About the role As the Director of Communications, you will lead Empatica’s external communications strategy, shaping how our company, technology, and impact are understood across healthcare audiences, including large pharma companies, hospital systems, clinicians, and patients. You will drive our brand visibility and position Empatica as a thought leader in digital health and wearable technology. The role works closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to support business growth, product innovation, and thought leadership in digital health. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy aligned with company goals and brand positioning Lead corporate messaging, narrative development, and brand voice across all external channels Oversee development of high-impact external content, including press releases, media materials, blog posts, executive bylines, presentations, and case studies Build and manage strong relationships with national, healthcare, technology, and trade media Drive proactive media outreach, press strategy, announcements, and executive visibility opportunities Identify and secure speaking engagements, awards, and thought leadership opportunities for company leaders Serve as a strategic communications advisor to senior leadership, including preparation for interviews, panels, and public appearances Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Clinical, Regulatory, and Leadership teams to support product launches, research publications, partnerships, and company milestones Manage agency partners and external PR vendors as needed Monitor media coverage, industry trends, and competitive positioning to inform strategy Define and track key performance metrics for communications impact and regularly report results to leadership Some important details: This role will be based in our office in Boston, MA, with flexible options for partial remote working. As the ideal candidate for this position, you have: Background in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field 5+ years of progressive experience in external communications or public relations, including leadership responsibility Fluency in spoken and written English is a must Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills Experience in digital health, healthcare technology, or medical devices is a plus Proven success in media relations and securing coverage in top-tier and industry publications Experience advising executives and preparing spokespeople Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to connect communications efforts to business and growth outcomes Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment A firm sense of accountability, with a pragmatic and execution mindset Excellent communication and presentation skills Life at Empatica You will join a fast-growing, international, and diverse team of 120+ talented people who care passionately about what we do and the difference we are making in the world. About the role As a Clinical Program Manager, you will be the main driver behind two types of activities: managing Empatica's internal efforts in the clinical space, and monitoring and coordinating the data acquisition work in multi-center clinical studies. You will oversee the project management of research projects with our highest-profile pharmaceutical clients, and be the main point of contact responsible for ensuring the overall success of the project. Working together with the rest of the Clinical Operations team, you will: • Oversee and drive the successful execution of ground-breaking research projects • Coordinate the efforts of multiple stakeholders (data scientists from Empatica, pharma companies, clinical researchers) and keep everyone aligned and on schedule • Hold frequent check-ins with the client, representing Empatica among its highest-tier research and business clients • Ultimately, improve people's lives, via ensuring the successful delivery of new therapeutics and diagnostics Requirements As the ideal candidate for this position you have: • A strong academic background, preferably in science. A firm understanding of novel health technologies is mandatory • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position, although at Empatica we focus less on years of experience and more on talent. • A passion for technology and innovation • Genuine interest and motivation for Empatica's mission: to unlock a better, data-driven understanding of human health, and drive better outcomes for millions of people • Solid technical and practical expertise in leading complex operational and strategic projects • A firm sense of accountability, with a natural inclination for effective prioritization • A pragmatic and execution mindset Previous experience in clinical operations is not mandatory, but it is a plus (e.g. biomedical research administration or healthcare, bioengineering background, knowledge of bioethics, etc.).
