Job Description Software Product Manager – Android About Bose & the Audio Technology Team For over 60 years, Bose has been a leader in delivering premium audio experiences, setting the benchmark for performance, elegance, and simplicity. Bose’s Technology Licensing team plays a pivotal role in expanding that legacy, transforming proprietary innovations into market-ready software and technology solutions that power products across the consumer electronics, automotive, and wearables industries. We focus on shipping real software platforms that integrate cleanly into modern Android 16, 17 and beyond, scale across partners, and represent Bose’s technical credibility in system audio, spatial processing, and acoustic tuning. About the Role We are seeking a Software Product Manager to lead the Android platform software team and own Bose’s Android audio platform. This role delivers spatial audio processing, acoustic tuning algorithms, elegant system-level UX, and orchestrated multi-device audio experiences across Android phones, wearables, and connected devices. The role operates at the intersection of current Android platform capabilities, advanced audio systems, and long-term business strategy, serving multiple stakeholders including Android OEMs, internal and external tuning engineers, and licensing leadership. This is a hands-on, platform leadership role, not a feature PM position. Key Responsibilities Product Leadership & Execution Lead the Android platform software team as Product Owner for a persistent Agile team. Own roadmap, backlog prioritization, and delivery sequencing across Android platform milestones. Define core platform capabilities versus OEM-specific extensions, ensuring scalability across partners. Ensure foundational audio pipeline bring-up precedes optimization, spatial feature layering, and UX refinement. Android Platform Ownership Own integration into Android system audio, including AudioFlinger, audio effects frameworks, and Audio HAL using AIDL-based interfaces. Manage Android version dependencies across AOSP, OEM forks, and Android CDD requirements. Guide architectural decisions across ARM processing, Qualcomm Hexagon DSP, and MediaTek audio DSP targets. Understand trade-offs between framework changes, vendor hooks, and application-layer solutions in modern Android. Spatial Processing & Acoustic Tuning Own product definition for spatial audio, binaural rendering, HRTFs, and device-specific acoustic tuning algorithms. Support internal and external tuning engineers with clear configuration surfaces, constraints, and validation expectations. Reason end-to-end about latency budgets, buffering, synchronization, clock drift, and power consumption. Ensure system-level audio UX remains coherent across use cases including media, voice, and immersive playback. Connectivity, Sensors & Experience Orchestration Understand Bluetooth audio pipelines, including LE Audio, LC3, Auracast, and Fast Pair. Coordinate with embedded and wearable teams on head tracking, IMU ingestion, and sensor fusion paths. Ensure platform decisions enable orchestrated, cross-device audio experiences rather than isolated features. Stakeholder & Strategy Alignment Balance requirements from Android OEM partners, tuning teams, and long-term platform and licensing strategy. Define clear ownership boundaries between Bose software, OEM platform changes, and third-party components. Ensure platform investments support future ecosystem expansion and repeatable software licensing. Required Experience Must-Have 8+ years in software product management or technical product leadership. Experience leading system-level or platform software teams. Strong working knowledge of Android platform internals, especially modern Android audio. Proven ability to ship software tied to hardware, firmware, and OS integration. Technical credibility with Android framework, DSP, embedded, and Bluetooth engineers. Preferred Experience with spatial audio, real-time signal processing, or acoustic tuning systems. Familiarity with Qualcomm and MediaTek Android audio stacks. Experience with Android OEM integration, AOSP-based development, or platform licensing models. Why Join Us?
