Lead and manage large-scale construction projects, develop client relationships, and mentor project teams. | Proven experience managing multi-million dollar construction projects, leading teams, and strong regional network in Southeast Michigan. | We are seeking a Senior Project Manager | Market Leader to provide executive leadership for our K–12 construction operations in Southeast Michigan. This role carries full accountability for project execution, market stewardship, and team leadership within an established and highly relationship-driven market, balancing operational excellence (60%) with strategic business development (40%). As a senior leader, you will oversee complex, high-value commercial and bond-funded K–12 projects, while building, mentoring, and retaining top-tier talent. You will play a critical role in cultivating long-term client relationships with school districts, boards, and public stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor throughout planning, funding, and delivery. You will also act as a visible market ambassador while engaging community leaders, design partners, and trade partners to strengthen our regional presence and ensure projects deliver meaningful community impact. This position is designed for a proven construction leader who excels at stakeholder engagement, aligns people and strategy, and is prepared to influence outcomes and sustain growth in a competitive, established market. To excel in this role, you must have: • Proven experience managing multiple construction projects totaling $50M+, and/or a single large-scale project exceeding $150M. • Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams of 10 or more professionals. • A well-established professional network in the region with a strong track record of client engagement and business development. Operational Responsibilities: • Lead and manage a team of 10 or more through the full construction lifecycle from contract execution to estimating and project completion. Serve as the primary point of accountability, ensuring project goals are met and issues are resolved efficiently. • Bring extensive experience in interpreting and executing contract requirements in real time, including coordinating with trade contractors. You take ownership of agreements, scheduling, and budgeting ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. • Coach and mentor project teams, including Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents by providing regular feedback and leadership development to uphold our standards for safety, quality, environmental compliance, and profitability. • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, and design teams. Proactively anticipate project needs and ensure team responsiveness by understanding client organizations and their broader business objectives. • Contribute to the company's strategic planning process and lead project-level initiatives that align with our long-term vision, mission, and growth objectives. Business Development Responsibilities: • Lead pursuit efforts from RFP to submission, including staffing strategies, GC requirements, site logistics planning, CPM scheduling, and budget validation to position the team for success. • Drive business development through relationship-building, maintaining trust-based partnerships with clients, A/E firms, and industry peers to secure new and repeat work. • Collaborate across departments including Marketing, Business Development, and our self-perform division CCS to analyze market trends, expand into new sectors, execute targeted strategies, and identify growth opportunities. • Actively engage in the industry by attending events, presenting at conferences, publishing thought leadership, and maintaining a strong social media presence to enhance both personal and company brand visibility. • Mentor and empower teams, applying seller-doer principles, leveraging internal tools like Sector and Capture Plans, and attracting top talent through your professional network to strengthen team performance and pipeline growth. Requirements: • Experience leading a team of 5 or more while running multiple projects with budgets over $10MM • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field - Preferred • Proven expertise in commercial construction, developed through hands-on experience and formal education, with a strong track record of safely completing projects on time and within budget by applying advanced planning, scheduling, and risk and cost management techniques. • Experience using project management and scheduling software to plan, track, and coordinate construction projects effectively. • Reliable transportation to and from the work site, as well as on-site mobility (required for certain roles).
