Manage West Coast chassis fleet and dispatch processes to meet service levels while optimizing equipment utilization. | Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years experience in marine container transportation or customer service with Microsoft Office proficiency. | Hours are Tue-Fri 10AM-7PM and SAT 8AM-5PM (Hybrid position – WFH on SAT Shift) -- Office location for Tuesday through Friday is in Huntington Beach, CA Overall responsibility for managing the West Coast chassis fleet including the dispatch process to ensure high service levels to truckers at DCLI start/stop locations. Working with steamship lines, CY locations, terminals, and vendors daily. Development of processes for exception management including, but not limited to logistics challenges, chassis gains/drains and migration analysis. Duties and Responsibilities * Manage chassis fleet for assigned markets ensuring that chassis availability meets demands of the locations and ensuring timely service levels. * Monitor and control cost savings measures for assigned markets. * Develop and Implement Chassis Recovery process, manage and report results * Propose solutions to senior management to improve service, process, and/or savings opportunities based on monitoring the assigned markets for all the below (reported to management on a weekly basis) * Cost savings * Unbudgeted expenses * Service failures * Chassis repositioning moves * Sales/deliveries and idle equipment * Monitoring of idle/dwelling equipment * Work closely with M&R and Commercial team to manage and move chassis to fulfill lease opportunities and grow daily use business in the LA Market * Be adaptable/flexible to changes in business process or priorities as they arise. Be prepared for unexpected changes and redirection due to a highly dynamic market/industry. * Ensure DCLI Operation Team maintains data integrity, monitor DCLI systems, recommend development improvements and provide overview and support to relevant DCLI projects. * Maintain DCLI reposition work orders and report on a weekly basis. * Manage service level of repositioning vendors by monitoring and evaluating service delivery levels as per service contracts. Build relationships with vendors and address service issues as needed within markets. * Build good working relationships with customers, terminals, CYs motor carriers and Rail Yards. * Exposure to business financials and your markets’ performance based on company budgets and expectations. * Responsible for market research to identify current trends and use statistical and analytical tools to predict future trends and patterns which could affect DCLI. * Investigate, and where applicable, recommend technology solutions to improve work processes. * Develop and implement standard operating procedures where none exist. * Maintain communication and relationships with the DCLI management team. * Liaise with other business units to promote working relationships and common goals. * Promote a sense of teamwork and urgency. * Perform other assigned duties. * Coordinate and manage special projects, maintain and report out as required. * Adhere to DCLI Core Values. Qualifications * This position’s hours are Tue-Fri 10AM-7PM and SAT 8AM-5PM (Hybrid position – WFH on SAT Shift) * Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience. * Emphasis in supply chain, business, marketing or computer science. * Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in the Marine Container Transportation Industry or Customer Service related work. * Excellent communication skills both written and verbal * Ability to think conceptually and theoretically. * Strong organizational, multitasking, excel and time management skills required. * Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems. * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. This position will be able to communicate with all levels of internal and external organizations and will have a comprehensive understanding of road service, truck repair, and sales processes. Duties And Responsibilities • Create new sales leads, negotiate contracts, manage, and develop relationships with trucking customers to meet revenue and profitability objectives. • Identify, quantify, and pursue new revenue opportunities beyond existing relationships and use agreements. • Generate a deep understanding of the customers business, enabling the employee to be the “voice of the customer” and identify new ways in which the company can drive value. • Arrange, facilitate, and present at customer meetings. • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders, including Finance, Operations, Legal and Billing to address customer concerns and provide customized sales proposals. • Work within Salesforce to create account profiles, track opportunities, and ensure all customer related content remains current. • Attend various industry events, interacting with the entire customer base to promote the company vision • Provide well-informed advice and information that is valuable for internal strategic planning, but also the broader road service community. • Share up to date market intelligence to the Commercial organization as well as other internal stakeholders. • Identify opportunities to drive productivity, operational synergies, and technological improvements that can benefit both our customers and the company. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline • Five to ten years of experience in a sales or road service organization • Experience in the transportation/trucking industry or similar environment highly preferred • Hard working, self-starter, with an attention to detail • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills • Results oriented professional with effective writing and verbal communication skills • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in a fast paced and dynamic work environment • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Analytical thinker with a passion for problem resolution, process improvement, and excellent customer service • Ability to make clear and actionable business recommendations • Flexibility with the ability to quickly adapt to change • Ability to independently acquire and analyze information • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Tableau, SalesForce) • Must be able to travel on a regular basis • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening Benefits We understand that your role at CSS is only part of who you are.
