Job Summary We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to lead the delivery of customer-facing AI-enabled Web applications for FirstUp’s SaaS platform hosted on AWS, serving hundreds of enterprise customers and millions of users. This role blends technical leadership, people management, and operational ownership. While hands-on coding is preferred but not required, you are expected to be deeply engaged in technical design and code reviews, ensuring solutions meet high standards for scalability, reliability, security, and quality. You will lead 8–10 geographically distributed software and quality engineers (full time employees and contractors), delivering enterprise-grade products in a “you build it, you run it” environment. You are a strategic, results-oriented leader who builds a strong engineering culture and consistently delivers customer value. \n Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade, customer-facing web applications using modern microservices architectures. Provide senior technical leadership through architecture decisions, design reviews, and code reviews, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability. Drive the thoughtful adoption of Generative AI tools and coding agents to increase developer productivity, improve code quality, and accelerate innovation. Partner closely with Product Management and Design to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Manage, mentor, and grow a distributed team of software and quality engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. Own production health for your teams’ services, including on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident reviews in a “you build it, you run it” environment. Lead operational excellence initiatives to improve observability, resiliency, automation, and alignment with defined SLOs and enterprise SLAs. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing and developing engineering teams. Proven experience delivering customer-facing Enterprise SaaS products at scale. Strong hands-on or architectural experience with AWS (compute, storage, networking, security, monitoring). Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native design, and microservices architectures. Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React and backend frameworks such as Ruby on Rails or equivalent technologies. Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases. Demonstrated success operating in a production-owned, “you build it, you run it” environment. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in cross-functional Agile/Scrum environments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience scaling and evolving Enterprise SaaS platforms through periods of growth or technical transformation. Demonstrated experience leveraging Generative AI tools and coding agents in software development workflows. Exposure to HR Tech or other regulated enterprise domains. \n Firstup expects the base salary for this role to be between $190,000-$230,000. The starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. Why Firstup? The ideal candidate will bring a cross-functional B2B sales approach that focuses on demonstrating value to the business/technical buyers and all the way up to C-Suite. Must demonstrate the ability to change and adapt to a fast-growing company in a remote environment. \n Responsibilities Drive new business to our ideal customer profile through value-based selling and clearly articulating our platform differentiation. Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy in the assigned territory. Lead the sales process from first meeting through close. Orchestrate other roles into the sales process as appropriate – technical validation, solution consulting, professional services, etc. Build business cases and other supporting materials to help support prospects in the buying cycle. Stay up to date on the latest product enhancements and deliver demos for prospects. Develop and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities. Utilize MEDDPICC and Command of the Message sales methodology to strategically prepare for calls, advance prospects in the sales process and accurately forecast revenue. Keep all customer information, notes, and documents up to date in Salesforce.com and other relevant systems; and provide accurate and timely reports. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of strong sales performance delivering high-value SaaS solutions to complex business problems in large enterprises. Including selling to the C-suite at FTSE 500 companies. Experience managing and demonstrating success in complex sales cycles in 6 or 7 figure deals. Driven by success, having hustle, and a strong desire to win. Team player who is collaborative, thoughtful, resourceful and must have a genuine curiosity to solve problems. Ability to build trust with technical and business decision-makers including C-Level buyers to win in a competitive environment. Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, high-growth company environment. The Revenue Recognition Accountant will work closely across multiple teams within the Company to address revenue accounting matters in the application of U.S. GAAP, and maintenance of revenue accounting policies. This role will own the end-to-end revenue accounting for Firstup and conduct research on complex revenue arrangements. In addition, this role will work closely with our financial reporting and GL accounting teams in support of the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, and other stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis (i.e., acquisition Integration team to ensure successful implementation of accounting policies and procedures for newly acquired businesses and accurate go-live reporting.) Responsibilities • Prepare and analyze revenue accounting entries for month-end close, ensuring deferred revenue waterfalls are accurately maintained at a customer contract level. • Own the ASC 606 revenue recognition in NetSuite (ARM module) monthly. • Perform detailed reviews/analysis of Master Agreements and Contracts to ensure that revenue is properly recorded, and documentation is in compliance with policy. • Perform SSP analysis as needed and create processes to maintain SSP analysis on an ongoing basis. • Review Order Perfection for data accuracy and revenue recognition impact in Salesforce. • Ensure the application of GAAP to complex revenue transactions. • Support the coordination of annual audit activities of external auditors, as needed. • Participate in the continuous improvement of revenue recognition processes and systems. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. • 1-3 years of direct experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, and/or 3-5 years of progressive general accounting experience with a strong understanding of revenue principles. • Proven experience with ASC 606 system implementations (e.g., NetSuite ARM module or similar), and/or Big 4 audit experience with a CPA license. • Strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP Accounting). • Excellent communication skills with ability to develop the "story" and form recommendations. • Superb attention to detail balanced by ability to focus on the "big picture." • Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets and Word / Google Docs related skills. • Excellent research and analytical skills. • Excited to build out systems and processes in a rapidly growing business. Firstup expects the base salary for this role to be between $70,000-$115,000. The starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
