Lead research and analysis on building electrification and heat pump impacts, coordinating teams and communicating findings to stakeholders. | Bachelor's degree with 3+ years experience in research design, project and vendor management, and stakeholder communication, with preferred skills in data visualization and clean energy technologies. | Con Edisons Customer Clean Energy Programs team is seeking a Building Electrification Strategy Manager to oversee and develop the companys building electrification strategy. The manager will be responsible for driving business and process improvements that advance the companys electrification transition goals and enhances the customer experience. The manager will lead research engagements and steer cross-team collaboration and thought on how the company and customer programs manage customer affordability and grid readiness to deliver on electrification goals. The role requires a manager who can foster meaningful relationships across internal and external stakeholders, is experienced in leading ambitious research initiatives, disseminating findings across the Company, translating insights into concrete recommendations for action, and leading implementation efforts as needed. The role calls for technical understanding of building electrification and other clean energy technologies as well as demonstrated research and analytical abilities, written and verbal communication, project management experience, and curious mindset. This role provides the opportunity to learn about Con Edisons clean energy investments and overall business model, understand how the traditional utility processes are evolving, and shape how the Company is preparing for the electrified future. RESPONSIBILITIES Core Responsibilities * Lead Con Edisons annual Heat Pump Bill Impact Study, analyzing customers consumption and billing data to understand how heating electrification affects bills. Evolve and expand studies to gather new insights on new market trends. * Design and execute other structured research initiatives to better understand the impact of our building electrification incentive programs, for example how electrification affects customers peak electric demand across customer segments. * Support refining electrification strategy for hard to electrify customers through phased and hybrid applications. * Conduct market research to better understand customer motivations and experience in our programs. * Identify the cross-team priorities regarding electrification integration across company organizations and seek to develop engagement, knowledge, and opportunities for solutioning that further drives successful electrification implementation. * Using research insights, identify opportunities for Con Edison to improve customer affordability and support grid readiness as customers electrify their heating. * Manage third-party consultants as needed. * Disseminate research findings and recommendations to various groups within the Company including Rate Engineering, Customer Operations, Electric Operations, Gas Engineering, Commodity Forecasting, Strategic Planning, and Corporate Affairs. * Present findings to external stakeholders as needed, including Department of Public Service regulatory staff. * Perform other related tasks and assignments as required. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Experience * Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience. Relevant Work Experience * Proven success in designing and executing research projects using large datasets and making recommendations based on findings. Required. * Proven success in communicating complex topics to diverse stakeholders through emails, slide decks, and verbal presentations. Required. * Demonstrated project management and vendor management experience, with the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders. Required. * Demonstrated agility and flexibility in dealing with ambiguity and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Required. * Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills. Required. * Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Preferred. * Proficiency with Power BI or similar data visualization software. The Manager of Business Development will manage projects from origination through development, including creating work plans, developing business and financial models, managing internal and external subject matter experts, navigating electric transmission projects through complicated regulatory and permitting processes. The position also includes structuring business development partnerships that meet CETs needs as well as the needs of our partners and presenting opportunities to executives for evaluation and review. RESPONSIBILITIES Core Responsibilities * Con Edison Transmission (CET) is a regulated subsidiary of CEI which owns and develops electric transmission assets. CET is currently working on multiple opportunities to grow its electric transmission portfolio. The Project Manager, Business Development in Electric Transmission is responsible for evaluation of potential investment opportunities, focused on New England, New York, PJM and interregional opportunities in the Northeast USA. The Project Manager of Business Development will manage project development from the solution origination stage through the initial development phase. This includes creating work plans, developing business and financial models, managing internal and external subject matter experts, and navigating electric transmission projects through complicated regulatory and permitting processes. The Project Manager will be responsible for negotiating contracts with partners and customers and communicating the details of potential business opportunities to CET and CET leadership for evaluation. Lastly, they will help the organization achieve its overall strategic growth objectives. * The Project Manager will be responsible for specific projects related to business development, investment assessment, partnership structure, and management oversight of electric transmission projects and investment opportunities. The Project Manager may also be called upon to review and evaluate potential M&A opportunities, as well as project manage due diligence and transaction execution for such opportunities. The Project Manager must be capable of designing and executing detailed work plans for the development phase, including managing multiple teams of internal and external subject matter experts. * The Project Manager will be expected to be able to clearly and succinctly present their analytical results, suggested deal structures, and opportunities for improvement. They will also be expected to represent CET in negotiating situations with other parties, with the guidance of senior management. * The Project Manager should be team-oriented and is expected to support other CET initiatives, regulatory position development and advocacy, marketing, special projects, and assignments as needed to support CETs business plans and objectives. * Work with partners and industry participants to develop potential electric transmission opportunities. * Analyze industry developments that impact CETs current and potential investments, including commodity market fundamentals and regulatory & legislative developments. Monitor NYISO, PJM and ISONE by attending and participating in various stakeholder/industry meetings and events. * Ability to evaluate and understand commodity and resource modeling, including the impact of new transmission projects. * Coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to evaluate feasibility and constructibility of projects through the permitting phase. * Provide review of financial analysis to determine rates and project economics for current and potential investments. Understanding of revenue requirements modeling over project lifetime is needed. * Supervise and mentor Analyst(s) and consultants in support of projects and tasks to achieve CETs strategic objectives. * For projects in the construction phase, work with partners on oversight, cost management, and project management of investments. * Participate in enterprise risk management activities to help CET understand rising or falling risks and to appropriately mitigate those risks. * Meet regularly with CET and CEI leadership to communicate the details and status of active projects. * Travel is required primarily as part of project development including to identify potential projects for development as well as to meet with partners and potential partners, as appropriate.
