Lead product strategy and execution from concept through launch in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment balancing user, partner, and business needs. | 3+ years product management experience, ability to operate in ambiguity, strong stakeholder management, and familiarity with regulated industries. | About Clair If you can send your friends money in seconds, why does it still take your employer two weeks to send your paycheck? At Clair, we are on a mission to create financial freedom for America's workers by giving them a digital banking platform that allows them to get paid as soon as they clock out of work. But we're not just another digital bank or on-demand pay provider. We meet Americans at their place of work by embedding our products within the scheduling, workforce management, and payroll apps they already use every day. Learn more about us at getclair.com/about About The Role We’re looking for a Product Manager to help bring one of Clair's next products to life. The product you'll initially work on exists today in successful private beta and is actively being expanded. That means you'll have a unique opportunity to join early in the product journey and help shape how we take an idea from concept to a real-world product and experience. This isn't a role where you'll inherit a perfectly defined roadmap or be handed a clear playbook for success. We have a direction, a problem we're working to solve, and a vision, but there is still plenty to figure out. You'll help turn ambiguity into action, make smart decisions with imperfect information, and work alongside a small, highly collaborative team to build, test, learn, and iterate quickly. At Clair, building products is uniquely complex. We're an embedded fintech company, which means great product decisions require balancing the needs of our users with partner priorities and internal business demands, all while operating within a regulated environment. You'll work closely with engineering, design, data, finance, regulatory, operations, go-to-market, and partner teams to navigate those competing inputs and find the best path forward. We're looking for a builder who is comfortable with gray areas, thinks outside the box, and isn't afraid to try something that might not work. You know how to move quickly without being reckless and understand that failing fast is only valuable if you're learning fast, too. You won't be joining a team with every answer already mapped out. You'll help us find them. If you need someone to tell you exactly how to win, this probably isn't the role for you. What You'll Do • Identify, evaluate, and help define opportunities for new Clair products and experiences, often before the problem or solution is fully understood. • Define and execute product strategy and roadmaps in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. • Partner closely with engineering and design to move quickly from concept to experiment to product, balancing speed with thoughtful execution. • Build, test, learn, and iterate quickly—knowing when to invest further and when to fail fast and move on. • Balance user experience and needs with partner priorities, business requirements, and the realities of operating an embedded fintech product. • Spend time with partner management and go-to-market teams to identify new opportunities, uncover unmet needs, and develop new product concepts when necessary. • Develop a deep understanding of Clair users through feedback, behavioral data, research, and direct conversations—and push for new ways to learn when existing data isn't enough. • Work closely with data and analytics teams to develop hypotheses, evaluate product performance, and make informed decisions without becoming paralyzed by incomplete data. • Collaborate with design and support teams to create intuitive, elegant experiences that help users understand and confidently engage with financial products. • Partner with regulatory, finance, operations, and other internal stakeholders to navigate complex requirements without losing sight of the user experience. • Bring the voice of the customer into product strategy, roadmap discussions, and day-to-day product decisions. • Analyze market trends, emerging customer needs, and the broader fintech landscape to identify opportunities for innovation and new business lines. • Advocate for your product and point of view, including with senior leadership, while remaining open to feedback and willing to change your mind when new information emerges. • Take ownership from problem identification through launch and iteration—you won't just recommend what should happen; you'll help make it happen. What We're Looking For • 3+ years of product management experience, ideally with experience building new products or features from the ground up. • Experience working in consumer fintech, neobanking, financial services, or another complex and regulated industry is preferred. • Comfortable operating in ambiguity; you can create clarity and momentum without needing every decision, process, or path defined for you. • Strong product instincts paired with a willingness to test those instincts quickly and learn when you're wrong. You should be able to express and extol a strong sense of how you want a product to be before it exists. • Experience balancing multiple stakeholder needs while maintaining a clear point of view about what is best for the user and product. • Deep empathy for how Americans use financial products and an interest in how financial products can meaningfully impact people's lives and financial wellbeing. • Experience partnering closely with design teams and a strong ability to articulate product preferences, user needs, and tradeoffs. • Comfort working with engineers, data teams, and technical systems—even if you're not the most technical person in the room. • Understanding of or curiosity about lending systems, underwriting, payments, risk management, or other financial infrastructure is highly preferred. • Strong data fluency and experience using quantitative and qualitative insights to inform product decisions. