As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer on the ControlCheck team at Bluesight, you will spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of both front-end and back-end applications. \n You can expect to Build web services using Ruby on Rails and Python FastAPI Regularly deploy your work via Infrastructure as Code with Terraform. Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to deployment and monitoring. Ensure application performance, security, and scalability meet the highest standards. Create comprehensive unit and integration tests to maintain code quality and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions. Lead code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and champion best practices. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and continuously enhance our technology stack. Mentor junior engineers, foster a culture of learning, growth, and technical excellence. Qualifications and Requirements A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Solid understanding of software engineering best practices (code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, etc.) Experience in developing Infrastructure as Code to deploy your work. Demonstrated expertise in writing comprehensive tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure code quality and reliability. Strong understanding of database systems, focused on relational SQL (MySQL) Proven experience in product development, translating business requirements into scalable and user-centric software solutions. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate within cross-functional teams. Our CostCheck platform empowers hospital pharmacy teams to manage pharmaceutical spend — identifying overcharges, optimizing contract pricing, and surfacing savings opportunities across complex drug catalogs — in an efficient, accurate, and scalable manner. We are committed to improving the financial health and compliance of our nation's healthcare providers, and our spend analytics and alerting products are the backbone of our offerings. Our next Full-Stack Engineer will be dedicated and responsible for technical decision-making, design, and development across the CostCheck applications — from PostgreSQL schema and Hibernate/JPA persistence layers, through Spring Boot services, all the way to our Angular and React UIs — as well as interfacing with our other development teams. This innovative individual must be versatile, display collaborative qualities, and be enthusiastic to tackle new problems in a robust and forward thinking business and technical environment. You will be a key contributor across the Bluesight Platform — including our shared Java data model and persistence library, customer-facing webapp, and internal admin tooling — as we look to build new customer features and keep codebases in line with modern technologies and code patterns. While CostCheck is your home base, you'll also help shape the architecture and roadmap of our ShortageCheck drug shortage management platform. CostCheck and ShortageCheck share a growing set of roadmap items, and we want an engineer who can think across both products — ensuring the data models, services, and customer experiences evolve together rather than in isolation. ShortageCheck runs on a Python (FastAPI) and React/TypeScript stack, so comfort reaching into a Python codebase is a real plus. Our Tech Stack Backend (CostCheck): Java 21, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, PostgreSQL, Maven Backend (ShortageCheck): Python, MySQL + Athena, SageMaker ML pipelines Frontend: Angular, React, TypeScript Infra: AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront) AI-assisted development: We are heavy Claude Code users — our engineers ship faster by pairing with Claude on everything from schema migrations and Hibernate entity design to Angular component work, code review, and production support. We invest in custom skills, subagents, and team-shared workflows, and we expect our engineers to be effective at leveraging AI tooling as a force multiplier. \n You can expect to Design and build features end-to-end: PostgreSQL schema and migrations, Hibernate/JPA entities, Spring Boot REST APIs, and the webapps that consume them. Tune complex queries against a large, normalized pharmaceutical data model. Maintain a high bar for developer experience and champion technical excellence. Review code and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback during code reviews. Own the full software development lifecycle – from ideation and design to deployment and monitoring in Datadog. Contribute to ShortageCheck's product architecture and roadmap, helping align overlapping initiatives across CostCheck and ShortageCheck so the two platforms grow together. Provide compassionate technical mentorship and pairing opportunities. Push our AI-assisted workflows forward — build skills, refine prompts, and help the team get more out of Claude Code. Stay updated with industry trends and integrate emerging technologies. Qualifications and Requirements 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working across the stack. Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including REST API design, dependency injection, and testing. Strong Hibernate/JPA skills — entity mapping, relationship modeling, fetching strategies, and avoiding common pitfalls (N+1, lazy-loading issues, dialect/connection-pool quirks). Strong PostgreSQL skills — schema design, indexing, query tuning, and writing/reviewing migrations safely against large production datasets. Comfort on the front-end: experience with modern web frameworks and integrating UIs with RESTful APIs. Expertise in software engineering best practices, including unit and integration testing. Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) and a thoughtful perspective on where they help and where human judgment is required. Progressive experience in analyzing complex problems, developing solutions, and building CI/CD pipelines. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate within the team and across the organization. The product manager will maintain a priority backlog and roadmap to support the overall product book of business, with primary focus on executing strategy for the 340BCheck product while partnering closely with product managers across KitCheck, CostCheck, and ShortageCheck to drive internal product integration initiatives. This role will maintain priority and focus, handle customer or partner issue interruptions, and make risk-balanced recommendations to prioritize or defer interruptions. The product manager will partner closely with the growth product manager to ensure the primary revenue-generating product continues to grow, retain revenue, and keep users engaged and satisfied. Time allocation: ~60% driving innovation forward to support growth, ~20% ensuring existing customers and partners are retained and satisfied, and ~20% addressing technical debt to reduce future risk.
