This position is responsible for performing engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks both independently and with ongoing supervision from senior engineers. Responsibilities • Coordinate with engineers and designers on large-scale multidisciplinary infrastructure projects to develop construction quality engineering drawings, calculation packages, and other deliverables • Perform engineering calculations for concrete shallow foundations, deep foundations (including helical piles, driven piles, and other deep foundation solutions), industrial steel structures (beams, columns, bracing, connections etc.) and other structures expected in an industrial facility • Work with vendors to ensure vendor supplied equipment meets client needs, and vendor design is appropriate for site specific conditions • Work with drafters and designers to ensure that they update facility drawings to reflect calculated engineering design • Review and redline facility drawing design packages throughout a project timeline to ensure that final construction-quality drawings meet all client needs, and reflect all engineering design • Attend client meetings (both virtually and in-person) • Perform site visits to collect information needed for engineering design • Travel as required but not expected to exceed 25%, often 1x per quarter, which may include driving to project sites • Performs all other duties as assigned Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural engineering from ABET accredited university • 0-1 years of relevant industry experience • Registration as an EIT or professional engineer • Must have a valid driver's license without restrictions Preferred Qualifications • Concrete and steel design experience • Pipeline and/or industrial facility experience • Experience with RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro or other structural modelling software • Experience in AutoCAD, Microstation or other 2D and 3D modelling software (drafting will likely not be part of your role, but experience with the software our drafters and designers us is still very valuable) Not quite right for you? Lead full lifecycle design and engineering support for microgrid and distributed energy projects including solar, battery, and generator systems, interfacing with vendors and managing engineering consultants. | Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 4+ years in power/renewable energy project design, strong knowledge of industry standards, AutoCAD experience, and project management skills. | Introduction Join ENTRUST as a Technical Lead focused on Microgrid & BESS Design Engineering. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive IFC Design documents and project engineering support for our distributed energy and microgrid projects. Projects typically include managing a variety of DER and microgrid assets such as solar, energy storage, controls, and reciprocating engines. This position offers remote and hybrid options. Responsibilities • Work with switchgear manufacturers (and other OEMs) like Schneider Electric or Eaton to develop innovative designs and costing that are scalable to many jobs and customer sites. This includes working at voltage levels of 13.8kV, 4160V, 480V, and 208V depending on site and system size • Provide significant input to the solar, battery, and generator designs to optimize performance, reliability, and sustainability for each customer site • Lead on the full life-cycle of BESS and DER project design, guiding projects from conceptual design through to full system design. • Interface with equipment and technology vendors. • Use AutoCAD in order to carry out permit ready and IFC deliverables. Including but not limited to: Conduit/Cabling schedules, stub-up details, and required clearances as state by NEC/IEEE/NFPA standards • Utilize your strong technical and communication skills to interface with all aspects of the business and customers • Work extensively with our Business Development (BD) teams to evaluate and develop the right technical solutions • Work with the BD, execution, and commercial teams on specific projects to ensure the integration of the Microgrid is technically correct, practical, and cost-effective. These goals provide economic returns for us and the customer. • AutoCAD experience (for creating conceptual one-line diagrams and site layouts) • Experience in submitting interconnection applications, and reviewing Utility studies which may include Detailed Studies, Facility Studies, and System Impact Studies.
