperability. Cloud & Containerized Environments • Build and deploy containerized, cloud-native services using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent). • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and automation scripts to accelerate deployment and configuration management. • Contribute to secure deployments across hybrid or disconnected environments (IL4-IL6, AWS GovCloud, or on-prem). Systems Integration & Distributed Computing • Develop distributed systems and data integration frameworks using message buses such as Kafka or Redis. • Engineer data flow between analytic, AI, and simulation components to support real-time mission use cases. • Collaborate with system engineers and architects to ensure interoperability across software ecosystems. Data & Analytics Integration • Build and manage databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, graph DBs) and model complex data relationships. • Develop data services that feed analytics pipelines or integrate AI/ML outputs into runtime systems. • Work with serialization and exchange formats such as JSON, Protobuf, GeoJSON, or KML. Security, Testing & Sustainment • Write, test, and deploy software within secure or classified environments. • Automate testing and monitoring to ensure performance, reliability, and repeatable deployments. • Support the transition of prototypes to operational systems, focusing on maintainability and observability. Education/Qualifications Minimum Requirements: • 6-10+ years of professional software engineering experience. • 3+ years of professional experience with DevSecOps, Zero-Trust, or ATO/RMF processes in Department of Defense (DoD/DoW) environments. • Strong full-stack or systems engineering background. • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, C++, or TypeScript/Angular. • Experience building containerized, cloud-native solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. • Complete understanding of distributed systems and message buses (Kafka, Redis, etc.). • Experience developing or integrating analytics and AI models into production systems. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience deploying code in IL4-IL6 or edge/disconnected environments. • Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or graph databases. • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK). • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. • Active Secret clearance preferred; ability to obtain one is required. Provide on-site support for student housing operations including documentation, reporting, and student accountability. | High school diploma or GED, U.S. citizenship, proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, and strong organizational skills required. | Overview FTI is seeking a Barracks Administrative Support Specialist to provide on-site administrative support to Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) in Great Lakes, Illinois. Salary range for this role is $50k - 60k with the ability to work an assigned shift schedule 4:30AM-1:30PM. Estimated start date for this role is May 2026. This position provides administrative and accountability support for student housing operations across designated barracks facilities. The role supports active-duty and civilian staff in maintaining student accountability, processing housing documentation, and coordinating administrative actions related to student check-in, check-out, and status tracking. This position functions in an administrative support capacity and does not exercise command, disciplinary, or adjudication authority. Responsibilities Student Accountability & Reporting Support Prepare daily accountability documentation including student status validation, curriculum add-ons, and updates to medical and dental tracking lists. Verify student data using approved command systems and generate required rosters and accountability reports. Submit required daily Room and Rack reports and student accountability reports within established timelines. Monitor official email accounts for updates related to student status, academic changes, medical/dental appointments, and administrative notifications. Housing Administration Support Process student check-ins and check-outs, including key issuance and inventory documentation. Record housing transactions in Enterprise Military Housing (EMH) and maintain associated documentation files. File and maintain room inspection documentation in student records. Support weekly barracks inspection documentation and post inspection results as directed. Administrative Documentation Support Prepare administrative packages in support of Government-led disciplinary or administrative processes, including assembling required supporting documentation under Government direction. Record required entries into EMH and route documentation to designated Government leadership as directed. Update student tracking lists including medical, dental, academic remediation, reclassification, and legal status lists as required. Records & Systems Support Maintain accurate student records and accountability logs. Utilize Office 365 tools (Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive) and EMH system to support documentation and reporting requirements. Review leave packages and related documentation for completeness prior to routing. Additional Duties Perform additional administrative tasks supporting barracks operations within the scope of the contract and under Government direction. Other Information: May require frequent travel between assigned buildings; candidate must provide their own transportation (no base transportation available). May require walking between buildings (potentially 1–2 miles) and working in inclement weather. May require stair use in multi-floor buildings without passenger elevators. Education/Qualifications Required Qualifications Must be located within a commutable distance to report full-time onsite in Great Lakes, IL. High School degree or GED required (minimum) Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain an active Secret DoD Security Clearance (at minimum). Secret clearance preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive). Familiarity with data entry and administrative recordkeeping processes. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Ability to work assigned shift schedule 4:30AM-1:30PM Occasional travel may be required (up to 25%). Preferred Qualifications Prior military administrative or housing support experience.
