Role Description The Vice President (VP) is a senior leader responsible for driving client strategy, managing key relationships, staff, and contributing to the firm’s growth and reputation. In a small public affairs firm, the VP plays a dual roll: providing high-level strategic counsel while remaining deeply involved in execution, team leadership, and business development. The role requires sound project management ability, excellent communication skills, and the drive to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. While this is an on-site job opportunity in Downtown Baltimore, a hybrid (1-2 days off-site) model may be considered. Key Responsibilities Client Strategy, Advice & Deliverables • Serve as a senior advisor and client lead regarding public affairs, government relations, advocacy, and communications strategy. • Lead the development and execution of grassroots, paid media, and integrated communications public affairs campaign deliverables, especially in the areas of legislative advocacy, political endeavors, and stakeholder engagement efforts. • Act as a primary point of contact for key client accounts, ensuring high-quality service and long-term relationships. • Work and coordinate with firm partners on key accounts driven and managed by the firm’s executives/partners. Leadership & Management • Manage and mentor junior and mid-level staff, providing strategic direction, feedback, and professional development. • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure work is completed on time and to a high standard. • Contribute to firm-wide planning, culture, and operational decision-making as part of the senior leadership team. Business Development & Growth • Support business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities, contributing to proposals, and participating in client pitches. • Leverage professional networks to help grow the firm’s client base and visibility. • Represent the firm externally with policymakers, stakeholders, partners, and at industry events. Policy & Political Engagement • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments relevant to client interests. • Maintain relationships with policymakers, staff, regulators, coalitions, and advocacy organizations. • Provide insight on political trends, risks, and opportunities at the local, state, and/or federal level. Qualifications • 6–8 years of experience in advertising, marketing, public affairs, government relations, in political campaigns, or a related field. • Proven experience working with clients and/or external partners. • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience, including managing teams and/or client relationships. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex issues clearly and persuasively. • One who pays special attention to detail, works well under pressure, and is a team player. • Experience and/or strong interest in Maryland or Baltimore region politics.
