In this position, you will use your knowledge and experience in material handling to turn a concept into a working system by collaborating with Sales, Systems Engineers, Estimators, and project teams. You will report to the Applications Engineering Manager but may also lead a team on individual opportunities. In this role, you will… Turn concepts into functioning designs that meet our clients’ objectives using a variety of design software. Work closely with suppliers to understand their products’ specifications and ensure they meet client design requirements. Understand customer specifications and bid requirements to ensure compliance. Prepare bills of materials/conveyor manifests. Support Estimating by providing technical information for supplier RFPs. Review proposals and designs submitted by suppliers to confirm compliance with RFP, functional design requirements, and customer specifications. Participate in preparation of material handling integration solution proposals. Document decisions made through the design and bidding process to ease in transitioning project from Pre-contract to Operations team. Build expertise in material handling product offerings through working with suppliers, training, and personal efforts. Leverage industry knowledge and creativity to compare alternative technologies that optimize the application of different material handling equipment, controls, conveyors, staging/storage, sorting equipment, etc. to meet specific operational requirements. Provide equipment functionality and capability reports to the Sales team and assist them as a technical liaison. You’re proficient in AutoCAD software; working knowledge of manufacturer’s software tools (for example, HyCAD, iCAD, Ichor3d, Maestro) is a plus. You have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re able to deliver results for quick-turn projects with aggressive deadlines. You have excellent communication skills and you’re able to work well with clients, management, and multidisciplinary development teams. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will detail all aspects of material handling systems and create drawing sets for various stakeholders. You will also participate in engineering meetings and produce detailed mechanical installation drawings. | Candidates should have a BS in a technical discipline and 4-6 years of experience in the distribution and fulfillment space. Proficiency in AutoCAD and excellent communication skills are essential. | About the Team: Operations Engineering at DCS encompasses Project and Mechanical Engineers that perform all engineering activities from receipt of contract through commissioning and close-out of a project. About the Role: As a Mechanical Engineer, Distribution and Fulfillment you’ll apply your knowledge of engineering principles and materials to detail all aspects of material handling systems. You will be responsible for creating drawing sets that communicate the design to all stakeholders, including customers during firm engineering, building officials for permitting, and suppliers and subcontractors for their design and installation. You will contribute to a project team and report to an engineering manager. You will periodically take an active role in person when working with customers during design. In this role, you will… Review and apply customer specifications to design Review architectural and other drawings against conveyance design to check for interferences and ensure clearance requirements are met Participate in firm engineering meetings with the customers and suppliers; may lead technical discussion during these meetings Support in person meetings with customers or vendors near the DCS office (Franklin, TN) and occasionally in a customer’s office or job site Produce detailed mechanical installation drawings Create detailed Bills of Material for purchasing equipment Create point load drawings when required Verify calculations, such as horsepower and throughput Work with vendors to review equipment drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements Provide technical guidance during detailed design to best industry standards Produce and/or compile installation details, including supplier installation drawings and manuals, for the field Travel to job sites to verify field conditions Report drawing status to the Project Engineer as required maintaining the project schedule Create and maintain CAD files Review and create as-built drawings May occasionally design parts or platforms required for material handling system Provide other required engineering tasks as necessary Work a hybrid office schedule with an average of three days per week in the DCS office (Franklin, TN). Provide software support for conveyor and robotics systems by troubleshooting WMS/WES/WCS issues, analyzing logs, collaborating with software teams, and maintaining customer relationships. | 2+ years experience with warehouse management/control/execution systems, strong troubleshooting skills, Linux command line proficiency, knowledge of networking, excellent communication, and ability to work on-call. | About the Role: As a Software Support Engineer, you’ll provide software support for our customers with complex conveyor and robotics systems driven by our in-house and third-party software providers. All in all, you'll be a valuable member of our Customer Service team, supporting our efforts to build lasting relationships and deliver on our promises. We’ll appreciate your WMS/WES/WCS troubleshooting skills and attention to detail while working collaboratively with our customers through our Service Team as you answer support calls, identify and understand software and network issues, review data for root cause analysis, and develop appropriate solutions for a resolution plan of action. Serve as a primary contact for select customer sites after project implementation, visiting the client to build and maintain positive relationships. Effectively communicate with customers to provide information about specific products or services. Maintain and organize records of customer interactions and feedback as well as records of project warranties, main contacts for support, and issue warranty/service discontinuance orders. Keep system information current with changes and updates, including relevant software and equipment. Follow up with customers, referring unresolved complaints to designated departments, then ensuring the appropriate changes were made and the customer issue was resolved. You have 2 or more years of related experience, preferably with a warehouse management system (WMS), warehouse control system (WCS), and warehouse execution system. You can clearly communicate, both verbally and written, in order to effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise. You are able to be on call as part of a rotational 24/7 team, meeting 15-minute response time while on call.
