Join us, and let’s improve lives together. • *This role can be performed remotely anywhere in the US** Essential Functions: • Develops and implements segment-specific risk control strategies that align with corporate goals and regulatory expectations • Develops the overall strategy to support the underwriting vision for the individual segments and leads the team in the execution of that strategy • Serves as assigned segment subject matter expert to provide risk control strategic direction enterprise wide • Leads the team in the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of operational and regulatory risks within assigned segment(s) identifying key exposures to loss and developing the tools needed to mitigate the exposures • Establish and monitor KPIs such as billable hours, recommendation compliance rates, and ROI success stories • Leads the process of aligning risk control strategies and practices with short- and long-term underwriting strategies within business segment(s) in support of enterprise-wide business and profitability goals • Partners with Underwriting, Claims, and analytics teams to integrate risk insights into business decisions • Acts as a strategic partner and technical resource for field risk control and team members, and offers guidance on complex matters within assigned business segment(s) • Proactively communicates and makes necessary recommendations to Risk Control Leadership for improvements needed to meet company goals and improve risk control results • Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations, and provide timely reporting to senior leadership • Serves on special projects with other strategic partners within the organization as a representative of assigned business segment(s) • Serves as a subject matter expert and provides risk control segment expertise to departments within the company, including organizing and assisting in preparation and teaching of workshops and seminars for risk control staff • Develops training and white paper materials for policyholders and agents • Partners with brokers to build strong relationships and represents EMC Risk Control during sales proposals, agent meetings, regional territory planning • Oversees and monitors the workload and performance of the Segment team within Risk Control, and performs all duties expected of a people leader at EMC • Other duties as assigned Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in safety, risk management, engineering, or equivalent relevant experience • Ten years of experience in casualty risk control, safety consulting, or related field, including at experience in all business segments in which EMC conducts business • Professional certifications such as CSP, ARM, or equivalent preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Strong knowledge of at least three of the six business segments in which EMC does business • Advanced understanding of risk exposures and mitigation strategies within assigned business segments • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data • Excellent ability to advise, partner, influence and effectively consult with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, executives, and project owners • Excellent ability to distill and communicate highly complex issues for technical and non-technical audiences • Advanced ability to interpret and apply safety regulations and industry standards • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following: $112,276 - $161,326 or $124,084 - $177,469 A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. Join us, and let’s improve lives together. • *This position is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S.** Essential Functions: • Serves as first point of contact for users seeking assistance with underwriting management, policy administration and rating platforms • Researches and answers inquiries, including moderately complex inquiries, from all levels of underwriting and rating team members as they related to general operation of the underwriting and policy systems, business procedures, system speed, outages and system documentation • Assists front line users/departments in their completion of policy transactions by analyzing the error, reviewing the detailed policy information, formulating a response on how to address the issue, either systematically or with a consistent business process or work around resolution • Assists and performs troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions. Determines the best solution based on the issue and details provided by user for all underwriting management, policy administration, and rating platforms (legacy and new) • Creates and updates online help documents for underwriting management and policy systems as assigned • As needed, creates and notifies users of systems changes as they are moved to production • Assists in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for assigned systems and features • Reviews the screen documentation to ensure that it matches the production screen functionality • Assists in the research of the impact to the system from proposed changes and enhancements, including the impact on the system users • Records, monitors, and reports on the progress of application changes and enhancements requests as a result of a help desk inquiry • Develops supplemental training, procedure and work-around materials • Identifies the need and contributes to training and resource documents for common issues as a result of Help Desk inquiries and metrics • Monitors procedural, business process and training materials for relevance to current needs; creates/modifies or partners with other teams to keep user resources current • Shares, or may facilitate, training for front line users; either individually or in group setting Education & Experience: • Associate degree in insurance, business administration, computer science, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience • Three years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, service desk, underwriting, rating, or technology or related preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Strong business knowledge of underwriting and rating, with related system knowledge • Strong analytical abilities to identify problems and prepare solutions • Strong knowledge of video and other file formats • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and other collaboration tools • Knowledge of technical concepts such as client-server, Web applications, and/or Cloud Architecture preferred • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills • Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently • Strong organizational skills • Ability to develop testing strategies, and follow through on projects • Excellent customer service skills The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $27.00-$37.00 range or the $30.00-$41.00 range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range.
