Position Overview This position is in support of CHAI’s Infectious Diseases, Research and Labs (IDRL) access program which negotiates price reductions for drugs and diagnostics, customizes products for resource-limited settings, and works to broaden the supply base and increase the quality of these treatments.Specifically, the Financial Analyst will report to the Associate Director, Finance and will play a critical role in supporting strong financial management across IDRL teams by ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, grant compliance, and financial reporting. Background on the Global Markets Team (GMT) The CHAI Global Markets Team (GMT) strives to build healthy marketplaces to ensure the sustainable supply of vital medical commodities. Their primary objective will be to design, maintain, and update CHAI’s global supply-and demand-side strategies, lead negotiations with pharmaceutical companies, and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure sufficient supply of affordable and high-quality commodities to low- and middle-income markets. In doing so, the Associate Director will develop strong relationships with global and country teams within CHAI, as well as with pharmaceutical suppliers and key opinion leaders. The Associate Director will also ensure that CHAI’s work in SRMNH priority areas is co-ordinated with other international and research organizations focused on the same priority areas by playing a pivotal role in co-ordinating planning and delivery across organizations. We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with outstanding problem-solving abilities and communication skills that shares in CHAI’s mission and values. The Associate Director must be able to manage a small number of direct reports, function independently, and have a strong commitment to excellence. Responsibilities Design and implement market shaping strategies to increase access to key commodities Manage the supply-side strategy and develop expertise in a range of relevant areas (including pharmaceutical costing and production economics, product development and commercialization strategies, financial and market analyses, and relationship management) Work with GMT leadership, other CHAI teams and external stakeholders to develop work plans that support marketing shaping goals and achieve grant deliverables Manage the delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder projects ensuring high quality, on time delivery of objectives Cultivate strong relationships with senior executives of drug and diagnostics companies, and governmental, multilateral, and non-governmental organizations Lead negotiations with pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies on pricing and supply terms and support other members of the Global Markets Team as they prepare for and lead negotiations Proactively identify opportunities to shape market dynamics for key products needed in LMICs and evaluate market opportunities for new drugs and diagnostic Represent CHAI effectively to major donors and external partners Engage CHAI’s scientific experts to provide technical support to suppliers as needed on topics ranging from product prioritization, production planning, regulatory approval processes, drug quality issues, demand forecasting, etc. Build and maintain institutional capacity and facilitate opportunities for knowledge sharing Effectively manage oneself, direct, and/or indirect reports within a matrixed organization Other responsibilities as needed.
