Handle all aspects of wound care billing including coding, claims submission, collections, and insurance follow-up. | Associates degree or equivalent with prior medical billing experience, proficiency in coding systems, and knowledge of insurance claim processes. | Job Overview The Wound Care Billing Specialist is responsible for handling all aspects of billing and reimbursement related to wound care services provided by multiple wound care companies. This includes reviewing medical documentation, coding procedures, submitting claims, and following up with insurance companies to ensure timely and accurate payment. The Wound Care Billing Specialist works closely with healthcare providers and the billing team to ensure compliance with coding and billing guidelines. Responsibilities • Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 coding systems. • Review patient records to ensure completeness and accuracy of information for billing purposes. • Process claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment. • Handle medical collections, including contacting patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements. • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information. • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. • Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance. • Complete Insurance Verification Requests for Wound Care and other specialty billing. Experience • Associates degree or equivalent • Previous experience in medical billing, preferably in wound care • Proficient in medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) • Knowledge of insurance claim submission and payment processes • Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Understanding of insurance guidelines including Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation, and all Commercial managed-care plans If you are passionate about healthcare administration and possess the necessary skills, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity as a Medical Biller.
