As the Business Development Specialist, you’ll focus on building referral relationships with hospitals, schools, and mental health providers to support enrollment for our Scottsdale program and virtual services. This behavioral health business development role is designed for a strategic outreach professional with a strong background in mental health marketing, referral development, and provider relations. Responsibilities include networking with behavioral health professionals, attending industry events, and promoting Embark’s full continuum of care. This position requires frequent travel within the territory, along with occasional evening and weekend work, with flexible scheduling available. This is an in person position in the Scottsdale area that requires our employees to be in the field at least 4 days a week. * Responsibilities The Business Development Representative plays a pivotal role in developing and maintaining a robust network of referral partners to achieve program enrollment goals. Key responsibilities include: Behavioral Health Partnership Building – Establish and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, mental health professionals, treatment centers, schools, and community organizations while serving as a trusted expert in mental health placement. Outreach Activity – Meet weekly engagement targets to drive consistent pipeline growth. Admissions & Referral Coordination – Work with admissions teams and referral partners to meet quarterly enrollment goals and guide families through the placement process. Strategic Outreach Planning – Track referral targets, document engagement, and manage resources to support clinic operations. Professional Networking – Attend conferences, industry events, and site visits to expand referral networks and stay current on behavioral health trends. Brand & Messaging Support – Ensure clear, compelling communication of Embark’s mission and services. Team Collaboration – Participate in weekly video meetings to align on strategy. Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or higher, with a minimum of 2–3 years in business development or sales in the Behavioral or Mental Health industry, or related. Local and Travel Requirements: Candidates must be based in the Scottsdale/ Phoenix Metro area and use a personal vehicle for frequent business travel. Address objections and overcome barriers to care using strategic problem-solving and sales techniques. Exceed daily/weekly KPIs for calls, follow-ups, and conversions—your success directly impacts lives and revenue. Qualifications 1–2 years of experience in sales, inside sales, customer service, call center, or admissions role (bonus if in healthcare, SaaS, or medical sales). Proven phone sales and relationship-building skills—empathetic yet persuasive. Comfort handling sensitive conversations with professionalism and urgency. Experience working in a remote, quota-driven environment is a plus. High school diploma or G.E.D required; associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or related field preferred. Strong working knowledge of insurance benefits and verification is highly desirable. Proficient in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and general tech tools; fast learner.
