View Job
Compensation$186K - 219K a year

Building and maintaining frontend web applications with a focus on onchain components, open sourcing projects, and collaborating on decentralized onchain platform development. | At least 5 years of software engineering experience, 4+ years in web app development with JavaScript frameworks, experience with onchain components, and familiarity with crypto and blockchain technologies. | Base is planning to bring a million developers and a billion users onchain. We need your help to make that happen. We believe that the onchain platform is the most important builder platform since the internet ("online"). We believe that the onchain platform should be open source, free to use, and globally available. And we believe that in order to make it really work, we need all hands on deck, working together to scale in a secure, decentralized, easy-to-use way. At Base, we live by our Stay Based values: we do the right thing, work hard, stay optimistic, prioritize the team, and push creative boundaries—all while building the future of onchain. We value a Zone 3+ work ethic, where our team rises to the challenge, embraces hard weeks, and makes small to significant personal tradeoffs when necessary to drive impact and innovation. Base is incubated within Coinbase and plans to progressively decentralize in the years ahead. We believe that decentralization is critical to creating an open, global crypto economy that is accessible to everyone. Base is built on Optimism's open-source OP Stack. We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Base team with emphasis in frontend onchain engineering, to enable and accelerate the success of Base. You'll be working across all components of our system to enable the next generation of onchain products at the company. What you'll be doing: • Building and maintaining our frontend web applications with high quality standards • Open sourcing our web apps and libraries, and managing open source contributions and issues from the community • Assisting teams inside Coinbase building onchain products, leveraging industry best practices and modern dapp development patterns • Building key components of the OP Stack to further the decentralization of Base and other L2s What we look for in you: • You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering, and at least 4 years of experience in developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern js frameworks like React and NextJS • You've developed and shipped user-facing features with onchain components • You're familiar with current trends and best practices in frontend architecture and dapp development, including security, performance, and usability. • You're familiar with product and design lifecycles, and collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product managers • You write high quality, well tested and maintainable code Nice to haves: • You've worked with Golang, Geth, Foundry, Solidity • You have contributed to open source crypto projects, for example OP Stack contributions or Base contributions • Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks • You've built responsive web or mobile applications • Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services. Job #: GBFE05US • Answers to crypto-related questions may be used to evaluate your onchain experience Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below.
