About the Role The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our cold storage facilities, ensuring efficient and effective processes, maintaining high standards of safety and quality, and leading a team to achieve operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and operations management, with a focus on cold storage and supply chain solutions. What You’ll Do • Operational Leadership: • Oversee the daily operations of the cold storage facility, ensuring all activities are conducted efficiently and effectively. • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity and service quality. • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement. • Team Management: • Lead, train, and mentor a team of warehouse and logistics personnel, fostering a positive and productive work environment. • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members. • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational demands. • Inventory Management: • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring accurate and timely tracking of all goods entering and leaving the facility. • Implement best practices for inventory management, including FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and LIFO (Last-In, First-Out) methodologies as appropriate. • Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy. • Safety and Compliance: • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies. • Develop and enforce safety protocols to minimize workplace accidents and injuries. • Maintain cold chain integrity and ensure proper storage conditions for all products. • Customer Service: • Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively. • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders, meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLAs). • Continuously seek opportunities to improve customer satisfaction. • Continuous Improvement: • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in cold storage and logistics technologies. • Lead initiatives to upgrade systems, equipment, and processes as needed. Manage USDA import/export inspections and certifications, coordinate shipments, and serve as liaison between customers, USDA inspectors, and logistics teams. | Experience with USDA regulations, import/export coordination, scheduling inspections, and customer communication. | Job Description: USDA Lead - 2nd Shift for FreezPak Logistics Position Overview: The USDA Lead at FreezPak Logistics is responsible for managing and leading the import and export of products in compliance with USDA regulations. This role ensures that all health certifications are accurate, inspections are scheduled and conducted efficiently, and products are properly labeled and approved for import or export. The USDA Coordinator serves as the key liaison between customers, USDA inspectors, and FreezPak Logistics. Import Coordination • Obtain Health Certification from customers and pre-review information to ensure product matches descriptions. • Schedule appointments with inspectors for import inspections. • Coordinate with the Lead to transfer products from storage to the dock for staging and inspection. • On the day of inspection, review Health Certification with the Health Inspector. • Review receiving tallies of products with the Health Inspector to ensure matching products to certification. • Follow guidance from the inspector to select and provide specific cases for USDA inspection. • Review product labels with the USDA Inspector and compare them with health certification for accuracy. • Coordinate approval stamping with the USDA Health Inspector once products are verbally approved for import. • Communicate and coordinate with customers regarding any rejected products to resolve discrepancies before proceeding with rejected shipments. • Conduct a final walk-through with the USDA Inspector once the shipment is approved and stamped. • Coordinate the sanitization of the USDA inspection room upon completion of physical inspections. • Communicate and coordinate with customers for shipment to the final destination once the final inspection is complete. Export Coordination • Coordinate with customers to obtain pre-information for health certification through USDA. • File applications for health certification on behalf of customers with their approval and review. • Print and file documents and schedule USDA Export inspections once the application is electronically approved. • Coordinate with the import supervisor to properly label each shipment prior to USDA Export inspection. • On the day of USDA inspection, coordinate and review inspection items with the USDA Inspector, including: • Reviewing labels for accuracy and condition. • Checking individual cases for damage. • Ensuring proper protection of product contents with shipping components. • Coordinate the sanitization of the USDA inspection room upon completion of physical inspections. • Communicate and coordinate with customers regarding any rejected products to resolve discrepancies before proceeding with rejected shipments. • Conduct a final walk-through with the USDA Inspector once the shipment is approved and stamped. • Communicate and coordinate with customers for shipment to the final destination once the final inspection is complete. Miscellaneous • Work with the customer service team to assist with various customer service functions. • Schedule product shipments and receiving. • Review billing to ensure the accuracy of agreed-upon services. • Train additional personnel on import, export, and CSR job functions. • Assist in the shipping and receiving office when necessary. • Serve as a liaison between USDA, customers, and FreezPak Logistics regarding any import and/or export coordination.
