Job Description The Software / Simulation Engineer develops, maintains, and executes digital simulation models to validate and optimize system designs before physical deployment. Responsibilities: 1. Simulation Model Development o Design and implement simulation models for automated systems, including material handling, robotics, and packaging lines. o Develop dynamic system models using tools such as AnyLogic, FlexSim, Plant Simulation, MATLAB, or Simulink. o Model control logic, throughput, energy use, and resource allocation. 2. System Analysis & Validation o Run “what-if” analyses to evaluate design options and system configurations. o Validate system performance against KPIs (throughput, utilization, cycle time, OEE). o Support design optimization for space, equipment, and resource planning. 3. Software & Controls Integration o Interface simulation models with control systems (PLC, WES/WCS) and digital twins. o Support integration of simulation output with SCADA, MES, or ERP environments. o Collaborate with software and controls teams to simulate real-world sequences. 4. POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Manager (PM) manages the coordination and completion of Material Handling System (MHS) projects with increasing levels complexity, scope, and budget. The PM assures all deliverables are on time, on budget, and within scope. The PM works directly with FORTNA employees, customers, supplier-partners, and other service providers in connection with project deliverables. The PM will rely on broad project management experiences and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while planning, leading, and directing the work of others. The PM will be expected to demonstrate a breadth of creativity commensurate with their experience. The role requires the PM to demonstrate broad project and customer leadership management skills. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education / Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of experience and/or 5+ years of work experience in one of the following disciplines: industrial, mechanical or civil engineering; industrial or construction management. Ability to travel up to 30% to client sites Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Proficient in maintaining structured processes, coordinating and scheduling projects, and using organizational tools to enhance efficiency. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. The Electrical Designer is focused on designing control panels and layouts for site-based conveyor systems for distribution, fulfillment, and warehouse applications. Applicant will be part of a controls and engineering team deploying complex material handling solutions for various customers and container types. A successful applicant will have a desire to learn and excellent attention-to-detail skills while creating and checking electrical schematics. Candidates should be able to work efficiently under the guidance of an engineering manager while leading their own tasks to completion with minimal supervision and in good harmony with the rest of the project team. JOB FUNCTIONS: Utilize Autodesk ACAD-E and other Fortna custom tools to complete drawings for control panels, power distribution single lines, conveyor layouts, and other electrical drawings as required. Develops fabrication drawings for projects, products and prototypes. Deploy and commission complex controls solutions in customer facilities. Be able to work and meet deadlines under pressure within aggressive schedules. Collaborate with other teams within the group and / or company to identify common problems and solutions. QUALIFICATIONS: Degree/Certificate in Computer Aided Design - OR - Minimum (2) years drafting experience in a material handling or machine design related field.
