You will be responsible for leading sales/use tax engagements and teams including day-to-day consulting, development of ideas, strategies and opportunities, and implementation of these ideas. You will also assist with management and communication of Sales/Use Tax Thought Leadership and developments to the internal firm and external clients. A typical day as a State and Local Sales Use Tax Senior Manager might include in the following: Development of internal and external client relationships Participate in practice growth through identification and implementation of client service opportunities and engagements. Develop and mentor junior professionals. Lead all manner of sales/use consulting engagements including nexus determinations, taxability analyses, quantification of potential liabilities, exposure mitigation, tax processes consulting, controversies and liaising with tax authorities, buy and sell side transaction advisory services, refund reviews, recovery studies, incentives, and more. Client communications, project scoping, budgeting, staffing, and billing. Monitor sales and use tax developments and issue firm communications. Participate in internal and external thought leadership, including preparation of written insights and speaker participation in webinars, trainings, and tax updates. Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis. Who You Are You have a Bachelor’s Degree (required); Masters of Taxation, MBA, LLM in Taxation, or JD (preferred). You have 10 or more years of related experience with sales/use taxation (required). You have either a valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, sales/use tax certification (CMI), LLM in Taxation, or JD (required). You enjoy keeping up to date on the ever-changing sales and use tax regulations and policies. You have experience with buy and sell side transaction advisory, nexus and taxability, VDAs and exposure mitigation, tax process consulting, sales tax audits and appeals, refund reviews, and monitoring/tracking/communications of trends and developments. Experience in Negotiated Incentives, Property Tax or Unclaimed Property is a plus. You enjoy and are skilled at people development and mentorship. You are highly skilled at identifying and addressing client needs; building, maintaining, and utilizing networks of client relationships and community involvement; communicating value propositions; managing resource requirements; managing project workflow, budgets, billing, and collections; and preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials. You possess experience as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; and coaching staff, including providing timely and meaningful written and verbal feedback. Manage client accounting needs, oversee and review accounting work, and provide high-level financial advisory services. | Requires 5+ years of accounting experience, proficiency with accounting software, and a CPA or CMA license preferred. | Location: Akron, OH Work Arrangement: In-office or hybrid A Day in the Life A typical day as a Client Accounting Services Manager in Akron, OH might include the following: • Manages client relationships by monitoring client needs and building value into professional service. • Actively handle day-to-day accounting needs for clients, functioning as their accounting department. • Oversee and review the work of outsourced accounting specialists and senior specialists. • Serve as a key point of contact on day-to-day accounting matters for the client. • Utilize technology to properly account for all accounting transactions for the client in real-time. • Reconcile client bank accounts. • Calculate month-end balancing and journal entries and provide an analysis of GL accounts. • Work closely with or act as the outsourced CFO to provide advisory services to clients including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. • Responsible for communicating month-end results to clients. • Prepare reports, returns, and other documents as required, including sales tax reports, year-end tax forms, monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, and other reports required by clients. • Provide the outsourced CFO with analysis of accounting information for high-level advisory services. • Make recommendations on how to streamline the processes. • Provide feedback in order to develop the outsourced accounting practice. • Provide mentoring and technical training for staff in the outsourced accounting services area. • Responsible for identifying opportunities to cross-sell Eide Bailly services to clients. • Perform client billings for accounting services provided. • Participate in all areas of business development. • Ensure timely and accurate performance on assigned projects. • Maintain compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines. Who You Are • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. • 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required. • Valid CPA or CMA license or working towards obtaining one of these licenses preferred. • Advanced knowledge of general ledger accounting and principles. • Ability to think innovatively to incorporate technology solutions and streamlined processes. • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally. • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects. • Ability to establish and maintain effect working relationships with co-workers and clients. • Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), QuickBooks, and using various software packages.