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bring people along when the answer or path forward isn't immediately obvious. • Comfort advocating for a product strategy or roadmap, including upward with senior leadership. • A strong sense of ownership and accountability—you see problems through rather than waiting for someone else to solve them. • A startup mindset: resourceful, adaptable, practical, and energized by building something that doesn't already exist. You'll Thrive in This Role If You... • Get energized when someone says, "We don't know exactly how we're going to do this yet." • Can make progress without waiting for perfect information. • Have strong opinions, loosely held. • Know that moving fast doesn't mean rushing. • Can balance what users want, what partners need, and what the business requires. • Are comfortable being wrong, as long as you learn quickly. (We call this the ‘Roomba’ mentality - hit a wall and find a new way forward) • Enjoy creating structure where there currently isn't any. • Think the best part of product management is figuring out what to build next. This is a role for a builder. The roadmap won't always be clear, the answer won't always be obvious, and the path to success won't be pre-defined. But if you're excited by the opportunity to help shape what's next for Clair, you'll have a meaningful opportunity to do just that. Learn more about us at getclair.com/about Who We Are Looking For At Clair, we are building technology that transforms how people access their pay. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Products team, your job extends well beyond converting tickets into pull requests. We are looking for an engineer who operates like a Product Manager: someone who takes full ownership of the feature lifecycle, obsessively measures post-launch business outcomes, and designs systems with downstream impacts—like data pipelines and analytics—in mind. You will lead the adoption of AI-native engineering practices across the team, leveraging state-of-the-art models, building autonomous agents, and embedding agentic workflows into both our core product architecture and internal development processes. We operate at the intersection of fintech, embedded finance, and real-time payroll systems—building products that handle millions of transactions with sub-second performance. Your work will directly enable millions of hourly workers to access financial freedom. If you are a problem solver who loves technical challenges, is passionate about performance optimization, security, and scalable architecture, and wants to influence key product decisions, you’ll love working with us. What You’ll Do • End-to-End Product Ownership: Partner directly with design, product, and data teams to define technical strategy, question assumptions, and evaluate product trade-offs before writing a line of code. • Build with AI & Agents: Architect and deploy features utilizing AI models and autonomous agentic workflows. Drive the integration of modern AI tools to accelerate team velocity and enhance user experience. • System-Wide Architecture: Design resilient systems considering latency, scale, downstream data consumers, and telemetry, ensuring data pipelines receive clean, actionable events. • Measure Business Impact: Own features after launch. Instrument key metrics, monitor performance dashboards, investigate post-release gaps, and iterate based on real user behavior and business outcomes. What You’ll Need • Technical Excellence: Deep experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade applications in cloud-native environments. • Agentic Workflows & AI Native: Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-assisted workflows for rapid, high-quality code generation. • Product & Business Acumen: A track record of prioritizing user impact over technical cleverness and holding yourself accountable to business metrics (conversion, retention, operational cost). • Systems & Data Mindset: Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and how core transactional systems feed analytical data engineering pipelines. • Fullstack Development: Ability to work across the stack comfortably, fully owning a product or feature. • Frontend – React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and Expo (React Native) – Expertise with these is necessary. • Backend – Laravel (PHP) – Some experience is ideal, but not a necessity as long as you have demonstrable expertise building performant backend systems at scale. • Databases – PostgreSQL • Infrastructure – AWS • Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional communication skills. Clair is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Whether on calls or in writing, we value clarity of communication and precision in what we say very highly. • Travel: Occasional travel for company onsites and project planning, typically 2-4 trips per year, but can vary as needed. Bonus Qualifications • Experience working with financial technology platforms and payroll systems. • Specific experience in lending, payments, BNPL, ACH, etc is highly valued. Why Join Us • Massive impact: Your work will empower millions of workers to access their wages instantly. • Challenging, meaningful work: We are solving hard fintech problems at scale. • Autonomy & ownership: Engineers own features end-to-end and influence architecture and product decisions. • Top-tier teammates: Work with elite engineers who are passionate about high-performance, scalable systems. • Fast-moving culture: We prioritize execution, technical excellence, and customer impact. • Growth opportunities: Lead projects, mentor others, and grow into a Staff to Principal Engineer. As Clair continues quickly scaling, management opportunities may also open up. • Flexible work & perks: Competitive salary, equity, unlimited PTO, conference stipends, and top-tier benefits.
