Design and optimize a cross-platform agent for Windows, macOS, and Linux ensuring reliability and security. | 3-5 years experience in SaaS with Go and Java proficiency, secure coding, cloud environments, and cross-platform development preferred. | Are you ready to own something big? Automox is turning IT admins into IT heroes by replacing traditional tools with our award winning cloud-native endpoint management platform. Our product works autonomously and so do our teams. We value a ‘one team’ mentality where everyone’s unique skills contribute to an environment that encourages collaboration and ownership. At Automox you’re enabled to do your best work, grow your career, and have an impact that will be noticeable. WE ARE A_TOMOX… all that’s missing is U! OVERVIEW Our Engineering team builds products that autonomously manage endpoint configuration, security, and patching across Windows, macOS, and Linux devices. We value a "one team" mentality, empowering our engineers with autonomy, collaboration, and meaningful ownership of impactful solutions. At Automox, you’ll do your best work, grow your career, and see the direct impact of your contributions. You are a curious software developer who is dedicated to your craft and enjoy solving big problems; you write code that you are proud of and can hit the ground running with support from the team. You understand that SaaS software delivery necessitates innovation and speed of execution. You want to be a part of a creative and enterprising team with challenging problems to solve. You pride yourself in owning problems but don’t want to work in a vacuum to solve them. Collaborating with the team to come up with the best solution for your customer is what fuels your fire. If this sounds like you take a closer look at what this role entails. WHAT YOU'LL DO Join the core Agent Team- the engine driving Automox's ability to manage millions of devices worldwide. Work directly on the Automox Agent: the critical, lightweight software footprint that lives on our customers' endpoints. Design, develop, and optimize the cross-platform Automox agent (Windows, macOS, Linux) to ensure extremely low resource consumption and high system reliability. Build robust, secure communication pipelines that allow the local agent to seamlessly receive commands and send telemetry back to our cloud services. Tackle unique, system-level challenges on the endpoint, from native OS process management to secure, isolated execution environments. Operate within a dedicated Agent Pod, collaborating closely with cloud infrastructure and platform teams to deliver true end-to-end features. BACKGROUND AND SKILLS REQUIRED Hands-on experience with both Go and Java, with a strength in at least one. We're a polyglot org and we value versatility across languages. 3 - 5 years of experience designing, developing, testing, and monitoring applications deployed in a high availability SaaS environment. A strong appreciation for resource-constrained environments and system-level performance optimization. A passion for cross-platform edge development and navigating the unique behaviors of different operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS). Experience or strong interest in how local client software interacts securely and efficiently with large-scale cloud backends. Secure Coding experience such as experience with OWASP, Vulnerability Assessments, Threat Modeling, Secure Code Review, Penetration Testing, Data Protection, Encryption, Authentication & Authorization OR similar experience related to secure coding is a huge preference. Experience building production applications in cloud environments (AWS or GCP) with a strong emphasis on security best practices. Experience working as a Software Engineer on applications with continuous client connectivity is desired. Enjoy scaling microservice architectures and large-scale event ingestion platforms. Have familiarity scaling websockets, real-time messaging systems (Kafka, MQTT), and non-relational database systems like DynamoDB, networking, DevOps. Excellent communicator, thrives within a tightly knit, cross-functional remote team environment. Impactful collaborator working with other engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers and Technical Support. HOW WE WORK We run a 70/20/10 model across our engineering pods: 70% of sprint capacity goes to primary roadmap, 20% to tech debt and service health, and 10% to learning and exploration. That last 10% is protected — it's how we invest in our engineers and stay sharp as a team. We're moving toward full service ownership, where the team that builds it, runs it. That means you'll understand your services at a level most engineers don't get to — cost profiles, failure modes, operational behavior — and you'll have the autonomy to make them better. We have an Architecture Review Board (led by our Principal Engineer) that provides guardrails and review for significant technical decisions. You'll have input there as your experience grows. The salary range listed is the base pay range for this position. In addition, the total compensation package includes bonus, equity and benefits. Actual earnings may be less or more depending on a candidate's direct experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location. Compensation $125,000—$150,000 USD LOCATION We are a fully distributed company of remote employees. ***Note: We currently don't hire in California or New York metro*** ABOUT AUTOMOX Automox is the cloud-native IT operations platform for modern organizations. IT Systems Administrator

AutomoxAnywhereFull-time
View Job
Compensation$55K - 85K a year

Manage and secure macOS and Windows endpoints using Jamf and Intune while automating IT tasks and administering identity and access governance across SaaS and cloud environments. | 2-3 years IT systems administration experience in cloud-first SaaS environment with scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, Python, and experience in MDM and IAM tools. We are hiring an IT Systems Administrator to keep Automox's internal IT running: endpoints enrolled and compliant, identity and SaaS access provisioned correctly, and repetitive work automated away. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role on a small, fast-moving team. You will spend your day in the tools, not in meetings about the tools. If you would rather automate a problem than do it twice, this is your seat. What You'll Own and Drive Endpoint management and compliance. Manage the macOS and Windows fleet end to end. Enforce CIS controls using Jamf on Mac and Microsoft Intune on Windows. Keep enrollment, configuration, and patch compliance high and measurable. Endpoint automation through Automox. Write and maintain Bash and PowerShell Worklets in Automox to automate endpoint actions, close compliance gaps, and cut manual IT workload. As a daily power user of our own product, you are also a direct internal feedback loop to Product and Engineering. Your bug reports and feature ideas should ship. Identity and SaaS administration. Provision, deprovision, and govern access across our identity provider and SaaS estate (Google Workspace, Atlassian, GitHub). Automate the joiner-mover-leaver lifecycle so access is correct by default. Cloud access control. Administer access and IAM across our cloud accounts (AWS and Azure). Scope is access governance and account hygiene, not infrastructure engineering. Workflow automation. Design and deploy automations (using workflow automation tooling or a SOAR equivalent) that integrate IT, identity, and SaaS systems and remove repetitive work across the company. Help desk. Own the internal ticket queue. Handle level 1 and escalated level 2 tickets, and meet our SLA to the business. Continuous improvement. Analyze current systems and processes, spot inefficiencies, and propose and ship the fixes. Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and stay current on cloud and automation practice. How We Work with AI We expect you to use AI tools to move faster and raise the quality of your deliverables. Just as important is the judgment to review AI output for correctness and security before it reaches production. AI accelerates the work. It does not replace your accountability for it. What Success Looks Like You will own measurable outcomes, not just activity. Examples include patch compliance across the fleet, MDM enrollment rate, ticket MTTR against SLA, and SaaS access-review cadence. What You Bring 2 to 3 years in IT systems administration or a related role, ideally in a cloud-first SaaS environment. Hands-on automation and scripting in PowerShell, Bash, and Python. You write working scripts, and you use AI coding tools well with the judgment to catch what they get wrong. Endpoint management experience with Jamf and Intune. Cloud access and IAM experience in AWS or Azure. Familiarity with identity and SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Atlassian, GitHub) and workflow automation tooling (SOAR or equivalent). Strong analytical instinct. You find the inefficiency and propose the fix. A collaborative, cross-functional working style. The salary range listed is the base pay range for this position. In addition, the total compensation package includes bonus, equity and benefits. Actual earnings may be less or more depending on a candidate's direct experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location.
