Manage large-scale thermal energy construction projects from preconstruction to close-out, ensuring budget, schedule, and quality standards. | Requires a bachelor's in construction management or engineering, 15+ years of relevant experience, and expertise in thermal energy projects. | POSITION SUMMARY Barton Malow is seeking a Sr. Project Manager for our Thermal Energy growing book of work. The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for client communication and providing overall project progress reports. This role involves developing and adhering to the project budget, timeline, and quality control plan. The Sr. Project Manager will collaborate with architects, engineers, trade partners, and other key stakeholders to ensure successful project completion. Additionally, the individual will manage risks, insurances, general work performance, and overall team progress against the project plan through consistent communication and collaboration with both the owner and project team members. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Facilitates coordination meetings with the project team from preconstruction to project close-out, ensuring effective communication throughout the process. • Oversee the procurement process and bidding strategy, develop work scopes, organize pre-bid meetings, and evaluate bids after they are submitted. • Initiates the development of the project schedule and jobsite setup, including mobilization and permit management. • Manages the general conditions budget, conducts cash flow analysis, and regularly monitors project costs to ensure profitability. • Assists the General Superintendent with owner issues and subcontractor communications, enforcing the requirements outlined in owner agreements. • Coordinates company team members and resources, supervises jobsite staff, and monitors compliance with schedule requirements. • Builds effective working relationships with clients and Barton Malow team members. • Administers the financial aspects of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering. • 15+ years of relevant experience, along with H-Class and/ or large class thermal energy project experience. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail demonstrated by a strong understanding of applicable contracts and legal provisions. • Ability to manage and embrace change, respond to and adapt to new processes and perspectives on traditional challenges. • Proven ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities, balancing project delivery needs with the non-critical review of incomplete work assignments while maintaining excellent customer relationships. • Strong management skills to effectively oversee trade partner performance, ensuring adherence to BMC's high-quality standards. • A strong sense of urgency with the ability to quickly assess complex issues and resolve conflicts effectively in a firm yet fair manner. • Ability to travel, project assignments will include company financial support.

This role is critical to our success in constructing and commissioning cutting-edge power generation facilities, typically comprised of Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE), as well as Simple and Combined Cycle power plants, including co-located Renewables, such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar. The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for the overall oversight, management and direction of the mechanical Scopes of Work (SoW) on complex energy projects. This includes coordinating, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and oversight of mechanical-related activities from throughout the Project Lifecycle. This position is a frequent point of contact for the client, often leads interdisciplinary coordination efforts, and collaboratively endeavors to ensure that project objectives for safety, quality, budget, and schedule are met or exceeded. It is not uncommon for this position to also be tasked with overseeing HVAC and Pre-Engineered Metal Building scopes and has the potential to grow into the Project Lead for an entire project. Key Responsibilities • Project Planning & Execution: Provide overall management direction for the mechanical scope of construction projects, establishing and implementing project objectives, including procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of company policy, applicable Codes & Regulations and contract specifications. • Scope Management: Direct and coordinate all activities related to both low and high-energy piping systems, including fabrication, installation, welding, and testing via comprehensive Quality Control (QC) programs. • Procurement & Bidding: Lead the procurement process for the mechanical and associated equipment SoW, including the development of detailed bid packages and their associated work scopes and scope splits. Organize and conduct pre-bid meetings, perform thorough bid evaluations, bid leveling, lead and / or assist with post-bid reviews and Owner Recommendation Packages as required. • Financial Controls: Create and manage project budgets, with a focus on financial spending tracking and forecasting. Implement and maintain earned value management (EVM) systems to monitor project health. Review, analyze, and process project and SoW change orders, detailing their impact on the project to both Owners / Clients and internally to the Organization. • Client & Stakeholder Relations: Serve as a key point of contact for direct engagement with the Owner/Client. Actively manage relationships and maintain effective and timely communication with architects, engineers, consultants, superintendents, subcontractors and Owners / Clients. • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Facilitate frequent and effective coordination with all other major disciplines (Architectural, Civil, Concrete, Structural, Electrical, and I&C) to ensure effective project integration. • Support & Leadership: Provide support, and guidance to the wider project team, including superintendents and engineers, to ensure progress is within expected guidelines and completed on time and within budget.
